1. Up for grabs is my transparent crimson 1996 Fender Precision Special. A relatively rare (only made between '94 and '96 Mexican Precision with P/J pickups and a 9v active EQ, (stacked knobs with volume/blend and bass/treble.) Neck is somewhere between a P and J (measures at 41mm.) Apart from the new battery, I'm pretty sure it's all original. It's in great condition for a 20/21 year old bass with, from what I can see one small nick on the headstock and a small chip near the arm rest. I've tried to document the bass as best I can. The pickups sound great. They're incredibly loud and punchy and the active EQ gives you a great range of tones. It weighs 3.8kg and is really a breeze to play. Currently strung with Rotosound flats. Potential buyers are welcome to come round and give it a try, I will also deliver to the local Leicester area for free. I am also prepared to ship this bass but please do contact me regarding this so I can calculate shipping costs / dates. This usually costs around £25. I use Interparcel / UPS. Alternatively, I'm prepared to deliver at a rate of 40p/mile for petrol, (reasonable distances only.) Open to offers but no trades thanks. Thinning the herd again. 2. Fender Musicmaster Bass made in 1977/78 (serial number S7 21431.) Lovely aged yellow finish with plenty of knocks (what 40 year old doesn't have a few scars?) Has the original wiring (6 pole pickup) which sounds decent and balances well at 3.2kg. Has a very low action which, combined with the light weight and short scale, makes this a joy to play. Currently strung with some short-scale round wounds. It's currently not sporting it's original pickguard however that it included in the sale as is a basic padded gig bag. Some spacing around the neck pocket where it has settled but nothing out of the ordinary. Done my best to try and document what damage that bass has sustained. I got this on eBay. Here's what the previous owner had to say about the bass: "The bass was overhauled this year by nationally renowned Wirral luthier KGB. All electronics attended to together with the neck and frets and given a clean bill of health. They fitted the new scratch plate with the original set of screws. The 'line' showing on the back is just in the paint and does not affect the body of this lovely old Fender." Potential buyers are welcome to come round and give it a try, I will also deliver to the local Leicester area for free. Bump for an old Japanese workhorse.
5. For sale is my Greco EB-3 that I bought last year some time and never really played. It's a bit beat up but it's mechanically sound, I guess you call that mojo. Doesn't have any serial numbers on it so dating is difficult but a bit of digging on the net suggests that it's pre 1975. All solid mahogany with no cracks, weighs in at around 8lbs. Short Scale makes working the neck a joy. Strung with a set of relatively fresh Rotosounds. Shipping I approximate would be about £20 to mainland UK or, pickup from LE2 Leicester. Send me a pm for any further info or questions / offers. More pictures can be seen at the link below. 6. It's passive. No tone suck as far as I can tell. 250k pot.
7. Sorry to those of you that have expressed interest in this post and I haven't replied. Been ill for some time but I'm back in the game now. Majority of pedals are still available. Chris
8. Run a modified ce-2b into the effects loop on my sansamp deluxe. Sounds good to me.
9. Played there last week. Great venue!
10. I've got one of these, they're great. I looked into the wood on mine and I couldn't decipher whether it was alder or basswood. Mine is a two piece body also and has a grain somewhere between alder and basswood but it's rock hard, supposedly unlike basswood. ANYWAY, GLWTS
11.
Any more info about the Grillbox ? Bass-friendly ?
Not gonna lie, haven't tested it on bass. It's got good low end either way. I could do a demo for you later today if you wanted.
12.
Am I right in thinking the level knob on the RV-7 Hardwire reverb is actually a wet/dry blend on most settings?
Yeah you could say that. I think on the gated and modulated (?) modes. Chris
13.
been looking at those Boo instruments pedals, is there much loss of low end with the overdrive?
It's fine for guitar. I used to use it with a jazzmaster and it sounded good to me. Wouldn't use it on bass though, sounded terrible. Boo Screamer is currently on hold at the moment.
