A Small Modest Collection For Your Perusal
Mike Brooks replied to Mike Brooks's topic in Gear Gallery
You must be kidding, I like to keep the headstocks and bodies away from concrete and brickwork. Can't use our fences due to the triffids....sorry trees and bushes. -

Unlike some (with extraordinarily large fences!), I didn't have enough stands to line them up! Mike -
A Small Modest Collection For Your Perusal

Cheers guys, Funnily enough, Bernie wasn't keen on the 'Kingfisher Blue' with gold hardware combination when I told him what I wanted, really wasn't enamoured with the idea. It was my bass so I wanted it how I explained. I think he conceded defeat once it was built!! Mike -
A Small Modest Collection For Your Perusal

Yup, it's an East Marcus Retro, had it put in about 3 and a half years ago and its great, works great for recording where you need to add mids or take some out and the extra treble boost works wonders, takes it away from being just a Jazz bass. I can recommend checking one out, not to everyones taste but I like it. Mike -
Thought it was about time I took new pics of the collection, had to do some for various magazine work and some new ones for insurance purposes so after some requests, here is the current collection. For anyone remotely interested, the Aria SB-R80 is available for sale should anyone care to make an offer. Enjoy! The Bernard Edwards Appreciation Thread
Mike Brooks replied to Bass_In_Yer_Face's topic in General Discussion
Plenty of Bernard's playing on the second Power Station album "Living In Fear" and the Rod Stewart albums "Out Of Order" and " Vagabond Heart". Not to mention the bass part on Robert Palmer's "Addicted To Love" Mike -
Dealt with! Mike

Send me a PM and I'll send you a link for Axesrus regarding gold control knobs at £2.70 each. I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and they work a treat. Excellent company to deal with too, very quick response to emails and quick shipping too. Mike

I may have seen this 3 weeks ago, prior to spraying, looked good then.....even better now!!! Congrats! Mike
Better late than never Mike..... though I knew that night when you played a few of mine that it wouldn't be long...
That's because I'd been a fan of the sound and look since that Hall & Oates gig in 1990. I just needed to try out the different variations and models to make my mind up, and frankly your collection beats any shop! Now if a black, white, red, cherry sunburst or natural gloss finished US NS2 appears and I have the cash to dispose of, heaven help me, although this Euro 4 is seriously doing the business....my proverbial egg has been boiled!
I think you're supposed to get the bit of the Schaller locks that attach to the strap too. I got them. But that was after trying to convince the guy to throw in some free stuff. He did say that they didn't keep them on the basses because people steal them. However, I don't think you get them on Rebops. I noticed that Cetera's Rebop 4 (when I was repacking it) that it just has ordinary strap buttons. I want a LX4 or Rebop, but 2 Spectors within 2 weeks is a little excessive for me
No it isn't, get yourself one because these offers won't be around much longer. Can't begin to say how happy I am with my purchase, having waited 18 years to resolve my Spector craving....should have dealt with it long ago. Silly boy! Mike
nah not in a band at the mo and dont think i will be this year either, my uni course is going to be VERY demanding this year, and i wont have time for much else really. its probably because of my natural dislike of passive basses that makes me not like the olp's sound tbh. but i still cant get enough of the status blue'ray (im trying out different names, its a bit long winded saying the whole title!), id love to have a jam and see how well it performs there, every note is crystal clear, i can imagine it slices through the mix like a hot knife through butter
That's exactly how it performs, I used mine doing some shows with Bonnie Tyler a couple of years ago (couple of arenas and large halls) and it just did the business, no woolly notes, even from the low B. Went thru a Mesa Boogie 400+ and an Ampeg 8x10....sure was trouser flappingly lovely! Mike

Just out of interest, were those of us that bought the Euro LX4's supposed to receive the outer straplocks with our basses? Obviously the strap buttons are fitted but there's no sign of the outer part, I wasn't sure if those are meant to be supplied. Mike

Straight off the bat, some old pics, will do some better ones over the weekend if anyone's interested........ Still own the 2000, Empathy, Stingray (now with a pearloid plate), the racing green TBass (now with a white/black pearloid plate), the other two have long since moved on.

Very, very nice indeed. I'm waiting on a midnight blue LX4 to come hurtling down the drive in the morning, hopefully before I leave for my weekend of gigs. Otherwise, I don't think my patience will hold out until Sunday morning. Enjoy!! Mike
