  1. I've only seen one other in the UK, and that was in the early 90s...

Yamaha Motion Bass in white. The colour has turned to a more old english off white and the body has a few dings and mark on the back towards the bottom, near the strap button.

A passive bass with a great tone...

    £150 ono

Will be posted in a cardboard box, the bass will be covered in bubble wrap.

I'm in the North East, collection is an option.

    Cheers

when I first started playing I had a thing for a t bass on a local shop, never had the balls to try it. What are they like?

I went from a 4 string Ibanez SR800 to a 5 string T Bass, it was a bit of a culture shock. The bass was very well made and felt rock solid, the neck was wide but shallow in section and the radius tapered from B to G. It also looked fantastic, sonic blue with a white scratch plate but it sounded mechanical... Clank, Clank, Clank, not a harsh sound but lifeless.

I tried to get on with it but gave up after a year. Basically, it was too cumbersome for me and I thought it sounded sh*t.

I sold it on ebay around 10 years ago and bought a Thumb 4 string which I still use.

one of these. Amazing bit of kit! Sounds great (to my ears anyway) through earphones. Plus you're buying a very usable bit of gear. Its pretty big though so perhaps its not a perfect solution, but such a good deal just now!

Wow, that looks impressive. I'll do a bit of research on it, thanks.

Thank for all the quick replies.

  4. Hi,

I'm getting back into the groove after a number of years in the wilderness. So I've dug out my old gear, Warwick Thumb NT 4, Trace Elliot 1225v and a Zoom 506 box.

The bass has been away for a service and is sounding great, and the combo still knocks out a fantastic rumble. But together they are way to loud for home use. I invested in a pair of good head phones and wired up the Zoom 506 for a good rattle... it sounds crap. Cheap with a big dose of hiss.

I'm looking for a box (?) to plug the bass and headphones in that will give me a warm, natural sound without having to use the Trace Elliot. I haven't a clue what is available so any help would be appreciated.

The last boxes I can remember getting reviewed were Bass Pod and a Sansamp. At the time they both received good write ups and I always thought the Sansamp looked cool...

I could go to £150-£200 so anything below that would be great, second hand gear would not be an issue.

    Cheers

  5. Wow, this thread takes me back to the mid 80s.

Windows Arcade, Newcastle upon Tyne had a music department in the cellar of the shop. I remember when they first had this style bass guitar in. I'm sure they originally sold the Tune Bass Maniac then started selling Bass Collection. I think the first Bass Collection necks had Phenolic Resin finger boards.

A great bass, light as a feather with a fast neck.

It's Les Claypool's (well...it was). That's what makes it cool (but not as cool as his Carl Thompsons).

I think that most Singlecut basses look really cool, but think that pointy basses, like a lot of BC Rich and ESP's,look
    terrible.
I think that Stuart Zender's old airbrushed Warwick Streamer looked awesome, but TM Stevens looks awful.
I like the look of a lot of Ibanez basses, but they ruin loads of them (mostly the signature models) by putting on
stupid graphics and/or inlays (The K5 is ruined by that daft inlay, otherwise it's really nice).
As far as Fenders go,generally I like them but the finish makes a huge difference with regards to their coolness.

Thank you. Is it a CT? it looks fantastic.
