1.
In the area later.....i will investigate
You could always buy it for the neck, detatch it and use it to stir a giant witches cauldren... should you be that way inclined
2.
Just looked at the (terrible) pics.....i might go along to see what it is??
No harm in popping in it's a shame it doesnt look original, I love shergold marathons.
3. Can we just take over a corner, bring our gear and have a BC bash instead?
4. Thats not a shergold neck, look at the headstock
5.
Regardless of whether Basschat will be there officially, those of us who attend the show can agree to meet up in a certain place at a certain time once or twice a day, for instance, at the cafe or at one of the larger stands. Would anyone be up for that?
We need some sore of masonic signal to identify fellow BCers, the traditional rolled up trouser leg perhaps?
6. I guess it's that in the 60s and 70s most of the general population listened to music featuring traditional band instruments (including bass). So those that are now middle aged and can afford to go out to watch bands, are able to go out to a pub and listen to the music of their youth... 90% of regular 9 till 5 folk these days have only a passing interest in music and the music that they do listen to is all digital (rnb, chart stuff etc) so they would have little interest in listening to a covers band playing stuff they've never heard of.
7.
"Wot you lookin' at, never seen a parsnip before?!"
They were well ard... nearly smashed me teeth in...
8. Congratulations... what a great gig
9. I may put in an apperance on the Saturday as Mrs C is off to air her indignation at a protest against something or other in parliment square... Think I'll bring my bass and try out a few pedals etc just for fun As a side note, anyone attending on Sunday I'd advise against having a roast in the pub around the corner... last years offering contained the worlds hardest ever parsnips...
10.
Maybe you heard that high-pitched whine they produce, whilst inaudible to most humans, makes eagles ill..?
Quite right... they will never catch on...
11.
Typically Rob if you're just turning up as a guest, you'd do a couple of numbers of your choice. Some jams want to know what tunes before, others just want to know you're coming. They vary hugely - some can be a closed shop, or the standard pretty intimidating, others very welcoming.
I like the idea of it and although I like to visulise myself turning up and jumping straight in, in reality I'd be absolutely terrified and never even get to the point of introducing myself!
12. Having said I am GAS free an hour ago, I now have raging GAS for this that has just popped up in the classifieds... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/256599-yamaha-trbx-305-5-string-bass-guitar-gloss-white-as-new-l250/ I am a lost cause...
13. Sold
14.
My old one Sorry it didn't work out for you Rob. I replaced it with a Zoom B3, which is great (particularly the amp modelling sims), but I really do miss the ME50B because it's so interactive and fun to play with.. Not only that, but some of it sounds are more 'authentic' to my ears than those on the Zoom.. Just to add that, this was properly checked out by my amp tech not long before I sold it to Rob. Hmmm....?
It's an excellent unit I plugged it in for an hour when I got home after meeting you and literally haven't touched it since! Guess that kind of shows I'm not really in need of a multi FX...
15. How do Jazz jams work? I've never been to one... I always hoped they would be the kind of thing where someone told you what key you were going to jam in and off you went? I'd like that I'd be less interested if you were expected to know a load of standards I would never have heard of...
16. I probably see more players with Markbass rigs than any other, they seem to be the standard these days. So they must be doing something right
17. Excellent price... I don't think you'll have the opportunity to buy one of these for this price again anytime soon. Tone is subjective etc etc but for me there are none better than a Wal.
18. It really is incurable... It's a matter of controling it. I have all the bass gear I will ever need for my lifetime, Im not looking for anything to improve my set up in any way... but yesterday I was looking through various cort curbows thinking I might just get one for noodling on... Why whould I do that? I can just noodle on my existing bass Its hopeless...
19. I have a pair of noise canceling over ear type headphones that I wear on the train to block out members of the general public bellowing at each other about Arsenal... I don't even play any music through them sometimes.
20. *Sold* Boss ME50B - £90 Posted in the UK (No Power Supply) Standard multi-FX, loads of bells and whistles. I've enjoyed messing around with this since I picked it up from here last year but I just have no use for it... I never use effects so a multi-FX is kinda surplus to requirements really. Earliest I can get to the post office to send out will be Saturday the 28th of February.
21. *Sold* MXR Brick - £60 Posted in the UK Power distribution block - I'm sure it didn't come with this many cables but I seem to have 20 of various lengths which I will include. Slight velcro residue on the underside. Earliest I can get to the post office to send out will be Saturday the 28th of February.
22. *Sold* SFX Thumpinator - £75 Posted in the UK (no box or power supply) Pretty sure everyone knows about these and what they do... But just in case you don't, this is basically a High Pass Filter that cuts all of those inaudibly low frequencies that make your speakers jump out of the cab without actually improving your tone. I've found it very useful for getting the most out of my cabs as they can go louder without breaking up. Also makes everything sound a little tighter and punchier. Earliest I can get to the post office to send out will be Saturday the 28th of February.
23. Sold Ditto Looper - £55 Posted in the UK (no box or power supply) Had great fun with this little looper. One click to start recording, another click to stop recording and loop, then click again to overdub another phrase. Super easy and very clean recording quality. Only selling as I want the new boss one that does pretty much exactly the same thing only can run on batteries. Earliest I can get to the post office to send out will be Saturday the 28th of February.
24. Very happy with Wal, Glockenklang, Purple Chili at the moment... No reason to suspect I won't be GASing after something completely different by this time next year though
