I`ve resisted buying a Roadworn for a while but am sure at some point I will get one - I was very impresses when I played a couple. I think it`s the colour schemes that have put me off in all honesty. Now a white/blonde 57 Roadworn Precision, mmmmmm.......................

The Roadworn Mike Dirnt was one of the nicest basses I've played in a while. -

That's a cracker. Congrats!

Oh. My. Word. I'm too far away from Lancaster to be of any use, but this shouldn't be around for long.

I like it. I don't know how much of that is down to the aluminium compared to say the pickups or the EQ, but it sounds good regardless.
-
Very nice looking thing. I don't usually go for lacquered necks for the same reason as you mention (stickiness) but the matched finish looks really classy on this bass.
Congrats! -
An absolute bargain.

Lovely bass. I've had my head turned by SB/black as a combo a couple of times recently. Not a combination I would have plumped for in the past.

DiMarzio DP122 - very high powered but in a vintagey way, more mid-based than top-end so sounds very much like an old Precision through a big valvey stack. Seymour Duncan Quarterpounders - more modern sounding, more top and bottom end, when pushed sounds more like a bass driven by a gain/distortion pedal on a low setting in my opinion.

Yep. The QP's can be a little scooped for my liking in some settings, but easily fixed by dialling in the mids at your amp.
Otherwise like the folk above have suggested, pick up something like a Behringer BDI21 (about £30) and dial in the grit that way. -

I just find it odd that he's interested in helping musicians and he elected to go with an unknown brand rather than the platform the squier brand would offer...
Maybe Fender/Squier couldn't (wouldn't is more likely) get the spec he wanted down to that price point? -

I've just seen the White blonde jazz. Done. Where do I sign?

It's the natural for me. They look really impressive for the cash. -
Well swerved Karl.

If this is still here come the end of the month then I think I'll be in touch.

Consensus based on what our audience will enjoy. We're lucky to have quite a specific target audience so we can think they way.

Manufactured from lead?

I bet they were good for metal. -

In defence of MIMs, the post 2008 ones are much better than those previous.

Agreed. The pre-08 stuff was much more variable in quality. I have a cracking '04 Deluxe P, my brother was unlucky enough to get a dog of an '02 Jazz.
Everything I've played out of Mexico in the last couple of years (including owning 2, one of which I sold and now regret) has been notoceably better quality.
That's not to take anything away from Squier though. The VM P that I sold on earlier this year was a great bass. The Basschatter who bought it from me thinks the same. And apart from a dodgy set up and crap stock strings, my Squier Bass VI is a great instrument - very well constructed and finished.
Would I ditch Fender for Squier out of principle? Nope. Would I buy another Squier if it beat the nearest Fender alternative for build, feel and tone? Hell yes. -
A 'that's going the extra mile' type bump. If I didn't have a P/J in the stable I would be taking serious interest in this. Alas, not to be.
GLWTS. -
I get all indecisive when I try and pick my perfect P.
Black, black and maple. No wait, I mean vintage white, black and maple. Surf green and sonic blue both look AMAZING with a rosewood board. OH and what about lake placid blue, pearl and rosewood?
The choices! -
Lovely looking bass. I would have a black guard on there by now though

Good thread.
I would go:
Fender Aerodyne Jazz for £499

And this Ashdown EB180 combo for a BARGAIN £75!
http://basschat.co.uk/topic/252252-ashdown-eb12-180-evo-ii-for-sale-only-l75/page__pid__2643535#entry2643535
Easy! -
I have one and play a similar style of music to you by the sounds of it! It definitely sounds like a bass, I put some heavier strings on (La Bella) and gave it a set up and it's vastly improved compared with the stock set up. That said I wouldn't use it as my only bass.
-
I had the J&D Jazz for a little while and it was a cracking bass. You won't get better at that price.

Heres mine, not sure about Stingray tones, but the Jazz AND Precision tones are wonderfull. Mine sounds like a Turbo Precision with both pickups on.
Wow. Love that. -
Another Squier fan here. I had a VM Precision for a while and it was a great bass. In fact it was that bass that got me back in to playing after a few years away. Great bang for buck.
My experience with the CV range echoes most of the comments here too - brilliant basses that are the very top of the Squier shop.

no-one gives a flying crap what bass or rig you have. Most people wouldnt really notice at a gig whether you have a 6k Fodera or a £160 squier as long as you sound 'bassy' thats all that matters. Most of my band wouldnt know whether I changed bass or not as I just sound like me when I play.

This.
Before Christmas my guitarist asked if my memorably green Mark Hoppus sig was new...I've had it for 6 months!
