1. okies, it looks like I REALLY need to sell something! I'd be happy to consider any offers. On the trade front, again, I invite any trades - will let this go for relatively little in a two-for-one trade!

3. traded him my F-Bass, and he was really pleasant & easy to deal with. No troubles whatsoever!
4. Traded him my Skjold. He was, once again, top drawer!
5.
Wow! This looks great!
And can be yours for a few quid! I tell you guys, Finns are totally nuts for Fenders, Music Mans (Music Men??) and Warwicks! You'd totally NOT be ripping me off by trading me a couple of those 700+ quid stingrays or warwicks. I've made the mistake of selling a fender for the exact amt I paid to a brit incl shipping. Sold in one day (45 minutes actually) no questions asked, no bargaining. Oh and for custom work they order AV basses from Czech Republic. Cost about 1100 quid for a pretty standard five-banger. And they VERY often have frets coming loose or intonation not lining up or saddle being all shot to hell or ... Compare that to Alan, that second best thing to come out of Scotland! (first being single malts! lord, let rather mine fingers rot and fall off than my tongue be deprived the touch o' scottish single malt! No, wait. There's also James I and steam locomotive and bagpipes and men wearing pretty skirts and the glasgow kiss and the royal mile and FISH aka Derek William Dick)
6. Traded my Read NAMM bass for Andy's warwick and fender. Was a really smooth trade, he rocks every day and twice on tuesdays!
7. Jan bought my Turner Electroline fretless and he was a pleasure to deal with. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
8. Bought CKiwi's Smith off Paul last winter and forgot to give feedback, so: Paul's one of the good guys!

molan

Going through my old purchases and sales: Sorry for the delay! I'm kinda old (turned 30 in May) and not used to teh interwebnetz way of doing things. Anyways, the business went real smooth and would recommend Molan for anyone!
10. Hah, I can't seem to get the details on Leo Fender -assiociated instruments right! When I sold a Jazz Bass locally, someone phoned me to let me know that the topic in the for sale ad were the exact words that make up the name of a custom shop USA fender! Who'd have thought that describing <bass type: J or P> <the year on which it's specs are based> <it's invented by marketing department> or 'Jazz Bass 62 re-issue' would actually mis-represent the goods for sale!!! Anyways, strikethrough'd the probable misrepresentation, and thanks for the wishings of luck!
11. pm replied I might add that I would have to discount some basses severely when working out a trade value. If a bass is of a brand that is notoriously hard to sell, I'm probably not interested unless you're prepared to practically give it away. OTOH the list price for a bongo 5 at Thomann is GBP1775 and that's not in this finish. [s]I think the medallion gold is now out of production.[/s] Apparently it's NOT medallion gold?
12. Thinning the herd, part n. Got this from fullie in trade for the Skjold and since this doesn't look like an old lady's stained tea table am looking to sell. Has the usual features, with two MM humbuckers and 4-band eq: you get a ton of useful tones! Quite ergonomic despite the looks. Comes with an EBMM hard case, in exc+/mint condition. Asking GBP1100. Would be happy to trade down, esp for fenders and warwicks. Will add pics later today, when I get home.
13. Need to thin the herd... Hand made before they started using CNC machines, these are considered collectible - dunno about that but this is a VERY fine guitar. Only light marks, none of which shows unless the light hits the guitar just so. Lots of fret life left. I'd be happy to shoot some more photos! Edit: ooops! Forgot the price thang. I'd like GBP1400. Trades welcome! Esp. partial trades down for something that's relatively easy to sell, say strats, teles etc. edit: it has transpired that I must sell something and I think this guitar would be quite desirable for many. Now asking GBP1300 and that is a very good price for these guitars.
14. Hah, the musitec four is for sale at Kitarapaja/Bass Centre AGAIN! pic The bridge is now where it should be, the pups are aero, the pre-amp is aguilar, but for some reason that bass doesn't stay with one player for long.
15.
Did it have a darkstar pickup? I think Marko builds quite a few basses using those pickups. sure no worries, missä suomessa sää asut? (i'm presuming you are finnish)
I saw it years ago... Could've been bartolini. Living in Turku, am a finn, only use English online tho (who's a dirty old MMORPG player with mates and mate-esses 'round the isles eh?)
16. So, the thinning of the herd continues. The penultimate fretted Skjold in my stable, this bass more or less does it all: slap, rnb, burpy fingerstyle, rock tones... Great instrument for chording, too! Has an even, full tone that goes many places with little tweaks from the pre-amp. Spanish Cedar body, with BEM top, maple/purpleheart neck with pau ferro fretboard. 35" scale. The wonderful full spectrum Skjold pickups and the very powerful and clear East/Skjold pre-amp. Hipshot hardware, quite light and well-balanced. [snip] The bass DOES have a single nasty blemish from where the previous owner seems to have dropped it, as shown on the picture. Comes with a light hard case. edit: no asking price at the moment. Toying with the idea of keeping the Skjolds. Would still entertain offers of cash or trades.
17. I've seen one bass by Ursin at BassCenter in Helsinki, I think. It was a good one. Would be interesting to see and hear your bass in person once it is complete...
18.
It also might be worth looking into luthiers outside the UK. I'm getting a bass built, which is more or less a replica of a Fodera Imperial Elite 6 string, by a Finnish luthier (ok , yes i live in Finland), but the price is much cheaper than a Fodera, all in it's costing me around 1500€ , which is a great price. The guy is a great luthier too. There's a whole bunch of luthiers in Europe, who i'm sure would be willing to come close to meeting your requirements. Remember we're in a recession...work is slow these days in some parts
Who would this be? I'm not sure I'd expect Fodera tone, because not all Finnish builders will have the highest quality woods available to them, which is a factor of some importance. The workmanship will not doubt be good. Will you get the Pope pre-amp for your bass? There is at least one luthier here in Turku who has a great reputation but who sure as f*** didn't give me my money's worth.* But I was young and gullible. Don't get a 'Musitec' by T.K. if you can avoid it! *the dude tried to persuade me into allowing him to use the neck he'd built and sanded through the wood to the graphite stiffening bars and lacquered over on the five-string, and placed the bridge of the 4-string so far back so that it couldn't be intonated properly. And his schedules never, not once, held. He'd be 4 weeks to 8 weeks late, a fortnight if the work was replacing one machine head. Had another luthier fix the 4-string, but I'm not taking my business to dude #1 any time soon. Guy #2 does small work while you wait and he is crazy good. Not cheap though! But Sale Custom Guitars is the place to go. How unfortunate that the name doesn't inspire associations of excellence.
19. Thanks for the appreciation mates The headstock in Skjolds is interesting, it grew on me for sure. Perhaps a little more dynamic shape would've fit the bass better, but now it sort of balances the bass - acquired taste, I admit.
20. cleaning the stables, thinning the herd... Somehow the double bass is what I dig and fretless just isn't the same. Pete Skjold is a fretless player and it shows in his work - his fretted basses are really good, easily as good as, say, Spector or Smith (but more versatile and have a MUCH fuller sound) but his special love is for fretless. I've had plenty of high end goodness so I should know! This bass has mahogany body, maple top and back, bloodwood unlined fretboard and 35" scale. East/Skjold electronics mean this is one versatile beast. Quite light for it's apparent size. I guesstimate about 8 pounds. The acoustic tone is woody and full. The electronics can go from total thump to aggressive burp. Incredible, but you can't play this arco and my walking lines are just plain better on an upright bass! Pete's single-cut body shape is termed the 'whaleback' and it adds sustain without making construction more complicated. Pete says this construction avoids any possibility of stability problems down the road from strongly asymmetrical neck-body joint. Also, adjusting the truss rod is as easy as it is in double cutaway models, which is a definite plus for fretless players! EDIT: toying with keeping this. If you're interested, let me know and we'll talk
