I finally changed strings on my Roscoe and MTD fretless last weekend. The Roscoe was last changed early 2020 and has seen daily practice use for 2020 to date. 😯 The B and E strings were particularly muddy in tone. The MTD is only 6 months old but why not, I wanted to use my Ernie Ball Power Peg Pro, a useless gift really for an amateur but it is a gadget and needed using (it saves a lot of time to be fair)

My first was a white  Ibanez SR300 (e?). Dreadful waste of wood and metal. Although probably my playing style but at no time did I ever get an acceptable tone from it, even with tutoring on how to play. It almost made me give up base. No idea what happened to it and tbh, not overly worried.

I have the HP and am very happy with it. Currently playing at home with a mix of old style blues to classic rock to metal to modern pop and have no problem getting a tone I like for any of those genres. Basses used go from a Fender P, Roscoe Century 5, MTD Kingston Fretless 5 to a Dingwall AB1 V. All through a Barefaced Big Twin 2. 1300watts of power means I can cause earthquakes but also it is a very suitable practice amp. Build quality is superb although not Glockenklang (my previous head), but then the Glock is by far the best built head I have seen. I have not owned it long enough to get out on stage with it, but do not think for a second it will have any problems.  It also has the benefits of the firmware upgrades that Jim B puts out giving a good choice of sims (for want of a better description).

This is the first head that I have owned for a period of a year or so and not had any thoughts of moving it on.

Not so inspirational but Eric Morecambe summed up my playing with: "Playing all of the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order"

My bass tutor: "That sounds so much better when you don't play" To be fair he was instilling the thought of letting the music come out with silence.

I have a pair of these and they are superb, I mean really superb. Good luck with the sale.

I do wonder why the Big Feastival is still apparently happening with so many others being cancelled. Whilst only a ticket buying attendee, I am intrigued they are still actively promoting the event (although very much hoping it goes ahead).

My practice rig is also now my only rig (other than a desk mixing set up which is currently dismantled). I used to have a Markbass CMD121P but as a non-gigging bass player for the time being at least this current set up just about works!

I sometimes try and play the Massive Attack version as “consistency training” Get it wrong and start again. Still never completed it perfectly. 🥴

I feel the same when hearing "Walk on By" I mean what do people in wheelchairs think. Also "Fly me to the Moon": those poor failed astronauts. "I just died in your arms" must really screw up people who have lost arms. 🙄

Quite honestly why worry about the stated numbers. Speaker sensitivity, playing acoustics etc will each have a material impact on the perceived volume that comes out. If the amp plays loud enough for you and the tone is right, buy it.

Peterson StroboStomp HD. Superb, if not pricey bit of kit. Very easy to read and a host of different tuning  patterns to work with. Battery or mains powered.

An Octobass is a musical instrument like a large double bass. I am sure that is allowed. 😊

Obviously an Octobass. Once I have learnt to play it, it should make a very nice dinghy in which to sail home. 😀

No idea but I believe in some places the collective noun for bankers is a Wunch.

I saw a house for sale last year which contained both a wrapping room and a flower room. Ever since then they have become essential rooms to have in my next house. I will find room for my bass kit, as long as I have those two rooms to wrap presents and arrange flowers. 😄

I would be on one of the chairs, the drummer on the other, and the guitarist on the sofa playing Nintendo. Oh! not 3 piece suite then, my bad. 😀

I have recently listened to more CCR than The Eagles, not sure what that says as some of that is down to someone else playing the music. I do have an occasional liking to Have You Ever Seen the Rain; especially one or two of the YT videos available.
