1. Straight off the bat, some old pics, will do some better ones over the weekend if anyone's interested........ Still own the 2000, Empathy, Stingray (now with a pearloid plate), the racing green TBass (now with a white/black pearloid plate), the other two have long since moved on.
2. Set went great, shame it was pouring with rain but looked good with the lights. Have a bump on me.
3. We are the bass equivalent of MoneySavingExpert.com.....a good offer appears and we all snap it up! Mike
4. Very, very nice indeed. I'm waiting on a midnight blue LX4 to come hurtling down the drive in the morning, hopefully before I leave for my weekend of gigs. Otherwise, I don't think my patience will hold out until Sunday morning. Enjoy!! Mike
5. Do I know you......?
6.
Suggestions are welcomed for where I can source some gold knobs to replace the black volume/tone ones on this Euro 6. Presumably they simply pull off, as I can't see a screw. PS They still have two Euro 4's left at £400 each ...one black cherry and one natural maple
£400...is that right...or did you mean £499? At £400 its almost worth buying another...........
7. Blimey, they should give them away. Well done on an excellent catch!
8. Well, I would have joined 18 years ago had I been able to get a US NS2 at the time.
9. I'm glad I didn't buy the NS4 in Brum a month ago. It didn't compare that well with 2 other basses I had with me and at £1,000 it would have been overpriced to my ears but to ask close to £2,500.........just count myself lucky I've been able to score one of these LX's which sounded better than the NS4 I tried. Never fails to surprise me how every bass is different, even in the same product line/range. Mike
10. Same here, bought mine from Bristol and I'm just outside London, would cost me a tenner just to get to Swindon.........!
11. Well that's me sold hook line and sinker, one Blue Euro LX4 winging its way to Brooks Mansions!!
12. I'm aware of these deals Gary, strange how the NS4 at Brum was £2700, I went there when they were doing the final SC deals when it was £1200, no, won't sell it to you for less than £2k, okay, call me if the price goes down, now its £1k and I haven't had a call, you would think shops would want to sell you gear!!! PM'd you with my number. Mike
13. Madness......I heard Ian play this bass on Friday at an outdoor gig and it was quite stunning, sounded exceptional in the overall band mix. Whoever buys it will have a truly splendid bass soundwise. Mike
14.
Whichever ones spend the most on advertising... Alex
Errrrrrrrr.....actually no. Mike
15. No, it's a beaut. I remember seeing the first of those as they appeared and was being setup, Mr Goodfellow had certainly turned a corner when he got that wood in. Got to pop in a week on Saturday when I'm gigging in Brighton....wonder what new delights will be underway on the workbench?!
16. Just to keep Andy going......... I'll try and get some better ones of the burst 5 later on
17. Maybe this will help you calm down, totally inappropriate for this thread.............
18. And a little something for the afternoon....will get some more later
19. Here you go.... Just for starters.................done in a rush, sorry!
20. Which one.....cherry sunburst or kingfisher blue?
21. And the look of it of course! But we know you don't like furniture basses, Ferret..... Mike
22. I don't have a preference one way or the other, both designs have their merits and I have a bass collection which is probably 60% bolt on and 40% thru neck, some basses work better or feel better with either design but I don't have a specific preference. There's no doubting the aesthetic of a great thru-neck but likewise, the bounciness of a bolt on is great too and makes neck changes, retro LED-addition much easier. The only neck preference I have is for glossy, lacquered necks and occasionally a lacquered fingerboard but that's not to say some satin necks aren't great, I just find some basses use satin necks as an excuse for not finishing the necks off properly, thankfully it doesn't happen very often. Couldn't be happier with my GB necks though. Mike
23. Make sure your wring them out first, don't want Nick's thighs getting chaffed.....did the stains come out by the way?
24. You're right, there is a red thru-neck on the GB Galleries page. Surprised there aren't more about...... Mike
25.
It's funny you say that, one of the most stunning Rumours I have seen is a black 4 string Rumour with blue LEDs. No scratchplate or anything... and it looked... stunning. The Rumour lends itself to the use of exotic woods due to the laminate construction. Its all down to personal taste at the end of the day!
Absolutely! So who is going to lay down the money for a thru neck Spitfire....or more to the point, does anyone have one? Mike
