That was about 10 years ago Si.
Frankly, I think the company is doomed. Larry can post as many photos on Facebook of "Look over here! It's Jaco's aluminium coned 8x10!" or "Here's Jack Bruce's Warwick Thumb!" but it doesn't disguise the fact that both of those thoroughly excellent bass player's are dead and if you exclude Victor Wooten as an endorser they don't have any high profile ones. I'm sure if he were offered a skip of cash he'd play anything. Probably why Stu Hamm left to go to Markbass. They haven't had a well known modern age bass player on their books of endorsements for a very, very long time. I think that in itself speaks volumes about the company's standing.
I'm bummed though. The HA5500 is just brilliant, but by modern standards it's just too heavy.
Most of the stuff I use are companies that don't pay you to use their stuff so if I ever was better known for anything other than sideburns, claws and sarcasm it would all be for nothing.
I thought Billy Sheehan uses the LH1000 and HA5500.

I've looked in the gallery, but I cannot find any basses at all that have colored ball ends. Are you able to point out an example? Or are you just referring to the tapering on the low-B?
Sorry, I should have said 4 normal strings and a tapered B. Like you have on your bass, it looks to be standard practice for Warwick.

Have you looked in the Warwick Custom Shop gallery? All the fives are fitted with the same strings you have received.

Not sure pics will help (plus I've just seen that bass is 10lb - if they're all like that it's a dealbreaker for me). I thought the 1024x neck was too chunky - I like verrrry slim necks (which is why 5s will never be for me), but the 414 I can cope with...
Thanks, for the suggestions, tho...I might have a look for a BB3000A, which would do the job, tho it'd be a bit of a stinger, seeing as I sold mine 10 years ago for a lot less money than they're changing hands for these days...
My BB3000 didn't have a skinny neck, it was certainly wider than my BB734a. However, It was very shallow back to front.

The BB colour selection has, IMO, been very small and rather uninspired in recent times.
If I had just one wish, it would be to bring back the metallic orange from the BB414.
Beyond this, it would be great to see pastel shades like cream, surf green, pink etc. Colour matched headstocks would be the icing on the cake.
Oh and some tort' pickguards would also be splendid.
A lot of the posts Yamaha put up for Yamaha artists using the new BB basses show customer shop colours. Red, white, green etc. maybe they should take note.

I was very tempted to upgrade my M6 for an M9 in the Jan sales, given the more detailed EQ etc. but managed to hesitate sufficiently for all the units to fly off the shelves. Not surprising given the ridiculously good prices they were selling for. I'll maybe keep an eye out for one at the same time next year!
I wouldn't bother mate. The M6 is just as powerful, I bought the M9 because it was only a couple of £££ more than the M6 and had a good compressor built in. They sound the same.

How are you liking the M9?
It's very good. Sounds great and is very detailed in its reproduction of each instrument without having to fiddle with any of the knobs or graphic. Compressor is really good and doesn't colour the sound..... and it's very loud.
Unfortunately, it hasn't left my house as I still need a case for it.
At the moment...Highly recommended.
Awaiting full band noise test.

Following my recent M9 purchase, I'd really like to try the WD 800 to see how it compares. The price is what it is, Mesa bass gear is few and far between over here, the last time I can remember seeing one is at the Mayfair in Newcastle around the late 80s. I'm guessing the volume of bass product they produce isn't as large as people think, it's a limited market.

I use an Ashdown Tour Bus 10. It has Mp3 in, headphones in and sounds good.
It also does the job as a practice combo without the headphones but does sound cheap, which it is.
Certainly worth a look.

Good. I wouldn't be surprised if a few other manufacturers get pulled as well.

That's because I am even older than that bass and a fan of the org. BB - no Attitude comes close to Billy's pink BB 😉 And I know not many will share this opinion !
I loved that bass. It was a bit of test rig for the Attitude bass that followed and one of the reasons I now own a pink bass.

But for some reason it screams "make me into a P/P" instead of a P/J...
For some reason that made me think of a BC Rich.

Custom head sleeve manufacturers?
in Repairs and Technical

Hi, can any Basschaters recommend a company to build a custom head case for my Mesa M9 rack head? Something along the line of this...
Cheers
