1. I deserted my basses and spent a few years astray playing angsty alt-folk songs as a solo act. It was fun (still is) but coming back to bass in the last 12 months is definitely the best choice I have ever made musically. I'm a mere bedroom rocker these days, but jamming along to all my favourite tracks is immensely satisfying, as is challenging myself to learn all the songs I deemed "too hard" as a 14 year old first picking up the instrument.

I wouldn't say I was born a bassist, but there is something in the root of me that will always joy in 4 strings.

I'm glad you're enjoying your Bass VI. If you order a custom set of LaBellas they are incredibly cheap. Yes you may have a long wait but they are so cheap it makes the wait worth while. Have a look at their website. :)

Thanks for the tip - I'll be sure to have a look!

I have a Pawn Shop Bass VI and a Squier VI and both are great. I have Staytrem bridges on both which are a great improvement over the originals as are LaBella strings.

The Squier is outstanding for the money and you'll have hours of fun with it!!! :D

I've bought a set of the Ernie Ball strings with the heavier E because I couldn't quite stomach stumping up for the La Bella equivalent, and I'm impatient so the wait for delivery would've killed me :P

So far I'm absolutely loving the bass though - the fact that I can jump from woody Jazz for bass to twangy Jag for chords is incredible. And it looks lush next to my Surf Green Hoppus bass :D

If the 'sex' angle causes problems, a 'dot' separator could be used, perhaps; ie: www.sixties.explosion.co.uk ..?

This is exactly what I was thinking. 'Dot' is the new hyphen :P

  5. I put a deposit down on a new Squier Bass VI on Sunday. Laurence had already ordered the colour I wanted, and assured me it would be put to one side as soon as it arrived (expected Wednesday or Thursday). Because I buy from the guys regularly (mainly bits and bobs rather than basses!) I was given a discount off the ticket price which was already close to the online price.

I got a call from Tom this afternoon to say that it had arrived early from Fender (win!) and then he offered to have the bass sent to my house by courier, timed specifically so that I would be home from work, for no extra charge. All because the weather was cr*p today and he didn't want me trawling round London with a wet bass.

Needless to say I am absolutely blown away - I knew Wunjo were brilliant, but this is a whole other level of service that I was not expecting.

The bass is pretty nice too :D

  6. The Squier Deluxe Jazz gets a great write up in these parts. I don't have any personal experience with it but it looks the part, has an active EQ which will give you plenty of twiddling options so you can get your tone 'just so'.

Edit: the Contemporary Jazz (Overwater by Tanglewood) also looks good, slightly over budget at £320 though

Great bass there Dave, having just picked up a 2008 MIM (my second one of the 2008 onwards series) these are great basses. I`ve just updated my review of my original one today, to reflect my latest one of these. Truly great Precision here for not a lot of money. And in the best Precision colour scheme too.

Thanks Lozz. It's a cracking bass, but it's not getting the playing time it deserves with my two other Precisions on the rack!

Thanks, Dave. This is 'the one', if you want to have a look...

Ohh wow. That is truly phenomenal. When it's back in the stable can I come and visit?

Easily the best music shop, period! It's my local. I live in Devon.

It was only yesterday after trying a couple of basses in a large music retailer (outside of London) that I realised how lucky I am to have Wunjo on my doorstep. The experience was like night and day.
