1.
If you scroll down to the bottom of the link I posted, the '93 models look identical to yours, though in a different finish. It lists one of the colour options as sunburst, so I'd be fairly certain it's a '92/'93 SR500.
many thanks to you and to noelk27 for the info.. doh!... you're absolutely right of course... long gig... it was late... didn't think to scroll down..... thanks so much for that hmmm... don't know why but i like it more now!
  2.
Can I ask you (not in the market to buy, sorry) which you prefer of the SGC Nanyo and this, and why? Is this as lightweight, for example, with a similarly skinny neck?
interesting comparison! i can't get the spacing to work like a table - first figure is the SDGR; second is the BC (should be in columns !) SDGR BASS COLLECTION WEIGHT 3170 3250 Body Width (widest part) 320 310 Body Width (neck of body) 21 19 Bridge to PU 40 / 95 45 / 90 Neck width (24 th fret) 60 60 Neck width (1st fret) 38 40 Thickness of neck (1st fret) 20 22 Distance between strap buttons 52 48 From bridge strap button to bottom horn 38 35 so.... very similar! SDGR body slightly bigger - but a touch lighter (my other BCs weighed a touch more at approx 3340) PU placement different - especially as P-pickups 'reversed' on the SDGR... playability pretty similar too - neck 'feels' just slightly thicker on the BC (only when compared to the SDGR - feels slim and narrow against other basses) preference? - i've always liked the BC's so it probably just edges it against this one (but tthe SDGR 1000 i've got is better still !!) hope this helps roger
  3.
Looks like an original one of these: SR 500 Nice looking instrument at a very reasonable price!
hmmm...... not sure... don't you think the neck pocket is more up market on the 500 ???
  4. no interest at a silly price so... now on greedybay.....
  5. no-one with a six-string electro acoustic to P/X ??
  6. OK - who's worried about their pension? this is a steal at £150 with a bag *AND* postage ! even if you don't play it... invest in this - stick it under the bed for 10 years and the return will be loads better than trusting your hard earned gig cash to overpaid *ankers who get extraordinary bonuses just for doing their job (when was the last time you got paid a bonus for playing at a gig?) (OK - rant over bump from me for a great bass......
  7. OK - what do we need to say about these? - but you all probably know anyway.... The original Bass Collection series made by Nanyo in Japan (who bought out the Sexton Guitar Company - Hence SGC) were high quality instruments... just look at the way the neck matches with the body - the use of Gotoh tuners etc NOT to be confused with the current SX models - which - although good value for money - simply do not compare I see a basschatter has a passive one up for £150 - are you guys mad? how come its still there? This is 4-string - active - in a deep, almost translucent, red It does have an extra switch fitted - apparently, the previous owner had to replace the jack socket - but wired it incorrectly so the battery was always on - so, instead of sorting it, put a switch in to manually turn the battery off ! - needless to say its all sorted now and the switch is redundant - but left there because otherwise there would be a nasty hole! (thats the cut-off red wires in the electrics cavity) its a SB310 series with a serial number starting 95 so must be one of the very last to have been made in japan before production by SGC Nanyo shifted to Korea for a very short time before ceasing completely (I actually have one of the SGC Nanyo Korean BC's) I'm putting this up for only £199 - cheap for what I think is one of the most under-rated and under-valued basses around - in my very humble opinion ! buit what I would *really* like is a P/X or Trade for an electro acoustic 6-string (sorry!) of decent quality - Takamine or so - anyone interested?? These bass can only be seen as a good investment in these worrying financial times - prices starting to go up on 'bay now ( I also have a black one - with EMGs - that I might be persuaded to part with for the right deal Any trial / inspection most welcome - could probably find some coffee or a beer... I'm in Poole - south coast - sometimes sunny - sometimes wet... pics below - hopefully other stuff which has to go which i'll get round to listing sometime.... MarkBass 2 x 10 combo *BUT* with the LMK 2-channel amp (came from good b'chatter a year or so ago - no longer used for the sort of stuff I do now) - £650 Eden WT-405 (Time Traveller) - £450 Peavey Bandit 65 guitar combo - £75
  8. hello john.... red BC..... its got an 'extra' switch ... chap who had it before changed the jack socket and wired it incorrectly - so.... instaed of doing it properly, put a switch in to manually turn th battery off! needless to say - its now wired correctly and the switch is redundant ... but still there - else there would be a hole ! difficult to capture colour - dark translucent red i guess... serial - 954**9 can't make out other 2 digits which would probably make it one of the very last SGC nanyo from the Japaanese factory - before they moved to Korea for a short time before finally finishing.... sad really - i think they're under-rated and certainly undervalued - at the moment... pics of the SDGR as well ... just in case... (not sure what model - 4-string - active - japan - model ident missing NSR-600 / NSR-500 in neck pocket....) and the SDGR
  9. hello john... would you have any interest in either of these basses? Bass Collection - SGC Nanyo - japanese (you'll know all about them) or Ibanez SDGR - not sure which model but 'made in japan'; P/J pups; active has NSR 600 & NSR 500 on neck pocket & neck more info & pics if you like but not far away so happy to pop up to the 'north' sometime (from Poole) cheers roger

  16. 1980 FENDER BASSMAN 135 tried offering this last year - but no-one had any money .. been sat in my lounge since i connect it up, plug it in and talk to it occasinally for reassurance... to show its still loved and wanted.... just don't do the gigs for it anymore - so... much as it pains... its got to go no-one has any money - know the feeling - so now seriously open to trades - maybe a Jaguar bass ?? worth trying anything if you fancy it - but please don't be offended if what you're offering is not for me! Its been a workhorse and has the scars to prove it - serial is F0 plus 5 digits so I believe that makes it '80 and, by the looks of it, has spent many of those years being thrown in the backs of transit vans the plate is Silver (face) but, again, I think that is meaningless with the 135's as they were all silver except for some *later* models (80.. on) which had the Black(face) but were only cosmetically different - the insides were the same (thats what i was told anyway - and i believe everything i'm told......) the technical bit.. its got 4 big valves and 3 little ones.... and its heavy Its no good asking if its original / what are the valves / have bits been changed - all i've done is turned it on, plugged in and played i've had it several years and its not been serviced, no valves have been changed whilst i've had it - its just worked and pumped out that classic Bassman sound through a variety of cabs Could be recovered I guess - but that would hide the stories it could tell If you fancy a trip to the South Coast then come and try it - could probably find coffee or a beer looking for £399 (lets face it - a better investment than money in a building society these days...) 18.
What is the rating of the speaker? Cheers Brian
hello brian.... sorry - been away a couple of days speaker & behringer amp gone - had a queue when i got back! i actually don't know (never looked!) what speaker it was, or its rating it was just pretty loud (efficient - i guess) and could push a lot of bottom end if required all a bit irrelevant now i guess! bw for the new year cheers roger
