Cheers for posting Editors stuff. I lost track of them after their first album. They're pretty good, though when they came out I thought as I've got albums by The Chameleons, Echo ATB and Joy Division they were sort of superfluous. Might've been a bit unfair of me
Great band, I really like the early stuff. I've seen them live a couple of times and thought they were very good.

The Retroglide is very similar in concept/layout to the old TE heads - essentially a pre with quite extensive graphic eq mated to a power stage. Given that it's designed by the same person - Mark Gooday - who made the old TE heads, it has to be worth consideration.
I had one, I didn't sound like a Trace Elliot and wasn't as loud as the numbers suggest but was perfect to use with a quality pre amp and was well built.

The nearest that I have tried was a GK Fusion 550. The big one not the Class D.
It reminded me of a Trace Elliot as soon as I started playing through it, I should really buy one instead of trying every other amp on the planet. Lol.

I saw Bauhaus many, many times back when they were in their pomp, some of the early gigs were so exciting, proper possessed madness, extraordinary.
I would have loved to see Bauhaus live back then. One of my favourite bands.

Amp head and new cabs?...
-
-
Just spotted it on Facebook. Very interested in seeing and hearing more info this amp.

I tried my 1225v through my Four10, it was ok but certainly lost something from the original sound. It wouldn't be a set up I would use.

Are they any good for metal?... yes, that's all they are good for after watching those videos.
It's an interesting looking amp head, I look forward to watching a proper demo video.

Does anyone have any experience with the Orange Little Bass Thing? Looks as if it would tick most of my boxes, but would need to try one first.
If it's any thing like the Orange 4-Stroke, it'll be very loud and very good.

What about the TC BH800 on offer at Andertons £249. It looks like a bit of a bargain.

I appear to be of the odd opinion that I really like the Peavey era stuff from about 2002. The older stuff is great as well.
This new stuff is awful. Unless you play a jazz gig you'd need an 8x10 to play anything bigger as the Elf is so anaemic. You can put it in your pocket? Whooptee do. You'll be red lining it the whole way as it's got so little power.
Also, whomever priced the new cabs is on crack. They're ludicrously expensive for what they are.
Get the preamp of the older models bang a 1000W class D behind it. Job done. Instead, we get this ludicrous set of products that look like someone forgot to add water to get them to the correct size.
I agree 100% with you, I owned one of the early Peavey era Trace heads and it sounded excellent.
I've never seen anyone gig an Elf, but I have seen plenty of old Trace Elliots.
...and fingers crossed for Mesa, I hope they survive.

Peavey are doing great things with the Trace brand IMO, they revived a long dead relic that only a small minority of players have a fondness for and made it into a range of amplification that stands out in a crowded market. Trace were very much a product of their time and a range of amps based on what they used to offer players would absolutely tank today.
I played and gigged TE back in the 90s btw and still played through a Trace preamp in our rehearsal room before covid hit, there's no desire to go back to it from me. Would consider an Elf if I needed a little rig though.
What range of amplification would that be and what great things are they doing with the brand? I thought they only make a 200w class D amp that doesn't have the Trace Elliot sound. It's an ok amp but just a toy compared to the original Trace gear.

Seriously, apart from the looks, that's a pretty normal sounding bass.
Maybe it does sound normal... maybe it's the amp making it sound normal?
Anyhow... I'm still interested in the Mesa

I wish people would use a normal bass when demoing gear. I'm very interested in this amp, watching someone using a bit of drift wood with several midget gems stuck it does the demo and me no favours.

If you want a bit more info, check out the latest Instagram Q&A. Jack and Hooky go through a lot of detail about this bass. The link starts off a bit ropey as they had a few internet issues but definitely worth a watch if you are interested in Peter Hook and this bass...

Yeah, the current price list states they’re making it with a 38mm nut width. This has 42mm
Gotcha, every day is a school day.
I used to own a T Bass, I always remember the neck being huge, so I've always associated Status with wide fingerboards.
