  1. Contoured body brought new and finished in this lovely “antique white”/cream by Bow Finishing. Oiled neck imported from USA has Jazz width/D profile. Seymour Duncan SCPB-2 pickup. Bespoke custom pick guard/scratch plate designed for this rear routed body - ideal if you want to remove it for that “Dusty Hill” look. Vintage style through body bridge. KiOgon wiring harness. Cost over £1,000 to put together.
What more to say? It’s a lovely bass. Offers invited. 😉

  2. There are plenty of lightweight options beyond Hofner (nothing wrong with it though). I’d definitely go short scale AND make sure the balance is good (Some short scales aren’t). Although I think they sound great, I would not advise the Jack Cassidy - it’s long scale, the nut is a stretch and it neck dives! As ever choice depends on budget, but with SS options from loads like Musicman, Sandberg, Fender, Ibanez, Gretch there is loads out there!

  3. This model is finished in Olympic White and has a cool contrasting Black pickguard. I purchased it new last year and have only had chance to gig it a few times before lockdown. Consequently it is in first class, near new condition with no scratches or dings. Comes complete with its original Fender gig bag.

Fender says:A slim and playable maple neck has a C-profile and a Pau Ferro fingerboard with a contemporary 12” radius which allows the player creative freedom and maximum expression as they construct their basslines.

Two Vintage voiced Noiseless single coil pickups deliver a preferred tone with no background hum. Active electronics give you a powerful onboard 3 band EQ for shaping your sound as you play. The active circuit can be turned off completely via a mini toggle switch: this gives you even more sounds at your fingertips!

This is a great chance to get a bass in near new condition for significantly less than the new price. (New cost at Guitarguitar £899).

Well, not the same neck as mine was the 1505, but the problem looks almost exactly the same as mine did

They need to get that problem fixed, because my replacement, it is one of my absolute favourites and it looks like yours is way newer than mine (my replacement was older), so it is still causing issues.

Also, write to Ibanez UK ( [email protected]) - I did, they were actually surprisingly responsive

Thanks for the info; yes I will likely write. Mine was returned to PMT and I’m currently awaiting the replacement (due in about a week apparently).

  5. I’m still in this year... kinda, I’ve ordered an Ibanez headless, if it ever comes into stock who knows, and I’ve also ordered a new double bass! So I’m about to crash out, but I’ve done well to hold off until November! And I’ve sold loads of stuff, so I’ll finish the year with less than I started! 😉

  6. Brilliant Sandberg California VS5 Bass guitar. The finish is “soft aged” which means it looks like it’s been well used for a number of years without being wrecked! This finish is a added cost option from new.

This five string bass is active with a two band preamp for bass and treble. It is based around the “P” style bass with a split pickup in the centre position.

Perhaps the best thing about it though is that it is beautifully light at only 3.52kg (7.76lbs) and it balances perfectly with no neck dive.

Finally it comes with its original quality gig bag.

  7. First off I took out the bridge piece and cleaned it off, then changed the stock D’Addario strings for LaBella medium scale white nylons, which were only just long enough even though this is a short scale bass. I have to say the tone is much improved! And the E is not booming and is more in line with the other strings, although the A is fractionally quieter, but it is vastly better, so I’ll see how I go before doing anything more drastic. The sound is still rather scooped, but might be fine with suitable e.q.

  8. That’s very interesting Kristo, mine’s the natural colour as well. I’ve had Arron make something for me in the past, that’s a good idea, although I must admit I’d rather keep a piezo if possible. I enjoyed your track to; I do something similar with my band, although it kinda stalled before it got out of the blocks in March for some reason 🤔.....

  9. I’ve got an epiphone masterbuilt century deluxe. It’s an acoustic arch top with a piezo in the wooden bridge. I like the bass but not the amplified sound so much; the E string is much louder and boomy compared with the others and generally it has a very scooped sound. I’m interested in changing the piezo system. Does anyone have any knowledge, recommendations or comments? I’d be grateful for any thoughts.

  10. I’ve had this fantastic active 5 string since brought new from Andertons. It’s the top of the range American model with 2 Humbuckers, 3 band 18v preamp and asymmetric neck. Great range of tones Including P equivalent, J equivalent plus a range of its own sounds. Pretty much as good as new with no dings or dents. Includes original Fender case. Weighs about 9lbs8oz
