    Hey guys, [i]Reluctantly[/i], I'm having to put this up for sale to recover funds from my new purchase :) but this is a gorgeous bass and if you're looking for something [b]Jazz-like with a lot of versatility[/b] then this is it. Really smooth vintage tones can be swapped for punchy modern slap at the twiddle of a knob. So, it's a [b]Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn Series 4[/b] string bass. It's in a lovely "translucent" sunburst (rosewood fretboard) as can be seen in the pictures and is in excellent condition. I have used this bass with care and it has [b][u]no[/u] battle-scars[/b]. It's always been kept in a [b]hard case which I'll include[/b] (pictured). First dibs go to anyone on Basschat but I'm afraid I'll have to eBay it if I get no takers. Just purchased something from someone on this site and it'd be nice to give something back to the community ;) I'm looking for £700 but might consider offers... Drop me a PM if you're interested.     Realise that this was AAAGES ago but is this thread still relevant? I like the look of this... Is there any chance of this changing from a feeler to a for sale? Got a Lakland JO4 if you're interested in trade / part-trade.     Just out of interest, what have the old bridge-cover holes been filled with? Are they screws, or some kind of stud? Looks really really nice by the way! Where are you based? If geoffbassist has played it and he is in Leeds then I'm guessing somewhere up north?

    The Warmth by Incubus. They are so tight as a rhythm section and it's a joy to listen to that kick and bassline lock in.

The circle of fifths eliminates the need for double-sharps but they certainly exist in music theory. Maybe it does confuse the matter but hey, I'll stick to my guns and may be shot down.

    It's just a matter of convention. If you were playing a Bb scale then you would call the root Bb but an A# scale you would call it A#... but these would still be sonically the same scale. Maybe a better example is if asked to play the scale of D (D E F# G A B C# D) and then asked to play a D# scale... you would want to be doing stuff relative to the note that is actually named... hence the scale of D# (D# E# F## G# A# B# C## D#). It's actually quite good to think of things like this <in my opinion> as it keeps your mind working and keeps your theory on the ball and I think makes you more versatile... that is if you ever come across a song written in such a key Hope this helps > Si

    I play Lakland Joe Osborn Signature 4 String. It's lush. But at the moment I'm playing a Warwick Thumb 6... My guitarist hates that I have just as many strings as him.

    How's this one going? Have you gone back to V&R yet? I think this is truly gorgeous and am also a massive fan of the vintage jazzes. Will definitely be looking to buy one when I have a bit more cash. To be honest I would prefer it a bit more "vintage looking" not in a sacrilegious way but I like the character-building battle scars on vintage basses BUMP
