1. Looks like a useful bit of kit, put together by a very experienced team. The RRP doesn't seem too unreasonable, but, like everyone else on this thread I haven't tried one... yet. Well done and good luck. I'm looking forward to reading and hearing genuine reviews.

I find I have to sleep on it.

If I'm finding a cover, or certain part of a cover hard to digest, I will play the hell out of it, then the next day after a good nights sleep pickup my bass and it comes to me. Sometimes a few sleeps are needed but anything can be done with enough day to day practice.

Works for me. Sleep on it, let your body take it all in. Next day, it's coming out of your fingers like some kinda voodoo.

I'm not saying it's perfect, but it's a lot easier than the day before.

  3. Fantastic band. I went to see them play at the old Mayfair Club in Newcastle many years ago, Doug hadn't been with them that long but they were great, and still are.

    'Nothingness' was brilliant live.

I like the darker sound of the band after Doug joined. I'm sure he did a Trace Elliot tour around the same sort of time, we watched him torture his trace rig at posh Hotel in the Toon, I think he was on Warwicks at the time.

I'm trying to remember when it was. I'm thinking maybe '88 - '89. Any idea ?

Could be 88, I was in London with art college, a couple of us took a detour to visit Forbidden Planet then called in to see the guys at 2000ad, I'm sure the comic shop was near Denmark St...
being a spotty glam rock student I couldn't resist the lure of a brilliant pink Warwick.

Only one I've played was for sale many moons ago in of the smaller shops in Denmark Street, London. A kind of pink colour. Previous owner was some bloke called Cass Lewis.

Small world, I had a rattle on that bass too.

I didn't buy it but did eventually end with a Thumb NT4 which I still own. Sounds great, looks great, plays great...

Every one should try a Thumb.

  6. Jim Fleeting - Ripon

I've just had my Thumb Bass in to get the frets levelled and the ' just a crap nut 2' replaced.

The frets were in a mess from 10 years worth of heavy handed abuse but Jim worked his magic and brought them back to life, the horrid plastic nut was replaced with nice piece of bone that had been dyed black to fit in with the look of the bass. A lovely job.

Once home and plugged in it became apparent that Jim had transformed this instrument into what it should have been all along... a high quality, professional instrument. It plays like butter... Thank You.

Truly bizzare, as someone comments on Mark's facebook post, that is going to look a complete mess if used by a regular gigger!

It looks a mess when new. It's bloody awful.
