  1. Ev zlx15p 15" powered speaker. Very loud but unfortunately stopped working last week. An Amp repairer in Bham looked at it and said it needed a new power module which are £200 from EV factory. Maybe a good buy for somone who wants it for parts or may be able to pick up the parts cheaper. Collect from Wombourne near Wolverhampton £30
Can send a picture if required but it is in good condition with just a few marks.

Anything electronic can fail and there's so much kit out there being used day in day out but you mainly only hear about the kit that fails on the tinternet.

Yes i fully agree. Its just that in last 2 years i have bought 5 bass amps and 1 active speaker second hand and 4 of them have failed within a few weeks of having them.

  3. I went and had a listen to the new truesonics yesterday and was actually impressed with the sound so bought the 12" version. Should make a perfect monitor for our next few gigs and then we can buy another one at Christmas.
It has a 3 year warranty which is what we wanted too.

Just need to regain my faith in amps again and appreciate not all used gear is dodgy. We did a birthday party on friday with a DJ and he was using some brand new RCFs and one of his tops failed. It can happen to new gear too.

  4. Has anyone used the new Alto truesonic range of PA speakers. (These are the ones with a number 2 in front of the speaker size ie 212 for the 12")

After my post in repairs section we need new monitors and our intention is to have a pair and therefore also have a back up for our EV FOH speakers.

The SPL is improved on the previous truesonic and they are nicely priced as our budget for monitors is £500. Getting fed up of buying dodgy used gear now so we want to use new and get the warranty.

  5. Apparently power module has gone and £200 to replace. Gutted as we paid £180 for this one, had it 4 months and only used it a handful of times. PMT warranty is 3 months on used gear.

Think im going to avoid buying used gear in future as been stung a few times. Would rather have peace of mind of the warranty

I think that's a bit unfair on the LH series, it is a stonkingly good simple amp. As with all things there are plenty of people who like and plenty who don't but I don't think it falls into the Kilo or TX category :)

I have to agree. Whilst i am disappointed with the reviews ive read on the TX, the LH amps are great and ive got plenty of decent sounds from mine. Can be purchased very cheap now too.

Which is a pity as it could be something as simple as a dry joint...

Ive spoken to the repairer as PMT have passed me his details to deal direct. He seems a genuine person and ive told him to tell me cost before he attempts to fix it.
    Thanks

  8. Great review. I had been considering buying one but had also heard from other reviews over the pond that the volume was sadly lacking so i went fot a GK MB500 instead.

Having said that i still have my Hartke LH500 which is insanely loud.

  9. We use a pair of EV ZLXp 15" powered speakers for vocal PA and one died last night. Power just went off. Tried different power leads but still nothing. No light on just completely dead.
Anyone know a possible cause and if its likely to be expensive before i take it for repair. We bought it second hand about 6 months ago.

  10. I adore playing bass live. The enjoyment of playing to a crowd and locking in with a drummer is what i do it for.

However if you mean how does my own particular bass make me feel then that is different. I play a squier vm jazz bass and whilst i am happy with it, it was the best bass i could afford and will probably always be. I would like to be able to have the opportunity to play a bass for its playability rather than its price tag but thats never going to happen.

  11. There are dozens of threads on here about flats that will give you info on peoples personal preferences. It comes down to what sound you want. Some retain a certain zing and others are very dead sounding. Tension is also a factor.
A good start is fender flats as they are very cheap at £20 a set so you are not spending a lot to just try and they give a good typical flat sound and feel.

    My favourites are Daddario chromes.

I would never go back to rounds now.

    Followed by sex on dire?

I'm just the dep so I do as I'm told. Should the dep express an opinion?

And.. The whole two set thing doesn't make sense. Get the punters warmed up, disappear for 1/2 hour and start all over again. Why not stick with it for 2 hours?

I think audiences like a break too. Especially with the smoking ban it gives smokers the chance to nip outside for a fag and to chat to each other. Dont think i could do 2 hours straight

Bonzodog - Have you got one of these new Hartke heads yet?
    [/quote]

No not yet. I did read somewhere that the output was not to the level youd expect for 600w but appreciate a lot depends on what cabs you use. Going to try and see if i can find somewhere to try first
