Ad says that Ged used the Jazz for 'Limelight' - but he's on record as saying that he played the Ric on that, but used the Jazz in the video ('Tom Sawyer being the reverse - Jazz on record, Ric in the video).

Yes, that is what I thought as I saw that interview the day before yesterday:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wma2NtQ1CIE

    at around 4:50.

I didn't know he had used Wals for a bit though. Which is odd as I saw them on the hold your fire tour, and didn't notice.

  2. Funny, I worked as an electronic engineer in whitehill in hampshire for 8 years. I suppose technically it was Bordon..

Welcome to the club, grab yourself a bass and learn, maybe you can be as good as <whoever>, maybe you can just be better than you were :D

  3. It is almost certainly a coincidence. Ebay does the first letter / last letter on auctions over a certain amount, which means any two bidders with a user name starting and ending with the same letters will appear to have the same name. Which means it is actually quite common for two people to appear to have the same name and different feedback.

    Seems legit to me.

The only bit I don't understand is why people are bidding before the last 5 minutes, but I guess that is because there is someone who hasn't bid before.

Anything with Squier on the headstock (apart from the original JV series).

So easy to get a used version of the 'real thing', why bother with cheap copies.

Bit like Japanese versions of a Harley - never taken very seriously :(

When I went to get a bass last I tried the Squire VM fretless and the Fender fretless (that was £300 more). The squier sounded better than the fender and was nicer to play. I don't really care if anyone takes it seriously, it was just a better bass :D

Although, maybe it because I am the type of person who wouldn't take anyone with a harley seriously!

  5. It's not a rickenbacker snob, I think it is just ric themselves have these things pulled. My rockinbetter advert lasted a while as I listed it on Friday evening so it went until the Monday morning until it was pulled as a copyright violation.

Brave man posting pictures though, I am sure the ric squad will be heading your way!

  6. Prices on ebay are pretty low, if you have a look at completed items you will find that the price of ibanez sr305 are around that. I have been looking as I am interested in the 505s or 705s, if I can get one at the right price.

There are quite a few round but I suspect they are fine. I have bought loads of instruments on ebay and haven't had any issues.

  7. When I got my rickenfaker it was like that, except not quite like that, the step occurred half way to the first fret. So I got some replacement strings on an expensive replacement string month, when I got some DR Chromes for the fretless and some new ernie balls for the ibanez, I got some generic strings for the rock and the notch came just after the nut. Don't know why it is so short.

  8. I love the headstock design on my darkfire:

Wunjo in Denmark St, Londinium gets my vote. Lots of stock, very friendly and good prices.. even for central London.

Yes, I had good service in there.

  10. Like this:

    http://www.rickenbac.../pdfs/19507.pdf

I might give it a try with a push pull pot or maybe a on off switch on the tone. I might also do the stereo thing too if I am going to keep it.

  11. Actually from putting guitars on ebay, I know how very difficult it is to show flaws in a guitar as they often don't show.

Its good that he is now offering the money back, but if he had done that in the first place maybe they wouldn't have had this issue and that thread (and the other part in that thread of someone else who couldn't get his money back).

But that front horn and stomach cut area, hmm.. I could do that

  12. Nothing specifically, it was actually quite nice but the problem was that it is a 4 string fretted bass, and I have an Ibanez prestige 1000 something which I play more, so it is my least used one (I also have a squire vm fretless).

I played one of the new fender 5 string jazzes and quite fancied one but due to a large number of guitars, there is very much a 'what is leaving to make space for it' thing going on at home!
