Yes I’ve been following Lee’s daily videos too, and have really enjoyed them, especially his talking to camera or joke telling bits. Seems you can post ISIS beheadings but not criticise Trump.

Am I right in thinking Facebook own YouTube or YouTube are owned by Facebook?

I'm not on Facebook but can people really post ISIS beheadings on Facebook? That's mental if what you've written is true.

According to Wikipedia, YouTube is a subsidiary of Google and Facebook is owned by Facebook, inc.

Two tours wiped out today.. one UK and one Europe, and my only significant source of income over the next 2 months. Same story for a few of my friends. Not really sure where to go from here, nor how the mortgage is getting paid! Maybe the YouTube musicians have got it right...

I'm sorry to read this. Definitely contact your mortgage lender ASAP if you really don't think there is any other way.

  3. At one point I had 12 basses... which was actually a bit ridiculous... even more so considering 9 or 10 of them were Fender Jazz Basses

I've just got one bass nowadays - it was quite expensive but I think it was worth it and don't envisage getting another bass anytime soon.

You can write what you want on an eBay listing - doesn't make it the rules though, so if you refused to sell to someone who paid you are still a non shipping seller and take the hit from it.

I think in a situation like this, could you not cancel the listing and write that the item is damaged/no longer available or something so that the entire transaction is wiped out meaning no feedback can be left?

Regardless, I won't be selling anything on eBay so it is irrelevant for me.

  5. Sorry to read this mate.

I haven't sold anything on eBay for many years now and when I buy, they're very low cost items from people with a huge amount of positive feedback only.

I think if I did sell, it'd be "Buy it now/offers" only and I'd include a sentence saying something like "Only buy if you have x amount and x% of positive feedback."

I'm probably now more aware of the signs to spot - lack of details about the set up, no work being done with the bands to see who's bringing which bits of the backline and can they all share, that sort of thing.  But I've played a couple of gigs, midweek in pubs that are not well known as live venues, where there isn't so much as a poster up outside telling the general public that there is music on that night.

I get you - I actually only started putting on shows in the first place because I was confident I could do a better job than the promoters we were working with.

When I offer a band a show (post-rock/ambient/experimental/jazz/modern-classical) and they agree, I send an email asking for their technical requirements, telephone number and I attach and reference a two page document with the venue details, time they need to arrive, time they're due to sound check, time they're scheduled to perform, the equipment the venue has, contact details and information about how they're going to be paid... a lot of the time I know it hasn't been read because of the questions I get asked 😂

I put a show on in Bournemouth in November last year - I put posters up at the venue and at Absolute Music, I paid for targeted advertising on Facebook, went to Bournemouth university and university halls to do a leaflet drop and put posters up on the university notice boards, I also had correspondence back and forth with the university music department. Unfortunately it had zero impact. With the exception of two people (who I spoke with and were not students), the bands or I knew every person who attended the event. While the bands knew and could see the effort I had put in, it was still extremely disheartening.

Not too worried about the fee, unless it would put the band seriously out of pocket

Especially for originals bands, it's never been a "won't play" policy, more a "won't go back"policy,  usually related to the promoter, not the venue.  The ones that have got a pub for free on a Tuesday night and don't do any promotion, don't curate the bill and just put on anybody who says yes to their e-mail about playing the gig so acoustic soul duos are on after death metal outfits, and expect the bands to bring people.  None of which may be apparent until you've arrived at the gig

If we're only being watched by the other bands then it's very unlikely that we'll agree to play for those promoters again, because they have failed at their one job - promoting the gig

I've seen this both as a performer and as a promoter. I've been putting on shows of original bands for about two and a half years and have found that there are so many factors that can make a night a success or not.

I put a lot of effort and time planning the events, ensuring the performers work well together, put up posters, push it on social media and sometimes we still get less than 10 people turn up.

And you're often fighting the weather - if it rains, the event is generally ruined. And you're also fighting Sky, Netflix, Prime, etc., etc. A lot of people just can't be bothered to go out and watch originals music.

I do like the names of the frequencies as it's what they really do, plus the frequency itself is labelled below, just in case.

I prefer the 802 to the 800 for the real frequencies filters instead of some useless predefined curves.

@Hellzero have you got a BB800 or BB802? Or have you owned/used either? I'd be intrigued to hear your opinion if you have?

  9. I think the design aesthetic leaves a lot to be desired when compared to brands like the Darkglass and Aguilar. Admittedly I completely acknowledge that whether something looks good or bad to you is a very personal thing.

No. The xlr socket on the back is for an 'IN' (for preamp etc). That's what makes it a bit daft to me. They could have made that space a xlr DI out and had a jack for pre amp in.

At the moment the DI out is on the front in jack form.

Ah yes, I am being dumb as usual :)

And you're right - that is a bit of a home goal isn't it! Hmm - that does seem pretty stupid!

I had a look at the 802, a little frustrating... although no doubt itll be a great amp.

Why they've done a jack DI out and not an xlr baffles me. An xlr would have been perfect. Yes, it does the same thing, but you'll be forever carrying a jack to xlr cable around or a jack to xlr adaptor. I get it with the stomp as it was to keep everything small and compact, but I'm sure they could have fitted an xlr on the 802.

Shame they didnt keep faith with the 2 eq dials, but I suppose the 802 is for people who have tried that and found they were missing that extra eq for mids and high end control.

In all honesty I love the 2 dial eq more so than the 4 band ones.

I've had lots of amps with useless eq (markbass with no real mids) and lots with loads of eq bands (9 band ashdown etc) and the 10 channel eq pedals on the stomp, but nothing has been easier then the bb800. Needs more character and drive (turn gain up), needs more depth and bass (turn depth up), sound needs smoothing out (turn contour clockwise) sound needs brightening (turn contour anti clockwise) so much easier than trying to work out what frequencies need adjusting - I just always found that led to a never ending ordeal or turning dials endlessly until I fluked upon what was needed.

I do like what they've called the eq settings on the 802 though - kind of makes sense when your looking for what to change in the sound.

Sorry am I being stupid but is this not an XLR out on the 802?

Something like: https://www.thomann.de/gb/crown_xls_2002.htm ?  That particular one is 2x650W @ 4 Ohm or 2x375W @ 8 Ohm - but they also have lower- and higher-powered models.

You might or might not need a pre-amp; depends what your effects setup currently is - from a pedalboard?

Hmm...this is very interesting! I think this is something I might pursue.

    Yes - my pedalboard contains:

    1. Lehle volume pedal into...
    2. Darkglass Alpha Omega Distortion  into...
    3. Digitech Obscura Delay into...
    4. TC Electronic Flashback Delay into...
    5. Neunaber Immerse Reverb into...
    6. TC Electronic Flashback Delay into...
    7. TC Electronic Ditto X2 Looper into...
    8. TC Electronic Ditto Stereo Looper

@thebassist,  referencing your other recent thread , where you explain that you play in stereo: won't you need a stereo power amp - or are you planning to get two separate head units?  Apologies if I've mis-extrapolated and that is not relevant here, or I've misunderstood, etc.

Yes, I currently use two Trickfish Bullhead 1Ks. A stereo power bass amp would be cool - I must admit, I've not looked into that.

I'd buy just one first - you might find it's enough.  I often gig a single Super Midget and it can get really loud but the tone stays good at all volumes.

    Frank.

I'd love to buy one purely to the cost but I play in stereo so I need two. I'm excited about getting them now.

There is absolutely no data that's of any value in their ad copy. I'd no more take a chance on that than would I on a car that that lists horsepower as 'a lot', 0-100 KPH as 'really fast', and fuel economy as 'quite good'.

2 x Barefaced Super Midget 12"s it is then Bill. Thanks a lot for your assistance on this.

Odd question - how does the audience hear the stereo? Do you run a cab on each side of the stage?

I do yes - one cabinet is to my right and the other cabinet is to the left of the drummer. I use a ping-pong delay effect a fair amount so it is quite noticeable live. It’s not all real loud like that - here is a much quieter excerpt.

  17. I know this won’t be to people’s taste but here is a snippet of what we do - this is a louder section of course - it’s a low B/fifth/octave through two delay pedals, a reverb and a bass distortion.

I play in stereo with two Trickfish Bullhead 1Ks that each drive one Trickfish TF112 cabinet each. Amazing equipment but I just don’t think two 1x10s will be able to get close to what I need.
