  1. We have that at the end. We finish (after the 5 one more songs). Put the instruments away and we are taking the PA of the poles when some guys come up with 'oh one more song guys)
  2. Agree with that, I have had that one. Give me a list of all your songs, then tell me which ones you want to audition. If I feel comfortable enough with those I will spend some time on the others too, but I have also (in this case joined a band) learned songs to be told 'oh we don't do that one any more' or 'we haven't started that one yet'
  3. I always mute the PA at everytime that we aren't using it, half time and as soon as we stop. We often get the drunk person who gets up to sing but there isn't much distance between me and the singer, and if they try coming up there, they are going to get a bass to the back of the head.
  4. To be fair, it is entirely Joe Walshes song, so I guess he gets to say who sings it. Axl Rose has a terrible weedy voice (regarless of the rest of his faults), so with a decent singer, they could have made the all time great rock songs, but his voice is just like very small nails on a blackboard and a let down at any point. Agreed that one isn't as bad as 'you could be mine' or 'welcome to the jungle'
  5. They aren't actually neck too heavy if you see what I mean. The balance is quite near the front, but they weigh so little it is hard to say, actually surprisingly light.
  6. Careful maybe, but the idea of not trying for an opportunity that you don't have the experience for is very negative. My whole work career involved applying for jobs that I didn't have the experience for but knew I could do once I had a chance, I don't see why a band should be any different. Not kidding myself that I would get the gig in any top level band, and I am too old now, but I know full well I can play the bass as least as well as many people I have seen, so if I had the opportunity, and availability, why the hell would I not audition?
  7. I think there is a large parallel thread of 'groups who you hate the singer of' going on in this thread!
  8. For me it's "you could be mine", such a powerful intro and then his horrible Whiny voice. the same as welcome to the jungle. But the one that I don't like a lot, because I like the song is the verse of this
  9. Didn't say that - just that some people might want to give it a try
  10. I'm guessing I could bring this chap along, as it might interest some
  11. I almost always play fingerstyle unless I am playing with a fingernail, but there are some songs which are pick songs, they just sound better with a pick. and then sometimes after a 3 gig weekend, your fingers just hurt, and a plectrum is good for that to
  12. A synth pedal, quite popular, here is its thread:
  13. If you pause a video at a certain time, and right click on it, you can select 'copy URL at a current time'
  14. Its a screenshot isn't it?
  15. Well, if you got it from a more expensive shop you might have found that the pickup was included in the electric guitar!
  16. I buy CDs and I am only 54. I also have streaming, but if I like something I buy it on CD. I had loads of vinyl back when they were records, certainly not going back to it now.
  17. Maybe not but he is a good drummer. Well, I like Nick Beggs, but it isn't him, it is Jonas Reingold and he played pretty well spot on Genesis stuff, and his vocals were also very good.
  18. The drummer is great, well, he did a drum solo last week which was hardly necessary, but other than that all was good. And the bass player is superb. I assume he will have the same.
  19. You are probably right in your imagination then! The prices are on the site. I would need one that cost about £600 for my stuff. Does look like it is worth it though, to someone who isn't me.
  20. They look great.. Don't think I am going to be able to afford one of those any time soon!
  21. I have one. I did a thread on it. It is a great bass, sounds good. Haven't played it for a while as it is a 4, but it sounds good. only thing on mine was I had to replace the switch as it was so squeaky. Here:
  22. That works fine!
  23. And just when you wonder what the point is, gig 3 comes along. You turn up at a pub in the countryside with a couple of people eating their lunch, and think 'this is going to be good'. Landlord is very friendly, loads of space to set up, so you set up, the people finish their lunch and say they are looking forward to hearing you, you start, at the end of the first number you look up, there are 10 people there, they all applaud. End of the 2nd number, there are 20 people there, some are already dancing. End of the 3rd number, it is heaving and loads of people are dancing, and it is like that for the next 2.5 hours. So much energy and fun, it was fantastic. at the end the landlord thanked us through the PA, everyone cheered, and as they left the pub all came up to say how good it was. Sometimes it works out.
  24. Well, you are a lot politer than I would be there. A landlord can choose to hire us or not, that is up to them. The makeup of the band is absolutely none of their business. edit - Moreso, if I was the keyboard player and there even discussions about this, I would be saying well, there are a lot of bands that need keyboard players, see you later guys.
