    I suppose sometimes we just get the right fit early on, but experimenting and finding other loves takes us away for a while? My full circle of going back to Stingrays as a first choice was really complete when I recently got back one I first bought 25 years ago! Still amazed and feeling blessed I got it back after making some tough choices 12 years ago.

    I’m in a similar position here @AndyTravis. Although it’s been fun buying and trying, I feel like I’m near saturation and have come full circle, which is actually nice and reaffirming.

    Bought new by me in Sept 2018. Good condition, well looked after, and just minor signs of use over 3 years - nothing nasty. The case has marks on the front from tight storage. Weighs 8.64lbs (3.92kg).. Some of these go up to 9.5lbs or more, so this one is a good weight for a HH Special. Back in 2018 the bodies were listed as swamp ash, now it’s just ambiguously stated as ‘select hardwood’.... Has a neck to die for, is roasted maple and a great shape. The tones are plentiful with the HH and the new revoiced EQ which is incredibly versatile and useable across the full sweeps. This is far and beyond the most ergonomic Ray they have released, very comfy to hold.     £100 collected. Postage extra at cost, only a one’er in my pocket will persuade me to sell 😉 My favourite pickups, I just don’t have a spare P Bass to install it in, and no plans to buy one.     Reluctant sale forced by longstanding shoulder issues. Bought new by me in December 2019, very well looked after and nicely set up. I used a sound hole tuner, which has left a small mark caused by reaction to the nitro - doh! It doesn’t look too bad (see pics), but I’ll include the tuner with the sale, very handy. My feedback -

    I bought this for my wife to learn on when we first met. I think it’s best suited to a learner - very cheap and cheerful. Smaller body than Dreadnought size, similar to a Martin 000 or OM. Nice and easy action, and neck is fine. Sound wise, well it’s a £50 guitar, so you know the score, I ain’t gonna lie..! Fair condition, just some honest dings and scratches, but nothing nasty. Comes with basic carry case.

    Though a truss adjustment will affect the action, you’re best off setting the truss to how you want the neck, then adjusting the saddles. If the saddles are at the lowest, try a neck shim if you’re happy to go that route on a new bass - some people will, some won’t. Most of all, are you sure the truss is actually working fine?

    Any help please? Wondering what these strings are. Seem like 45 - 100 nickel - but unlike D’Addario have a silver D ball end not black. E - Brass A - Red D - Silver G - Blue, maybe green. Hard to say as have some minor colour blindness. Cheers

    Those prices contribute to why I just withdrew my Special from the market place today - it’s a great bass that I bought new in ‘18 so I might as well keep hold now for a rainy day, as for me a new one has got well out of reach. Good score on the TC, love that it’s passive and hope you do a NBD 👍

    I’m on a bass cull, and it just occurred to me the 3 I’m keeping were all once sold and then bought back my me. One was sold during a rough period, one best described as sold to fund a family emergency, and one because I was buying back an old vintage bass (the irony) but got that decision wrong. Best of the bunch to get back is the ‘95 Ray I grew up on, found again about 12 years after I sold it during a tough time. 2 came back from the bassist I sold them to, my beloved ‘95 Ray after years of failed emails and eBay searching, finally saw it on eBay and pounced. What are your tales?

    @steerpike65Simon just visited to buy my Bravewood Jazz - not an easy bass to let go of, so glad it went to one of the good guys. We’d been communicating for some time, while I decided whether or not to sell, and all the time Simon was friendly and easy going. Highly recommend guy to deal with. Enjoy the bass 👍

    Not an easy choice, completely different animals in terms of tone and feel (aside from the obvious that one is a 5er 😂). But both will be a great purchase for sure.
