1. Purchase of a new Fibenare guitar (check them out they also make delicious basses) means I will definitely have to part with my Shuker now. It's relisted on Ebay if anybody is interested.
2. I sold a Canyon 3 to cash converters yesterday for £200 as it was stuck up in the loft unplayed. It looked fantastic in the spalted maple finish but to be honest it sucked big time and is vastly overpriced. There isn't much you can do with it tonally (a fellow basschatter though the electrics were broken it was so limited !) and the lower horn on the body is so short it is really uncomfortable to play sitting down. Not sure if I got a bad example, but the routing on the back was that rough it was snagging my shirt and I had to sand it down. Eye candy only I'm afraid - but if you are still convinced you want one there is one in Cash Converters in Bootle !
3. Just an update on the Micromark - having had a good play with it I don't think it's as bad as my first report. If I keep the volume and input levels down I can get a gorgeous tone just going through a Blackfinger compressor. Still don't think it's worth the money and it is limited in it's application but it's not a complete dud as first reported.
4. Never Say Never 2 Guitar purchases at the weekend mean the Shuker is back on sale at £1045 . Is there no cure for this addiction!!!!!
5. Hi All , UFO first - Steve: Sky One was definitely the best - not so sure about the string vests they used to wear onboard the sub though. I know what you all mean about selling this bass - it's by far and away the best looking in my collection but I've got an Overwater Progress which I prefer tonally, which I bought on a buy now pay in a year deal so needed to find the money to fund this.(Wife has since paid for it !)so not now so desperate for the cash - it finishes on Ebay tonight and if it doesn't go I definitely won't list it again (which may be for the best !) . I have listed it on Ebay a few times only to withdraw it with minutes to go as I could not bare the thought of parting with it.
6. LAST CHANCE !!! I think the god's of bassdom are trying to tell me something and save me from a lifetime of regret ! If my beloved Shuker hasn't sold by the end of August it will never be offered for sale again - so if ya want it......
7. Wednesday bump
8. PRICE DROP !!!!! Now £1095 and if any of you guys wish to arrange a courier to collect the bass (most of them provide this service online) I am willing to accomodate this. (At your risk and expense of course !)
9.
Uh oh, that's an amazing looking bass and i'm in Liverpool too..... *slaps self*
The setup on it is also sublime. The action is so low it virtually plays itself ! Damn these price increases !
10.
Hi Sean - I'll try and get some up tonight although it won't look much different ! If anything the gold strings make it look even better and the knobs now match the body woods - I thought the originals let the bass down a bit which is why I asked Jon to make the custom ones. It was a shame he struggled with the split knob and could not do the bottom part of it , although he did say he would give it more thought (but was probably the last thing on his mind with the move etc.)so I didn't want to badger him about it.
More homemade pics as requested No comments on my wallpaper !!
11.
Hi, have you got any pictures of the bass yourself please and not the ones from the shuker site, i rang jon wanting this bass but was told it was sold so im very interested Thanks Sean
Hi Sean - I'll try and get some up tonight although it won't look much different ! 12. Hi folks, The credit crunch has bitten and therefore I am selling my Shuker 4 string fretted through neck custom with hard case. The spec of the bass is as follows : Wenge, flamed maple & paduak laminated neck. Black walnut body core with flamed myrtlewood body facings. Ebony fingerboard. EMG Hz pickups (passive) EMG 3 band Eq. Schaller Bridge Gotoh GB707 tuners Optima gold strings It was bought new from Jon Shuker in May 2007 by myself and has only been played in the house and is therefore in mint condition. No trades as need the cash and the bass is currently listed on Ebay (but only has watchers not bidders)so would be happy to withdraw it for a fellow basschatter. Collection only from Liverpool £900 cash. Jon has also made some custom knobs for the bass in matching woods (apart from the bottom half of the split one which he couldn't do)which I will also include. 13. I bought one of these to use with Bass and Guitar and the sounds you can get out of it are amazing. For bass however, the latency on the E string is dire though, and I perish to think what it must be like on a 5 string or more. I have setup the pickup on the bass exactly as specified so I don't believe this is the problem. There is a word of warning in the manual (bit late after you have bought it) that the low frequencies take longer to analyze and this can cause a slower response. It is absolutely amazing on guitar and doesn't suffer from the same problems. If I was only using it for bass I think I would have been quite disapointed as the pedal itself is also quite plasticky - especially at the price £299 for the effects unit and £89 for the additional bass pickup. Think carefully about this one fellow basschatters !
14. I also run drive into the Pickle Pie and it definitely takes it to a whole new level.
15. Hi has anyone tried one of these on bass ? The You tube video of the guy playing take 5 using the sax voice on a strat sounds awesome (if that's what you're into) but you can also get a bass pickup for it. I've just parted with an EXH Microsynth as it really didn't have a diverse enough palette of sounds and was hoping this would be a better replacement.
16. Apologies - needed fast response so sourced elsewhere.
17. Can I pay through Paypal ? If so I'll take it at £170 posted.
18. If you do buy a new one from a shop be hardfaced and ask for a deal on it - might save you a few ££££'s
