1. I have had this amp since just before christmas last year, and I have done every one of my gigs with it, and it has never let me down (or not been enough to cope with the gig).

I have a new TC-Electronics rh450 now, and although I was planning to keep the combo because it is easy to sling in the car and go out with, I thought it was a better idea to do everything on the rh450 so that I get used to it. so I am going to get some of the 112s for that.

Anyway, I am sure you know the spec if you are looking for one, 1 12" speaker, one tweeter, Amp with Gain Bass Middle Treble Volume, two toneprints, mute button, full time tuner and DI out.

    £180

Pickup from south somerset, or deliver to you if you are not too far away, or I guess postage if you want, I can look at how much it would cost.

  2. Just bought a RH450. Before that had (well still have) a BG250 combo, which has the same type of amps.

I am very happy with the RH, good sound, good controls and happy with it. An amp is pretty well an amp, works or doesn't, and I suspect the actual amp is not much different, so just the preamp difference.
The RH is very flexable and it is nice to have the spectracomp and the tubetone. The BG has two toneprints but you can only use one at once, and normally one of them was the spectracomp, although if I could have chosen to have a toneprint on the RH I would have had one, as it is nice to have (and very easy to use).

That gave me some fun when we performed Lou Reed's Vicious in front of 400 parents and children :) (it's about sado-masochism for our younger readers)

There was a program the other day which had a bit how they had booked Depeche mode to play their new single 'Master and Servant' on the morning kids program, and about them thinking it was funny

I don't know how a singer can sing lyrics without meaning, I find it bizarre. It also leads to embarrassing discussions, I won't do certain songs because the lyrics are either dodgy, like the racist song Sweet home Alabama or just because the lyrics are really stupid. Currently about to fall out with the band because I can't face playing Alanis Morissette's Ironic.

Well, I think 'ironic' annoys everyone, because obviously Alanis didn't know the difference between Irony and Stupid. Although that does make it quite ironic, so maybe she was right.
And there isn't anything racist in Sweet Home Alabama.

Funnily enough I listen to a lot of instrumental music and weep buckets when listening to some orchestral music.

A song that makes me sad is 千鶴 by GazettE. No idea what it is about!

  4. I have actually been pretty impressed with how good they have got. I had quite a few of the older ones (mostly on the guitar) and impressed at what has improved. I have just put a GK3B on a G&L L2500, and very surprised on the tracking on the B string.

I haven't looked at the MIDI output yet, to see if it was any better than the GR33, the midi of that is pretty messy, it starts out on one note and then pitch bends to the right one a lot.

Would love to get a VB99 (or maybe a VB999), but I guess it was always a niche for them.

  5. Seems reasonable to me.

I know some people in a tribute act. I wouldn't do it as I like some variety and not having the restrictions, but having seen some tributes and some originals of the same thing, some of the tributes have been better, so I guess it depends if you go to a show to be entertained or not.

Would it actually matter if you didn't know you were seeing the original band or not? How about groups like deep purple or Yes or the like that have hardly any original members - are they tribute bands?

I wouldn't seek any high ground, I play in a cover band and am quite happy with it.

  6. I have a hipshot on my jazz bass. It isn't the same thing at all. The hipshot is fine if you just want to go to d. The 5 string is pretty handy if you want to play the same thing as a 4 string but 5 frets up the neck.

Am I not allowed to like it just because I think it's a good album then?
Of course - if you find it a good album you will like it, if you don't you won't.

I just suspect that the fact it is David Bowie is a large influence on whether a lot of people give it more time to get to know it than they would if it was just some bloke noone had heard of.

And I am only saying that in a general sense rather than referring to anyone here.

  8. Has anyone tried using 2 of the 112s? I recently just got a rh450 and currently using a GK 410. Trouble is that is a bit heavy for me to lug around as I have a knackered knee. I thought if I got 2 of the 112s. I could use 1 in the places where I would have used the BG250 112 (which is everywhere), or 2 if I wanted a bit more level.

  9. I don't get clangy and harsh on my BG250 - 112, but then I tended to use a harkte bass attack in front ot if, so maybe that smoothes it off a bit. I don't notice much of a change from min to max.

I have just got a new TCElectronic rh450 that I am using with a 410, and I must admit it is a nicer sound, if less convenient!

  10. The lead I always go back to is one I got from ebay with one of the Neutrik switched connectors and van damme cable. I wouldn't buy anything other than that now. I need to buy a new one though, as the switched connector is a right angle so it isn't a great fit on the ibanezes with the socket on the front
