HI I am replying to your email at the moment. I have just called the guy and had a right bloody go at him (again). All this stress of the last few weeks is killing me, I'm sure! It's completely unacceptable for it to arrive in a ball. That wont happen again. The shirt should be as described, a decent quality polo. I'll refund you immediately (we'll talk via email) because if you aren't happy, I'm not happy (and neither wil the embroiderer be after I'm done with him) I hope everyone else is happy with theirs. From now on all shirts are going to be quality checked, folded up properly and posted via 1st class signed for post. Sorry you guys had to be the test pilots on this one. I'm going to have a lie down, I think I need to give the internet a rest for a few months ped
PED,dont do anything.I've PMd you.Alls well.

Shirt arrived this morning.Frankly for £19 I expected better quality.I've bought sturdier shirts off Ebay for £7.Don't know about anybody else but mine arrived stuffed in a padded envelope. Not what I was expecting. However,I'll wear it with pride.

Still not here Ped.Thanx for the update tho'. PS.Just checked my Paypal account.Payment was sent on 11/9/11.Is that one of the first batches?

Ringing (ghost?) notes on a Washburn 6er.
squire5 replied to squire5's topic in Repairs and Technical
I hear what you're saying icastle, but what intrigues me that neither of my 5's give anything like this trouble. Is in just inherent with 6ers?And if so,how come?Thats just a generic question,by the way,I'm not asking you directly.I too have moved from 4s thru 5s and onto a 6,and it's only now I'm having this trouble. You're probably right,it is a question of technique.I'll just need to keep practising,I guess. -
Ringing (ghost?) notes on a Washburn 6er.

Ok Bilbo.Well its reassuring,in a way,to know that it's not the bass at fault. You would need to be pretty dextrous to damp all the other notes by hand.I'll just need to find a way to damp the other strings. As I said,I tried the Scrunchie thing, but that didn't work. I'm starting to get a bit disillusioned, like yourself, but I'll not give up.I'll see what others have to say. -
I recently bought a Washburn XB600 on this very forum. The bass is fine but there are a few anomalies that are doing my head in.There seem to be a lot of ringing notes.Let me elaborate, but bear with me 1.When I fret E (C string 4th fret) it causes the E and A strings to vibrate, which in turn causes a loud E note to reverberate, and can only be stopped by damping those 2 strings. 2 B in the G string 4th fret causes the E and B strings to do the same thing. 3The worst is the E on the G string 9th fret which cause a loud E note which seems to increase in volume the longer you leave it.Again can only be stopped my muting the E and A strings 4 A on the C string 9th fret causes the open A to ring. So you see, playing runs and fills on this bass is spoiled by these rogue notes.I had thought of finding a way of dampening all the strings at the nut for instance, which would stop open strings from vibrating when they shouldn't (a la Scrunchie).I tried one of those but it makes no difference, because it didn't exert enough pressure. QUESTION: Am I stuck with this problem? Has anyone had this problem and overcome it (or not,as the case may be?)Any thoughts or pointers gratefully received,as I am now reluctant to use this bass onstage in its present form.

Same here. Was hoping to have it for Saturday. If it was Ebay I'd be lodging a 'Goods not received' claim by now.Still,I'll give it another day or so.
Isn't that just Newry You weren't by chance at the wedding band showcase thingy in Antrim at the weekend?
No.wasn't there.The thing is,we're not really a wedding band,but if somebody asks us to do a Wedding.....well, we're not fussy.We'll play anywhere

Changed my mind. Its a Bm with an added G#.That is all.
-
I think we'll leave it at E or E7.Well done Earbrass you were the first to suggest it.
That'll be a Bmin6 then #=# er, I mean hash key
D'oh!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5wFJEyj1rU&feature=fvst Found this.he seems to play a simple E or E7 at the 'incubator' point. The lost chord??
-
Bm with a G sharp?Hmm.That actually seems right. It works.my problem had been that we dont have keyboard in our lineup so we were trying to make it work with just guitar and bass. But that combo definitely works. What does the team think?I had thought that Garry's E7 might have been right.PS how d'ya get the 'Sharp' icon on your keyboard?
-
Just found a track on Spotify with Glen Tillbrook doing the song on his own with just an acoustic.Guess what he plays.....Straight Bminor! But even as SteveK suggested the Bminor 6th still doesn't sound right either.I wonder if Jools Holland follows BC??
-
EDIT Also - the incubator verse seems to be in a different key from the first verses and the following one. I think it's one whole tone lower than the other verses (so if other verses are principally E/A, the incubator verse wd be D/G).
Yes,you're right. The song starts in E and then makes its way into the key of D,and then back to E again.I've tried playing a G sharp on top of the Bflat in question and it doesn't sound too bad,but when you experiment and try the same thing in the key of E (IE playing a Bflat on top of the Dflat minor chord) it definitely doesn't work, which leads me to believe that the band play a variation of Bflat at the point I mentioned.God this is getting complicated.
-
Can anybody help?In the Squeeze song, Up the Junction, what is the chord thats played on the word 'incubator'?Sounds like it should be B minor, but there's something different about it.All the other chords at that point in the other verses are deffo B minor.Any tabs I've checked also say B minor, but I maintain theres something odd about the Incubator one.Does anybody agree,or am I just going mental?

Yeah. It's an old Selmer amp from about 1968.Google it.

To any of the N.Ireland BCers. You know the Canal Court Hotel in Newry???. Why is it that some hotels look like a million dollars from the front, you know all floodlights and all that Pazazz, whereas round the back IE where the band loads in,is usually stinking with refuse bins, bags of putrid crap lying everywhere, slidy floors etc.We had been booked for a Wedding there last night The loading in bay was tiny,so we could barely squeeze our 3 cars in ( we all travel independently). Then we had to unload our gear, squeeze past a great big recycling unit the size of 4 skips, into a stifling hot kitchen offshoot. We them had to load our gear,in batches,in to a tiny lift, because the gig was on the 2nd floor.having got the gear up there,we had to wait until they'd finished stuffing their faces and then load onto the small stage, with the crowd still milling about, stifling hot. Just about to start we got the message 'you guys will have to move your cars, there's another band wanting to get in!' Moved the cars to various car parks around the Hotel as it's car park was full.Quick mike test and away.3rd number in,my bass rig decided it was too hot and gave up.Played through the PA for a while and then tried the amp again, which thankfully lasted to the end of the night.Crowd danced for the first 3 numbers then sat down again.Disco on after us,so we had to break down the gear and load out through the crowd back to the tiny lift, back to the stinking back yard, and eventually, home.Canal Court Hotel, never again. Gig paid well,I must admit, but we earned it.I was a bit annoyed as I never got to give my Washburn BX600 that I bought of Sprocketflup on this very forum,it's first real stage trial.

Laurence at Overwater just sorted out a minor problem that I had in ordering from them efficiently and courteously.
