Same EQ but using the various switches I find the EQ controls ok

I prefer to run my master on full and gain control for overall volume

Yep, I did the same with the switches and master volume.

Thought I would start a post in praise of the Ashdown CTM range of tube amps

Interested in favourite settings and if you gig it and which cabs etc ?

Here’s mine and it’s the best sounding amp I’ve ever played and impressive how loud 100w can go in a band situation 426884F9-B294-45A5-A522-CFDEB4B3BBC8.thumb.jpeg.f4fd523c757015ec8473795b14665c19.jpeg

Cool, that's the new version. Is it still passive eq?

I had the original CTM 100. The eq was useless but luckily it didn't need it as it sounded brilliant. Definitely loud enough to gig in a rock band using an ABM15 or a Barefaced Four10.

EMG JJ set or try to get 2 EMG GZR J pickups from EMG

EMG JJ! I was watching an alt rock band a couple of weeks back and the bass player had recently dropped a set of these in his jazz... it sounded great, I did say to him at the time that the sound reminded me of my old Spector, also loaded with EMG pickups... and as everyone knows, Spector are the sound of rock 😄

That'll be the M117R, good enough for Steve Severin*, so more than good enough for me.

*and plenty of other people like John McGeoch, EVH etc.

That is exactly why I bought it. Banshees are one of my favourite bands.

I'm surprised at that from Boss, they sound like they'd be super reliable judging by their popularity. But hey, I like EHX and not everyone gets on with them and that's fine.

Boss pedals are reliable. They are very tough pedals and work well. The flanger wasn't for me but I still use other Boss pedals on my board... some times I'll also throw in my original Clone Theory.

Try Solovair - Like buying a pair of 70's DM's. I think they bought the original  plant or something

I believe it is one of the original factories. I've had my Solovair 12 years and they are still bullet proof.  Top quality and money well spent.

I had a 4 string Fender Deluxe Active Jazz (US version) which I could coax pretty much anything from, not sure if they do a fiver but if so that’s where I’d start my search. I’d say similar with an HH Stingray.

Edit - an outsider might be a Yamaha 735.

And that £750 for an amp - Ashdown ABM600.

    Great call on both counts!

I've owned both and both will do all that shiz.

  8. For sale...

Fender USA Jazz Bass Deluxe. Black n Maple. Upgraded with Dimarzio Jazz Pickups and Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp. This improves the sound massively. Comes with original Fender hard case and gold scratch plate. This Bass is used and has the dings etc you would expect to see on a well used guitar.

By far the the easiest bass to play I have ever owned.

Trade for USA Musicman Sterling 4HH in the black n maple, would also consider

  9. Received my 800 on Saturday and gigged it on Sunday without any previous rehearsal.  Had an hour or so to faff about with it at home then 15 minutes to sound check with the band. Dimed the trim then backed off as required as it says in the video. Ended up looking like this....

Still needs a little bit of fine tuning but still sounded great and handled the effects with ease.

It's not what I'd call a plug and play, it's very bright when everything is flat so needs a bit of work to find your sound

Once I'd stuffed my distortion through it it sounded huge.

Just need to find a case for it now.
