It's not a rickenbacker snob, I think it is just ric themselves have these things pulled. My rockinbetter advert lasted a while as I listed it on Friday evening so it went until the Monday morning until it was pulled as a copyright violation.
Brave man posting pictures though, I am sure the ric squad will be heading your way! -
Sounds very much like the power amp shutting down. Does it get hot or are there any other signs? It seems that you have a different idea of a good tech!

Actually looks like a trophy plaque. Maybe someone won 'best pickup' award and someone put a neck on it?
-
Not really that much of a problem, the bridge pickup is a lot louder than the neck in the first place. I am going to try the cap, but I am still considering using a preamp which means I could balance the volumes properly.

Prices on ebay are pretty low, if you have a look at completed items you will find that the price of ibanez sr305 are around that. I have been looking as I am interested in the 505s or 705s, if I can get one at the right price.
There are quite a few round but I suspect they are fine. I have bought loads of instruments on ebay and haven't had any issues. -
When I got my rickenfaker it was like that, except not quite like that, the step occurred half way to the first fret. So I got some replacement strings on an expensive replacement string month, when I got some DR Chromes for the fretless and some new ernie balls for the ibanez, I got some generic strings for the rock and the notch came just after the nut. Don't know why it is so short.

Report it as a fake rickenbacker, it will be down by the time the news starts!

I love the headstock design on my darkfire:

Wunjo in Denmark St, Londinium gets my vote. Lots of stock, very friendly and good prices.. even for central London.

Yes, I had good service in there. -
the 'If you choose to pay via PayPal then I will ask you to sign for the goods when you call to collect.' is a good idea though, I know a couple of people who have been bitten by this. Although a photo is probably better!

I might give it a try with a push pull pot or maybe a on off switch on the tone. I might also do the stereo thing too if I am going to keep it. -
It will give you 10K but it wouldn't be that linear any more

It makes perfect sense. I am a better fretless player than fretted, but only because I am really bad

My first guitar was a natural pine strat. It weighed a ton. It wasn't actually a bad guitar considering. Well, it was by the time I finished modifying it, but it didn't start that way.
-
I don't think they are selling particularly well on ebay at the moment, guitars certainly aren't. I don't think much is selling as well as it was a few years ago.

Tortoiseshell pickguards. Or anything that colour.

Actually from putting guitars on ebay, I know how very difficult it is to show flaws in a guitar as they often don't show.
Its good that he is now offering the money back, but if he had done that in the first place maybe they wouldn't have had this issue and that thread (and the other part in that thread of someone else who couldn't get his money back).
But that front horn and stomach cut area, hmm.. I could do that -
OK, so it is a treble bypass like the telecaster had. That makes sense, I will give it a try.
-
Nothing specifically, it was actually quite nice but the problem was that it is a 4 string fretted bass, and I have an Ibanez prestige 1000 something which I play more, so it is my least used one (I also have a squire vm fretless).
I played one of the new fender 5 string jazzes and quite fancied one but due to a large number of guitars, there is very much a 'what is leaving to make space for it' thing going on at home! -
Having bought quite a few guitars on ebay without trouble, there is no way I could buy a $5k bass without playing it first (obviously hypothetically, there is no way I could buy a $5k bass anyway ). Even if it was in New York and I was in LA. For me to pay that much it would have to be so perfect and call to me.

As ebay have pulled my Rockinbetter advert, as expected, I might as well do it up.
This vintage tone mod that I hear about, I don't seem to find any diagrams on the net for the wiring, does anyone know what it is?
My current idea is that if I stuck a battery in, and made a dual channel preamp, I could have the tone knobs working independently as the basic tone is good, but the balance between front and back is not great (in fact the front isn't great at all). -
I know there are very few tabs around for Japan songs (but then he didn't use that many whole notes!), but most are reasonably easy to work out. However, I really can't seem to get the main line of the verse.
Anyone know it?
Thanks. -

I suppose it depends how far back you're talking. In the late 70s the single that sold the album was released a few weeks before, then in the 80s it would get air play well before it was released. Then you might get 2 or 3 singles released from each album.

Depends on the group (and I am talking early 80s really). I know when I bought Rush, moving pictures it was on the first day, and there were no singles / radio / friends who had it. Lucky really as I hated it on first listen, even if it is one of my favourites now.
The dorkiest bass?

anything beyond 5 strings. Maybe beyond four.
