1.
Lovely bass, my fretless is my favourite toy again at the moment, I think these are so under rated GLWTS
Cheers Rog, they are great basses and yet again I'm going to regret selling one!
2. I have found a black hard case to ship the bass in. I will now include this and postage in the sale. It's one of the older guitar shaped ones. I've amended the shipping details accordingly. Trades welcome - deally (but not essential) would like to trade for a short or medium scale bass - Rivoli, Precision, Jazz, Musicmaster, etc but try me with anything. I dont really want to add any cash to a deal but would take a bass of lesser value and cash. Well, I didn't think I'd ever sell or trade this but I've got a Thunder 2 as well and that does the same job. I also now prefer the 32 scale of the Thunder 2 and so this is not getting the play time it deserves. Great quality bass, lovely to play, slim Jazz like neck. It's active and passive but I've never used the active as I prefer the passive tone. It has a couple of dings that I've tried to show on the photographs. It may need some new strings depending on your preference. I'm not sure of the exact date but production started in 1983 and lasted a couple of years. Link to Westone catalogue - http://www.westonegu...basses/thunder/ It can be collected from Blackburn Lancs (preferred), could possibly meet up. Cost posted fully insured would be £21.90 or you could arrange your own courier. 3. Got the P version. Wish I could have this too, Olympic White. Who could resist....
4.
Well now I'm not so sure about the logo. Did Fender use the black decal at this time? I have a slight suspicion that the early 1983 logo was silver rather than black? Got me going now!
Black decal E series 83 P here - http://classicandcoo...siennaburst.htm Black decal, same tuners, 3 screw bridge and trussrod access at the head...
5. Bad eyes but it looks like only 3 bridge holes on this one too - http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=71882
6. The Guitar dater says the serial is USA 82/85 and Japanese 84/87? There's a bit about that here - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/175949-help-valuation-on-an-old-mij-p-bass/ so that sort of explains that but identical serials I'm not too sure about. The neckplate looks ok - http://support.fender.com/manuals/instruments/Standard_Precision_and_Jazz_Basses_%281983%29_manual.pdf The manual also shows truss rod adjustment at the head. I thought at first the shape of the head under the 'Precision" looked a bit weird but this looks very very similar - http://www.vintagecustomguitars.com/Vintage-1983-Fender-Precision-Bass-Loaded-American-Made-P-Bass-Neck--for-sale_1125.html It's only got 3 screw bridge and I'm not sure if those tuners were used then though?
7.
I don't understand what that is. My eyes can see it but my brain doesn't get it.
IT IS OBVIOUSLY AN ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY THAT ANY ORDINARY HUMAN BEING EQUIPPED WITH A NORMAL BRAIN CANNOT COMPREHEND AS YET AS WE HAVE NOT EVOLVED TO THE SAME LEVEL AND CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE COMPLEXITY OF THE ADVANCED LUTHIERY SKILLS OF THIS GENIUS.
8. There should be only one! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RESONATOR-BASS-GUITAR-UNIQUE-/321673132304?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4ae5367910
9. I'd rather get 2 cases of Bud for the same price. I can still just about open them with my teeth!
10.
PM replied. Yes, I'm open to trade ideas, cheers.
My soul?
11. Just traded cabs with Kev. Cab exactly as he described it and it sounds as good as it looks. He went out of his way to come here. Hope the journey back was OK Kev! Hail, rain and snow! A while back he also bought a Westone bass from me. That was a good transaction too. Nice genuine bloke. Deal with confidence. Cheers Kev Dunc
12. What a great Telecaster! Wish I had some money...
13.
Following on from the recent classic albums thread, I have revisited some of my colleagues suggestions and thoroughly enjoyed relistening to stuff I had not heard for many years. Anyway, I listened to the above track and thought that this (for me) was THE definitive bass tone. Anyone of you knowledgeable folks know what JJ used, I assume a Precision but what else? into the desk and studio trickery? Ampeg? I would like to get as close as possible, obviously I realise I'm not JJ but if part of the tone is the kit than that's a good starting point. Cheers Paul.
Funnily enough, I got an LM III and a Bergantino HD112 the other day. Set it up, plugged in my JV maple neck Precision and hey presto - instant JJ sound! Everything was set flat too... Well, thats not a bad thing! I seem to remember something about him using Marshall and then later Trace..
14. 2x10 traded so price adjustment...
15. It looks like its got leprosy? What (if anything) is going through his mind!
16.
Is that a..... But.......

Shocking...
If per chance these quotes refer to my ... ? How dare you. I would rather cut them off with a rusty chisel... Oh Carlsberg. Wait until I get paranoid...
17. Sum peeple canned speek or spel propterly. Init.
18. I have seen many things on Ebay that look like they have been dredged from the canal. It could be a clever disclaimer!
19.
Or maybe adjust the concavity for the optimum playing style.
Concavity? Optimum? Big words. Doesn't compute whilst drinking Carlsberg Export. May bid on this bass... Dont worry, I'm not that drunk... Yet!
20. Please ignore the £700, price is a giveaway £400 for the pair. Eden D-115T cab (200w) 8ohm, plus custom built flight case. Eden WT-300 head includes rack ears and Warwick Rockbag (spare Ruby tube included). Classic Eden bass rig made in the USA. Everything is bullet proof and in good condition for a rig of its age. It has been gigged and so has some cosmetic faults but nothing major. It's very loud for 300w. Far, far louder than I expected. Even with the one cab running at 8ohm its loud. Sounds big, fat, warm and smooth. Absolutely lovely loud sound. The head has the Eden electrical "hum" that appears to be normal for models of this era. My old Eden Metro combo was the same, I had that looked at by a respected technician (Dave Pye) but he said it was normal. Its not bad but I thought I'd mention it. Cab has a specially built flight case (internally cushioned). The head comes with rack ears and a Warwick Rockbag which also is fully functional. May trade. You are welcome to come and try it out (which I would much prefer) with no obligation. Shipping at buyers cost but may be able to meet up depending on distance.
21. Just traded an Orange combo with Julian. Easy transaction and the the equipment was exactly as he described. Couldn't have been easier. Cheers Dunc
22.
Was the other one not a Squier body? I'm waiting for the Kay bass bodies with strat necks on them! Will he be "improving" a series of these as a hobby/business like a certain other eBayer who we shall not mention?
I'm sure the last time it was up it said a Squier body. I really hope he hasn't found a barn full of old Kay necks!
