1. I've just bought a pair of Genelec powered monitors, so my trusty Yamaha HS80M's are for sale. These are really excellent, very accurate powered monitors, in perfect cosmetic condition, and in full working order. They're apparently the descendant of the NS10's, but I think that may be more a cosmetic thing than anything. Here's a review - http://www.soundonso.../yamahas80m.htm I still have the original boxes and packaging, but I'd rather buyers collect, they're pretty heavy, and obviously quite fragile. They're currently at my parents house in Birmingham. Photos to follow. £150 the pair.
2. Another slightly longer track https://an-ending-ascend.bandcamp.com/track/in-the-shadow-of-one-from-another
3. It's funny I just have bass, mid and treble controls and don't really use them very much.
4. Bear in mind that there's a low Db in there, in the original riff, so even in E you'd want to tune down to get that.
5. Anyone tried one ? You can get one for free if you buy 2 other pedals http://www.tcelectronic.com/presents-for-all/
6. Low end do a nice one, there's on advertised in the basses for sale section.
7. I have a transcription if you want it.
8. We just played this at uni last week, the intro, first verse and first chorus, on bass, then had to play the rest on synth bass. I play a 6, so had no problem, those on a 4 string either tuned the whole bass down a semi-tone, so they still had the 4th tuning, others just tuned the E to Eb. It's up to whatever you feel comfortable with.
9.
The analogy also breaks down in that recorded music can be replicated infinitely with no effort, whereas coffee requires a significant amount of labour to produce every single individual copy. It's not that they can "afford to give music away", it's that they know what they're doing and are with the times. You're essentially saying that they shouldn't do it because you don't want them to, even though they can make their recordings as available as they desire. If you really think that distributing your recorded portfolio with bytes is all "just for nothing" then just don't bother. All creative fields do it, it's easier now than ever before, and only certain musicians want change for it. You're right in that it's not about getting a foot in the door; it's about putting some shoes on first before going out there.
But they're not giving it away, U2 got paid by iTunes, it was iTunes who gave it away.
10. Anyone tried this with bass ? http://www.tcelectronic.com/t2-reverb/
11. I like the way that Bandcamp lets users search for music from the tags that you the artist have put to the music, I don't think that applies to either Amazon or iTunes. I've had people contact me via Bandcamp that have just found my music on there. I'm doing a collaboration with a guy that used to be in Rothko for instance, he just happened to come across my music, just through the search function and the tags.
12. I have some Bach inventions from my degree course that are really challenging, but very nice to play. The Bach chorales are cool too.
13.
This coffee analogy doesn't work though, if star bucks are comparable with a band like kings of Leon then your little coffee brand is no more than a cart in the street so no matter how Nice your coffee is unless you can get a few people to taste it those £3s are going to keep heading to star bucks. As musicians we make out that we are the only ones having to do this,I can't think of a business that hadn't had to sell them selves short initially to get a foot on the door.
It's not just my music, or the OP's music that people expect for nothing, it's music in general. The huge problem is that big name bands give theirs away. U2 for instance, and Radiohead with their pay what you want. They can afford to give their music away, it doesn't really matter to them, because they're not really giving it away free. Radiohead made more from in rainbows than their previous album, and U2 got a fortune from iTunes. The public however, perceive that it's for nothing. It's also not a question of getting a foot in the door, the precedent is set so that it's just for nothing, whether you're an established band, or total newcomers.
14. I use cd baby too - iTunes and amazon both require UPC codes, you can get them off cd baby for $10.

16.
I'm sure Foderas feel absolutely fantastic, but the designs have always left me completely cold! The Monarch for example, just looks very pedestrian to me and not at all striking. Just feels like the proportions are just slightly out, somehow...Never got on with the sound either. Too much modern-sounding (Warwick-esque, I guess!) growl, and never heard an example on one capable of a warm, more vintage tone. All personal opinion of course! But I mean, seriously, this monstrosity for 7K!?...That body looks like Snoopy with his mouth open!
I'd rather have that than some of the other really very ugly single cut basses, there are a couple of UK builders that seem to have thought to themselves, lets do a single cut design with a difference, lets make sooooooo ugly !
17.
What'd be the point of that? People can just rip the CD.
I mean for bonus material I have tracks on my Bandcamp that aren't on albums.
18. If you're selling a CD, then maybe give a code for a free download ?
19. Charge something at least, let them pay more if they want to. i've had a hundred or so download my music, most paid, but when I counted there were 20 odd who hadn't. it got really annoying when people downloaded it for nothing. Why should we give music away for free ? It really annoys me this culture that's grown up about wanting music for nothing, we're partly to blame for giving it away for free in the first place. People will pay £3 for a cup of coffee or a supermarket sandwich, but object to buying music ?
20. No, they may be more stable, if the neck joins the body at the 12th fret. They sound the same to me anyway as any other bass. Some aren't true single cuts either, especially the bolt on neck ones. Some look very cool, especially the Fodera's, others look plain ugly, especially some of the newer makers who've jumped on the bandwagon.
That fingerboard is magnificent, I do love the woods they use for Zon fingerboards. Great ambience.

What a lovely looking bass... I was very tempted by this when it was up a couple of months back.
It's a fantastic bass, I was recording with it yesterday afternoon. It's just so easy to play. I need a fretless though, and as I explained, I couldn't in the end, go ahead with the de-fret of this, which was the whole point in buying it in the first place. I really love carbon fibre necks, the stability of them, and resonance and inherent sound is perfect for what I do.
22. I had one of these, a truly amazing bass.

24. I've been playing for over 20 years, I'm currently in the final year of a BMus music degree course. As part of my final year I'm also studying for a level 6 licentiate diploma (LRSL) in music teaching qualification through Rockschool. My lessons are based around the students personal needs and requirements. I can teach sight-reading, aural and transcribing skills, general music theory and harmony, and all styles and techniques. I specialise in 5 and 6 string playing.
