1. Looks like the Sandberg has now been sold. It was only up for a few hours so I want to thank all who gave me advice both on this thread and by PM. Im off to the solicitors this morning to check on my redundancy rights. I will be lurking around the bass chat site but not buying and selling very much. Now that I have time on my hands and no money I can play the bass all day.....
  2. ON HOLD............................sold pending payment tomorrow.
  3. I have for sale two scratch plates for a Fender USA standard Jazz 5. The white is a fender original with the protective plastic still in tacked.
I feel for you bro..ive also just been made redundant.... i like to think of it as a new start though...positive thinking... good luck with your new start!!!!! all the best...
Im ringing around all my contacts as we speak.............There is a job out there I just have to find it.
  5.
Big +1, sad news. I have PM'd you.
Pm answered.
  6.
Thats terrible news. Very sorry to hear this. The price on your Sandberg seems exceptionally generous. Good luck
Times are hard and I need to sell this to pay the bills. I would rather a fellow Basschatter get a bargain.
  7. Bad news today as its now my turn to join the great unemployed....... due to being made redundant after 15 years service. So its with a heavy heart I will have to put up my gear for sale. First will have to be ONE of the two Sandbergs. I bought this JM5 from Guitar Works in Reading only a few months ago. I paid £1100. If it was ordered today the cost would be around £1600. I will sell it to a fellow bass chatter for £700, if it does not sell for this amount I will put it up for a commission sale at the store for £800. The bass comes with a Sandberg gig bag and tools. I also have an Ashdown compact 115 cab that was bought at the same time. It is new and unused as I bought it as a spare. I will sell this for £150. I also have a Ashdown Spyder 550 that was bought at the same time, £400 boxed with uprated valves. Thanks guys. If its picked up I will throw in the strap locks, leather strap and stand........WOW what a bargain...
  8. pictures please.......
  9. Ive just started having lessons after playing for over 10 years. It has been a real eye opener as to how much I do not know. I wish I had done this years ago, going back to the basics has given me drive and conquered my fear, yes fear of having to look hard at what I was playing. I feel like a school kid learning for my exams..................its very hard work but worth the effort and time.
  10. This is great....................well done.
  11. The guys at Guitar Works in Reading made a quick vid of my LB. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vg04AoqeX-4 As you can hear it overdrives really easy with the original JJ ECC83 valves. Hope this helps.
  12. My Little bastard distorted with both passive and active basses so I put in two lower gain ECC81 valves. This makes it very had to overdrive the preamp stage. It keeps it clean and warm............ If you cant get the preamp to overdrive then there might be some problem with. The preamp section should overdrive with most basses plugged into the high gain socket at all volumes. Remember the LB has no preamp volume control.....the gain knob ONLY drives the power valves.
  13.
Try some Goove Tubes - very fat and round sounding. Or JJ ECC83S - clean and well ballanced. And don't bother with Sovtek 12AX7WA, I had them on my 3pro and they were no good.
The JJ is a very good preamp valve, best of the three.
  14.
I'm stuck between the ECC81 and ECC83-S. What would be the main difference in these tubes?
I have used both ECC83 and ECC81 as a preamp tube and find the lower gain ECC81 to be a good choice to tame down a high gain preamp stage that over drives or distorts. I prefer a clean sound so this would be my personal choice. BUT if you prefer the higher gain and crunch I would stick to the ECC83. Get both and try them out, this what I did. I also tried a ECC82 which has only 20% of the gain. This produced the cleanest sound of all but might reduce the volume to much. I have not tried it in an Eden. Might be worth a go as well.
  15.
Seriously try and get a go on a floorQ, its the same comp as in a twinQ, and I've done a lot of recording with one of them, it can squish really hard, pumps nicely if you push it....
Thanks for the info, I will hunt one out.
  16.
I have an Orange Sqeezer clone, it's a bit of an aquired taste (nice on fretless) but saying that I have been told it's a poor copy of the real thing so may not represent the true OS sound.
In what way an acquired taste??
  17. Hi, The 12ax7 is the same as a ECC83,both these valves have a gain of 100. If you want to lower the gain to give a cleaner signal with more head room try a ECC81 or 12at7 as a replacement. Shameless plug for valves for sale...... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=98555 Sorry....
  18. Hi Guys, I need your collective wisdom on a simple question.... I need a compressor that will give me 'old skool compression', something with a real squashy sound. It must sound rough with a little distortion...............must not be clean and modern sounding. Can you help..... Thanks.
  19. These are GREAT prices.................................does anyone have the cash????
  20. Welcome Caylan, Thanks for the payment for the DOD I will deliver it as promised tomorrow early evening. Welcome again to the very best bass forum.
  21.
Hi Guys... Another clear out item... DOD FX25b funky envelope filter. No loss of low end sound due to the BLEND control knob. Great condition with no Velcro on the bottom. £27 posted.... Thanks.
22. Price drop to £27.
  23.
so what kind of sound do you get past 4??????? is it too saturated with the valves?
I've put ECC81 valves in mine that lower the input gain about 60%. This gives just enough reduction to run the power amp a little cleaner.
  24.
Nothing at all in trades.. Just cash and not a lot of that to be honest Craig
Hit me with an offer via a PM. Thanks.
  25.
I so want this.... but just bought an overdrive pedal so cashflow issues You up for bartering???? Craig
HI Craig, What do you have to offer??? Thanks. Marc
