But what you also need to factor in, is that competitor company staffed by bell ends? Will they do as good a job?

Sometimes its good to stick with what you know.

Agreed. I'm not for one minute saying go with the other company but if he knows a price for the whole package, he can determine if he is getting a good deal for helping load and unloading.

2. Played a JHs vintage jazz for ages at 9.5lbs and could not believe the difference when I bought a squier VM 77 jazz. Just over 7lbs. Feels like it's floating when I play it.

Nice one, do I get commission

Surely that's for you to discuss with the seller not the buyer :)
Thanks again for the heads up on it. £100 off the retail price and still with labels on and full warranty.

4. Great. I bought 2 rumble 112 cabs yesterday and am really impressed with sound using my Hartke LH500 head. Thinking of looking at the rumble 500 head to go with it as it will be lighter than the hartke.

Been using a pair of these for a year and very happy with them. Have gigged with just one very happily, but like the extra oomph of the pair.

Cool. Will be trying them out tomorrow

I appreciate the advice from all and accept that if I get more cash together I can get better but that's not an option at the moment.

There are a couple up for grabs here (please note, no affiliation with this store, just spotted them the other day and thought a pretty good deal):

Cheers Lozz. Just spoke to them and going in tomorrow to try/buy.

7. Due to a mixture of weight and storage issues and more importantly most gigs coming up are in small to medium pubs I want to change my cabs.

I currently use a TC electronic BC212 and do have another one but very rarely need to use both other than to elevate the one cab I'm using. These cabs are OK but not the lightest.
I like the sound of 12s so wanted to move to two single 12s therefore having the ability to only use 1 at small pub gigs and practising.
I use a hartke LH500 amp and play a squier VM jazz. We play jam and who covers and it's just me plus one guitar and drums.

Budget is prob £150-£250 per cab so will have to be second hand and I will buy one first and then get a second later.
(I could use 1 paired up with a bC212 until I get another one if need be)
Be interested to hear some suggestions but so far am keen on
Hartke hydrive 112
Fender rumble 1x12 V3

Thanks in advance

8. We have these on our EV zlxp 12 speakers. It goes up to +10 but goes down to about -70 Db and I've never understood it. We only use them for vocals and normally set them at about +5 with the other volume about half way but no idea if that's correct. The manual does not tell you much and never been able to find out online how to set it up correctly.

Have you thought of trying a short scale bass?
It's not that I need a light bass as such. I choose a bass on other factors but I would find a lighter bass a bonus.

10. I understand that wood weighs different according to batch but these differences were very noticeable.
As weight is a factor for me (prolapsed disc) it means that I can't rely on buying one via the Internet even if I've tried one in a shop beforehand.

11. I'm in the process of looking to buy the squier vintage modified 4 string jazz in black as it ticks all boxes for me.
However I tried one in pmt Bham other day and despite really liking it I thought I'd shop around to see if there were any cheaper. I came across a smaller shop that stocked one and although it was slightly cheaper the main thing that struck me was it definitely felt lighter than the same one in pmt. I know it's hard to tell as it was a few days apart but as soon as I picked then second one up it just felt really light.
I haven't bought either yet.
Am I going mad or could it be maybe a change in production could change weight. No mention of weights on fender Web site.

12. After buying some cheap and nasty monitors that we cant hear , my band have decided to revisit the monitor situation. Was about to order some active Alto truesonics and then I had an idea. I use a Hartke LH500 and like it that much I have a spare exactly the same.
Could I run a signal out of the monitor sends on our mixer into the spare LH500 and then into a pair of passive PA speakers for monitors (obviously they would be ohm and watt compatible)
Wasn't sure if a bass amp could do this. We only put vox through PA.

If it's feasible would it be better to run signal into main input of the amp or into the fx return?
Thanks in advance

13. What tires me out is the setting up and taking down more so than performing.
Are you using light weight gear and thus minimising the amount of heavy lifting? Do you have anyone that could help set up for a small fee or even better for free?

Saw that on TOTP '81 the other night and thought it would fit in our set list nicely. Glad someone else likes it.
Yes I saw it too. They looked off their heads!!!
It's a very easy song to play and I would say that in the 50 or so gigs we've played it at, it's gone down really well at all of them :)

15. I don't think a combo that size will be loud enough for that genre and with a drummer. For 250 quid you should be able to pick up something a bit bigger second hand. May be something on the marketplace here

16. Haven't checked the cab specs but as long as they are 250 8ohm each then you will be fine. I run my LH500 with 2 x TC electronic BC210 and these are also rated as 250w 8ohm cabs. You could also run it with just one as long as you don't crank it up too high.
LH500 are great easy to use amps. Never need mine up past 3 or 4 on volume and that's with a loud drummer in pub gigs
