1. Hey guys, Just thought I'd throw this in here. I've just moved to Kentish Town and am looking for a band to get into. Looking for regular gigging with some folks around my age (21) - been a songwriter and bass player in a band for the past two years. Played in pits, fairly good sight reading, can do some backing sometimes! Personally, I'm listening to Talking Heads, Steely Dan, Air and Yeasayer the most at the moment so I have wide ranging tastes. Am up for covers or originals, something along the lines of jazz, blues, indie, fusion and some rock maybe - nothing too heavy! Own all my own gear, probably can transport most of it with a trolley Give me a DM if anyone is interested or know of anywhere to look!

 4. Again interested but same pictures needed!
 5.
What it said... And take your bass around every so often, you never know when one of the band mates don't turn up and they ask you to fill in
That's a good plan! I went to the Bass Gallery yesterday in Camden and had a go of the Danelectro Longhorn reissue. I'm tempted to get one as a cheap bass I could carry around London. It had bucketloads of tone and if it get's lost, no harm done. But it would be great for just rocking up with. Now to keep an eye on the for sale section!
 6. Evening all, I have just put down my holding deposit on my house share in Kentish Town (excellent location, decent price and fantastic place) for studying an MA in London next year. I'm very excited to be moving to London and notably I will have no money I really want to get into regular live gigging now. I'm looking for something of people of a similar age (late-teens through 20s) and wondering where does one look for such opportunities? As I'm new to the area, I know no one or much about venues (minus the big ones). My mate suggested either something blues or covers as it's usually regular work and relatively easy on the ability scale. For something my age though, it's more likely to be indie or rock based. Thoughts? I'd love to get into a Jazz Fusion band but I'm not sure I am there yet on the skill fact...
 7.
I've always loved Roger's style. No flash, just the right notes at the right time. I guess that's the unintentional Pink Floyd ethos. Listen to the outro of Shine on Wish You Were Here. It sounds like a bunch of pensioners playing, but the way it makes you feel in indescribable.
Not sure how much I'd agree with the pensioners playing In my opinion, the whole of Shine On is a pinnacle of human musical achievement. It moves me unlike another other piece I have ever heard. The feel, technique and skill is outstanding. Waters' bass playing on records at least is ideal for the music. His tone is the classic pick-flats Precision tone. Have A Cigar is the best example from the top of my head!
 8.
I've recently taken possession of a Veillette Citron Bass - she came all the way from California - after being held ransom by those bastards at Customs & Excise (ransom £199.13) she arrived and is now living safely with me..The company apparently made fewer than 500 instruments of which less than 300 were basses. I was chatting with another bassplayer recently who knew nothing about them. Tina Weymouth from Talking Heads used one on "Stop Making Sense" I put this up as one of the best basses I've ever played - and I own a Jaydee Supernatural and Warwick Dolphin amongst others.. My question is does anybody else know of one in the UK? here she is
Beautiful bass, I've loved Tina's vibe on Stop Making Sense that I have always been on the look out. If you don't mind, how much was it? Where did you find it, I might keep a look out!
 9. And ladies and gentlemen, this is SOLD to the charming whoaoh!
 10. Just listened back to my own clips and the GAS for a Precision returns. I also managed to play quite well for a change on these clips I did eventually sell this bass, mainly due to collection reaching up to four guitars, not to the determent of this baby. Must, resist, another!
 11.
Pete. I went to check your bands website and it`s come up as "visiting this website may harm your computer". It`s on Google`s search page. Jez
Pete, someone has put some malicious code in your website's source. You need to get rid of it straight away as you will be knocked off Google, Facebook and such. I've looked through the code and can't find anything too bad, it's a bit messy to say the least Email me if you need more help, you know where I am!
 12.
He himself (Mayer) played bass on his new record? Which trax?
According to Wikipedia, it was Pino who played bass on everything except All We Ever Do Is Say Goodbye, Crossroads or War of My Life. It doesn't state who else so I guess this means Mayer. The bass on Crossroads works very well and has excellent tone. Hats off to him if it is him! Also note that Ian McLagan of Small/Faces plays all over the album!
 13.
Err...we have a live CD recorded at the Stables theatre in Milton Keynes last year, if anyone's interested. Don't tell Bilbo.
What happened to the live DVD? No joy?
 14.
Slap? My Old School? Must have been pissed that night.
To quote my mate, "if you could play that well sober, we'd be going somewhere!"
 15. Excellent, I'm hopefully going to catch Pete and the gang at The Sage in Gateshead in a few weeks time! After I have moved to London, I also hope to get to a Jazz Cafe gig. I heard a rumour that the epic Aja might have been added to the setlist... Oh, and you guys are right, Pete can really play. His slap work on My Old School still rings true with me!
 16. Yet another bump, come on guys, it's a beaut!
 17.
as good as he is, when you type "john ma" into youtube, John Martyn should be the first suggestion.
+1 - I'm enjoying him but he's no Martyn
 18. I've been listening to a lot of John Mayer over the past few days and I'm really enjoying his stuff. I've heard some of his earlier stuff (the acoustic pop-rock) but his more recent blues explorations are really appealing to me. Continuum, Battle Studies and the Trio albums are all really strong. I know he gets bad press for his singing styles but I'm finding his style energetic and his music fits in well with a slice of old and new. He has an excellent taste in bass players, all of which sound amazing. Some of my favourite clips so far... Vultures - with Pino on bass. Who doesn't want his Precision?! I Don't Trust Myself - with Sean Hurley on bass, rocking out the Epiphone JC with excellent tone! I Don't Need No Doctor - with Willie Weeks on bass, featuring John Scofield Crossroads - Sean Hurley again, with a Mustang bass. Very growly sound! Anyone else a fan, or not a fan?
 19.
I'm interested! Do you still want to sell it?
Yes mate, it finishes on eBay in 22 hours time. You can bid on it if you wish, or make me a offer (PM me). If you want to make an offer, I can only remove it from eBay outside the 12 hours in advance, so do it soon!
 20. You can always buy mine for £1,200 which is a beautiful neck, sounds great and looks the dogs bollocks See signature!
 21. Had to put this on eBay guys as I need to shift it. If you are interested, please do let me know as I'm much rather sell to someone cool here!
 22. Did someone say it's bumpday? Had plenty of interest guys but nothing definite yet
