  1. I've looked into the various ACS plugs & I'm going to invest come payday.

My right lug'ole is slightly larger than the left which creates a slight comfort issue with the cheaper offerings.

The Flares work well for me but the right one is looser. The Happy Ears I really have to faff about with to get them to sit nicely.

The BTB02 has always been my favourite preamp from John East.

It does what it's supposed to do perfectly.

    Say no more!

I think I'm sold on it to be honest.

    I did consider the uni-pre but it's a far more complex beast & it's simplicity I'm after.

Hopefully the BTB will be back in stock soon!

    Cheers

(P.s, I got there with the dual truss rods in the end!)

  3. I've just emailed John to enquire when the BTB02 will be back in stock cuz I'd like to try one out in my Tobias.

The Bartolini active contour thing it has is pants.

I'd be missing a trick if I didn't ask here about experiences/opinions of the BTB02.

On paper it looks perfect & I know the reputation Mr East has for creating quality preamps.

    Any thoughts?

  4. Paul has taken my beloved Stingray & I'm pleased it's gone to such a great fella.

There's enough feedback here to convince anyone thinking about any kind of transaction with Paul to proceed with absolute confidence!

Enjoy the Ray Paul, it's a beautiful bass guitar!

  5. Thanks for the reply!

I have adjusted both equally but I'm thinking I might take quarter of a turn out of the bass side then gently add quarter to the treble side until it catches up.

I'm pretty sure the neck isn't twisted tho, the relief was fairly even albeit very high until I started to adjust it & the difference is minimal.

Very odd how one side responded immediately & the other side took hours.

    Everyday's a school day!

  6. I have bought my first bass with dual rods & I'm tinkering to get it set up to my liking.

Now, when I make adjustments to the E+A side the neck responds immediately & it's pretty much flat with no buzz, nice!

However, adjustments to the D+G side are very slow to take affect & at the minute it's got a bit of relief & also a bit of buzzing, pants!

I think there's a couple of high frets & they'll be sorted soon.

So this may need a daft question but, is there a sequence for adjusting dual truss rods?

Any guidance would be gratefully received 😁

Intrigued I just had a look at Git Chat..

Seriously?.. You couldn't even dignify it by saying it had an element of Poncery...

    Very pooer.. Very pooer indeed

I think it's great thing @ped is doing giving them their own little corner of the internet to posture & peacock about.

    Equal opportunities & that 😁

*Note, I actually like some guitarists & even need them from time to time so please don't berate me for my lame banter 😁

  8. Dave has just taken home my Skyline following a basschat standard transaction aka "motorway meetup" 😂

Great bloke, deal went down exactly as you'd expect it to.

    Sell/buy/trade with complete confidence!

(I do hope that body turns up Dave)

(That sounded terrible didn't it? It wasn't that kind of meeting honest 😂)

  9. Well it's here, & thankfully Andertons put new strings on. It had horrid looking green things on.

Haven't plugged it in yet but first impressions are good.

Nice & light, all the harmonics are there & the neck is lovely so hopefully it'll meet my expectations.

Really good condition for the age, couple of marks on the body around the jack but that's not an issue at all. I've brought it (& sold/selling most of my others) to play it pretty exclusively so it'll no doubt end up with a few more battle scars.

I need to take some relief out of the neck & adjust the string height to my liking & when we've had some proper bonding time I'll do the nbd thing.

Oh my goodness, I didn’t think I’d see the day @Horizontalste.  My very first Stingray!!!  This bass has a lot to answer for 😂😂😂

    Doesn't it just!

I never thought I'd let it go either, my Mrs & the kids are giving me earache over this one. My eldest has offered full asking price just to keep it in the family, he doesn't play! 🤣

  11. Never thought I'd let this go but things change!

    Musicman Stingray 4H from 2009 I believe.

I've owned it for the last twelve years or so.

Immaculate condition & standard apart from the high gloss vintage tint lacquered neck that was beautifully done by Mr Shuker, it had a refret at the same time.

Currently strung with new Cobalt Flats & comes with original case & 3ply pickgurd plus the matte black single ply pickgurd, a white single ply pickgurd & white pickup cover. All original Musicman items & not reproduction.

I'll get an accurate weight & high res photos when I get five but any questions feel free to ask. Just weighed the Stingray on the bathroom scales with the me+me & the bass - me scientific method & it's came in at 4.4kg.

Based in the West Midlands & local pickup or meetup only for this one I'm afraid.

  12. Well used BB350 that started life as a fretless but had frets added at some point.

It's well worn with lots of dinks & scratches but would make a good beater or project.

Based in the Midlands & local pickup or meetup preferred, I'm not really sure it'd be worth posting this one.

Feel free to ask any questions.
