Isn't that the shop on Hadleigh Road? If so I thought was pretty big already and stuffed full of expensive goodies!

Yes thats the one although its actually Hagley road. Now a lot bigger!

2. Heads up for anyone that frequents this shop that they have just increased size of the whole shop and therefore considerably increased their selection of basses in store.
The old shop is still there for acoustic guitars but they have opened a new premises a few yards away for electrics.
I was in there this morning and was very impressed by the selection of basses.
Really friendly staff too without being pushy.

3. I am still very puzzled as to why the vintage model shown earlier in the thread is still not showing on the epiphone web site under news or new products. Surely it would have been announced by now!
I am planning a new purchase in the summer and this was high on my list of ones to try.

4. Would have to agree with you on Geezer. I was listening to bands in late 70s early 80s without much interest in bass. Then i heard sabbaths first album and his sound and playing really hit me. May not be the most technical but his sound got me hooked on playing bass. Its a shame that i think that bass sound and style he had on first 3 or 4 albums disappeared on albums after that.

5. Another happy VM jazz user here. Its my main bass, incredibly light and good build quality. I have never been influenced by name badges and peer pressure so I have no issues with only playing Squiers. In the past if ive had cash free ive played a MIM with a view to buy but never seen any improvement on the Squier VM. Ive also just bought a VM Precision and again cannot fault it at all.

6. Yes as above the way you are doing it is fine. If your amp has two speaker outputs then connect one speaker to each but more and more amps only have one output.
As mentioned above i am assuming your amp is probably 4ohm so you need to make sure your speakers are 8ohm each otherwise you will run into trouble.

7. As you know i have the same battle. Sometimes i think i should have kept my tony butler but it was never getting played. I now have a vintage modified precision but still use the jazz at every gig because i prefer the feel and the tone. Just bought an SPB3 to try on my precision to hopefully convince me to use it more.

Unless the lids are much deeper than normal I wouldn't consider that rack to be big enough, as for me part of the point of rack mounting amps is so I can have the speaker, mains and any other leads permanently attached to the amp in order to speed up setting up.

+1
Thats what i was going to say. Surely you want the case deeper at the back to have your mains and speaker leader permanently plugged in. Thats how i had my old LH500 before i switched to class d

^ From the YT video description..

"Just fitted Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounds pickups and a Fender Hi-mass bridge to my Squier VM 5 P-Bass. Strung it with flat wounds.."
Ive just bought some quarterpounders off here to go on my Squier VM p bass with chromes so glad to read this. Although mine is a 4 string.

10. IIRC she joined the band because of her boyfriend and didn’t play bass. She only took it up as that was the only vacant role. I think they all looked to David as a strict headmaster rather than a band mate. Nonetheless she became a great bass player and musician

11. So we were booked to do a 50th birthday last night. Arrived to find the room was up two flights of stairs and the people attending was now 40 instead of the original estimate of over 100. Plus he was a works colleague of the guitarist so we were doing mates rates.

Turned out to be a great night. Lovely family who danced all night and some of the younger kids were so impressed they actually had a live band in the room. There was a queue of kids at the end of the night having photos taken holding our gear which was great. The guy whos birthday it was has had a rough couple of years so he was visibility emotional with how well it went.

So was one of the smallest gigs we had ever done and i earnt very little money but I drove home feeling proud we had given his family a night to remember.
