Finally got some bass recorded on mine. I might try some lyrics, but here it is just now... https://soundcloud.c...he-auroral-zone
Dude - I really like this - not a million miles from the approach I took with mine although your's gets on with the dancey stuff a bit more sharpish than mine - I like the fact you let it rave-away and let the drums and bass do the talking... very cool
https://soundcloud.c...cola-polar-bear Boom, and I'm in,
Dave - that's excellent - Zappa-tastic too - love all the mad guitar unison lines and crazy lyrics too - really ambitious stuff all pulled together very niceley. Good work both of you. Any thoughts feedback on my tune would be massively appreciated - I have no idea whether I've suceeded in getting something half decent together or if it sucks big time - thanks again Mike

Some folks take an interest in my Sei single cut at gigs - some get string blindness and assume as it's an unusual body shape that it's obviously a 'six string' - while it's only ever been a 5 - I've had some people even comment "is that a Sei, I've never seen one, can I touch it etc..." depending on how nice or nutty they look I usually let them try it... sometimes not! Personally I spot pedals and laptop/software stuff... all in the name of research obviously
I am a composition virgin no more , my first entry , ooh er missus , I have really enjoyed having a go at this , thanks for all the help I have had so far , I am sure I will be back fo more . I don't totally understand, but the soundcloud mix I have uploaded does sound a bit different to my original, I think my synth sounds are a bit brighter. for your interest here
Sounds good for a first effort - you've created a great sense of narrative, and it works well - the simple layering of ideas works great - and all the sounds are good too - good effort
Would appreciate some feedback myself if anyone can spare the time. Cheers https://soundcloud.c...words-entry-for
Steve - that's a nice track - I like the flow and while it does meander a bit it's a perfect evocation of the idea of staring at the sky in wonder - nice playing and sounds too so all good As for mine I'm not liking the latest mix - note to self, wait a couple of days before posting! I've drowned out the melodic content with ear bleed drums and bass.. which is not necessarily a problem but it's messed up the tuneful side of the song... will fix and repost in time for the closing date.

Eh up, just wanted to tip you guys to the new Kyle Eastwood album - called The View From Here - I've followed Kyle's stuff over recent years, but always felt it's been a bit over-produced but this one is really good - it's a great five-piece band all playing live in the studio, lots of great grooves, melodies and some fruity solos from all concerned - it's kind of swinging jazz-into-funk with other influences - very film-score-esque in places. Kyle's playing has really come on - his solos are superb plus he's really solid when backing - all in all I'm impressed - there's a sound clip here (it's the opening track) and it's out in March: https://soundcloud.com/airartistagency/from-rio-to-havana-kyle Just thought some of y'all might dig it Cheers M

Not sure you guys have checked out Jimmy with Holdsworth but he played great with this band, a lot more raw and really going for it... whole gig here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWPLaY9SyOY

All good chaps - I'm surprised I got mine done already - love to hear any thoughts or comments on it, the thing I love about doing this to a deadline is I feel I can experiment more and get away from my usual working methods - so it's all about learning and developing... innit?!
That's pretty great, nice melding of the crazy synth stuff and the more restrained jazzy stuff.
Thanks dude - I'll check yours out and see if I can offer any advice - and sorry I just tweaked a couple of things on mine - here's a new link: Remix re-upped - sorry last time now! https://soundcloud.com/munkio/trippy-tundra-oslos-revenge

OK here's mine - I took inspiration from my trips to Norway in recent years - especially in the middle of winter, when it gets insanely cold - when the beauty of the snow and ice give way to some serious partyng (drinking) as it's the only way to keep warm at -12! Hope you enjoy it - love to hear your comments on it - let me know what you think.... https://soundcloud.com/munkio/tripp-tundra-oslo-nights

I saw this recently and I think it sums up a lot of these arguments: http://youtu.be/ByglxFeQBOY

Annoyingly I've become quite obsessed with my new tune... it's a catchy little bugger, I just hope I can get it into a listenable state by the end of the month... it's danger of having new (Omnisphere) synths to explore as well - just too much fun... anyway I'll keep you posted
-
got something cooking already - not sure I'll submit it as I may not be able to get it to a satisfactory stage by the end of the month... but hey this is good motivation - nothing like having a deadline to spur you on... no excuses!
-
... and no clowns this time please Paul Hope I can submit something - got a crazy busy month ahead so it may have to wait...
-
Well done Paul - if you keep this up you'll have an album - or an EP at least - by the end of the year... nice one! Cheers M
Robert, you are a big boy now, you don't need to refer to it as your 'button' anymore.

Oh, but he does...
damn - I should have voted for myself

Sorry for the re-post - mainly for Charic's benefit - but please enter this mix in the comp final listening thingamy - thanks! https://soundcloud.com/munkio/what-lies-beneath-final-mix

If you use Logic you can just go 'bounce in place' on your VST tracks - this will then bounce an audio version of your MIDI track on to a new audio track - simples.
Its my Vsts, Mike. They are slippery little suckers
I think a smidge of reverb on that opening 'piano' line and maybe some panning etc during the mix would add some 'sonic' interest to the piece but like I said, the ideas are very good - but do whatever you like with it - like you said on your earlier post, performing/recording/mixing to a deadline involves a lot of different skill sets.... it ain't easy!
-
Good outcome for me this month. I have, for a long time, struggled with mixing midi as it kept missing bits out. But I know why now so made progress! May remix mine in light of this new knowledge as there is a layer missing!
Rob I really liked yours - it was a little 'dry' in the mix at the beginning but as the other parts come in it really gains momentum and proved a really engaging listen - good work man - go ahead a remix it and bung it up before the closing date... it'll be good to hear the final version. Good stuff Mike
-
Sorry - I just had to add some sub bass and give the mix a tweak - this really is the FINAL mix! https://soundcloud.com/munkio/what-lies-beneath-final-mix

Good work Jodie Love this tune - will have a crack at learning the melody for sure Cheers M
