1. I love my M80 but I don't use the distortion in it and could live without the EQ, what I can't live without is the COLOR BUTTON. So just wondering, is there a good DI out there without any of this stuff but with an amp sim as good as the color button? No knobs, nothing, just ins and outs and a button to engage amp sim, and a good amp sim at that!
2.
sounds like it
But the VP Jr 25k is logarithmic anyway... And this one is linear, as is Line 6's expression pedal. The strange things is this: it only happens on the way up. There's actually a slight jump where volume kicks in immediately but goes back down and then normally up for the last half of the movement. On the way back to zero it moves normally all the way, maybe there's still some deadzone but at least there isn't that jump up near zero. Dodgy pot? It does have a slightly more normal behaviour when using as a volume pedal between bass and amp. I still get the deadzone but it seems equal up and down and there's no jump in volume early on. What I'm worried is that maybe this is due to difference in impedance, in which case it will happen just as well to the VP Jr and I'll be screwed by trading up!
3.
I've never noticed any odd swell issues with mine, for what it's worth.
Thx mate. Is there a way you can check by looking at the bar of the volume pedal model and see that it comes off zero straight away when you start rocking the pedal forward? Would just like to be sure before I order one
4. Could you confirm that the swell is even from heel to tow? I'm using a cheapo Bespeco pedal (20k ohm) and roughly the whole 1st half of the travel (from heel down) is dead zone. Only then the swell kicks in. Could you check that you get a normal swell from the very beginning and no dead zones with the VP Jr 25k? Thanks in advance.

6. What about the Line 6 M9? Although when I bought it I had no intention of using its compressors and didn't think I needed any, the Tube Compressor model is so good I have it on all the time. And it has a good enough tuner too, I can just about see what's going on there with my short-sightedness and no glasses on stage The other compressors are a bit rubbish I thought, a bit too fizzy on the high freqs, too guitar-orientated I suppose (Dyna Comp, Boss blue one, etc).
7.
OK here's another Bump! In reply to fenderhead..... I don't know about comparison with the TRex, but yes I guess there are a lot of Drive/Boost pedals anyone could use to drive a valve head. I've tried quite a few OD pedals, but not the Trex. What I found was that the SFT is very amp-like and seems to work well for me. I like that vintage amp vibe. Also I found the SFT worked better than any others at low gain hair settings. The tone paramaters are very well set up and tweakable too, with a bunch of nice sounds with both treble and bass tone pots set quite low. Just my opinion, but I think the Catalinbread pedals are especially well tought out and put together. The 18v option is a good extra as not all drives have that kind of headroom. The SFT seemed to respond to picking dynamics better than most for me too. Good luck with the sale - someone will get a very nice pedal IMO and at a very fair price.
Another free bump ;-) So you mean the SFT already comes with a stated option to use 18v instead of 9v? I thought you just tried 18v coz you felt like it and it sounded better... I AB'd the SFT and my T-Rex at Vintage and Rare for quite a while and I could replicate EVERY. SINGLE. TONE. from each pedal with the other to the point I couldn't tell the difference. I was surprised at how equal both pedals sound. Even maximum distortion on one sounds the same as maximum on the other. meaning amount of gain available seemed EXACTLY the same. Yet one is super hyped and the other is super under appreciated, victim of terrible videos on YouTube. I kept the T-Rex because it has 2 channels but I agree the tone options on the SFT are better. The T-Rex has a mix knob though, so I suppose that evens things out ;-) And the SFT reacted VERY SLIGHTLY better to picking dynamics, but had to test for quite a while to be sure.
8. Last chance. Going on eBay tomorrow.
9.
and another free Bump this bump is for running this pedal at 18v I just got round to doing this on my SFT and it makes this pedal even better than i expected.
Hmmm sorry to hijack but is that something you could do with any pedal, for example the T-Rex Bass Juice (which sounds very similar to the SFT)? What exactly are the improvements?
10. FWIK, the Ernie Ball with 25k pot will do the job. I use a Bespeco V12L with my M9 which is the same quality as the Line 6 expression pedal but costs half, I rarely use it but if I gigged regularly with it I'd buy the Ernie Ball.
11. Now £80. No more reductions, if not sold here for this price, it's the 'Bay
12. Tuesday morning bump. Going on eBay in a couple of days.
13.
Looks very stylish, like a super expensive Italian kitchen. You just need to black out the colour logos on the M9
LOL
14. This is probably only the second time in 5 years I've been this happy with my pedalboard :-) And with the money I made by buying an M9 second hand and selling several pedals I only used for short bits of songs :-) Apart from this board I'm only keeping, because they're so good (even though I'm not using them now): Zoom Ultra Fuzz EBS Multichorus Korg Pitchblack EHX Bass MicroSynth And I have a Bespeco volume pedal I'll use for expression with the M9 when needed.
15. Price drop: £90 shipped.
16. Btw, with so many awesome choruses out there, why the hell would you want to model a Boss :-/ ?
17. How do you go about making a request, you just post on their M9 forum? Yeah the Octabass is pretty poor, the harmoniser model in the filters actually sounds better to my ears! They need to get an MXR Bass Octave Deluxe model there or make the EBS model right! And yeah, I notice a volume drop with most filters which makes them unusable. Filters are really poor for bass I think, apart from that harmoniser, the Whammy and the Mutron models. Some modulations lose volume too. So far loving the phasers and rotary drum, flangers and choruses are not brilliant but are usable enough. Distortions all sound fake but I love the tube compressor which I think I'll have on all the time Still have to test delays and reverbs tonight.
18.
Weird. I'm using a Bespeco VM-19L with my M9, no such issues. So even using the knob you can't set a param at max? Or does it just drop below max when you touch the pedal / can't reach max with your toe down?
I'm using a VM-12L. Any effect I select that for example has a certain parameter at max, with the exp. plugged in will already appear less than max even before I do anything else. But just found the cause: Something wrong with the patch cable! I noticed as I wiggled it the bar moved a bit back and forth. Tried a couple of other cables, no problem, every time I go back to that one it happens. It's a pretty good Adam Hall cable with switchcraft plugs, wtf? What was that doing to my tone when I used it between pedals??? All other Adam Hall cables I tried have no such problem... So much for my plan of buying a cheap cable for the exp. because it wouldn't matter... Any idea what in the cable could be causing this? I notice no problems when I use it between pedals??!!!
19. I'm using the M9 with a Bespeco volume pedal for expression (20k). Whenever I plug it in, I stop being able to reach maximum values whether with the pedal or using the knobs, i.e., the bars only 'fill up' to a point just below maximum, leaving a couple of pixels blank. Minimum levels work as normal. So the bars can be full, but as soon as I touch the pedal or the knob they start ending slightly below max. Is this normal? Is it a problem with using this pedal with it?
20. MXR Carbon Copy analog delay. Mint condition, boxed (no instructions sheet), feet still on, perfect working condition. £80 shipped.
21. I read on harmony central they're considering to keep last user setting for fx in a future update so if that's true not so hard after all... Will check on Line 6 website where to leave a feature request. I'd love to have 1 fx loop too, tough I understand the cost (and space) constraints in this. I'd gladly give up the stereo in and expression in no. 2 for that, but that's just me :-)
22.
Can you not just have another scene set up specifically to try out wahs, then make a note of the settings and add that to the sixth effect in the originsl scene?
Yeah I mentioned something like that, but hardly practical...
