1.
Clips sent
Nice clips, I must say! I'd also take a StingRay5 plus about 150 pounds.
2. Should be fun and useful! Can you email them to prkl0405(at)yahoo.co.uk? Would be very grateful!
3. I had a Trace rig, then SWR, then got these and I've not looked at other cabinets since. Those who know my ... proclivity for switching basses are always astonished at my being utterly disinterested in any other cabs and amps out there. Well, a Low B 1 series II would be lovely for those smaller gigs! (I use a Read Custom Purity pre-amp. best there is, for me) You DO need enough power, though! I used to have a QSC PLX2402 and now have their 1104 which is both affordable and light. I'd say it's a good fit unless you play metal, but I can't turn it up past 11 o'clock at even the bigger gigs.
4.
I did pretty much my entire first album with this bass, I'm just not a fan of green but believe me this bass is AMAZING, the tonal options are second to none. Personally I put Valenti's up there with USA Laklands and Sadowskys in terms of quality
Thanks for the praise! edit: removed stupid rant.
5.
This is stunning Ville, very nice! Who took the Noguera 6?
Alembic1989 has it, the lucky bastich. 'e 'ad me, me lads, 'e 'ad me, an' aye put meself in th' noose. WEll.... I dunno. Guess it was a fair trade.
6. I traded the Noguera YC6 for this + some cash, which in hindsight was a mistake, listening to the tracks we cut for the CD that's coming out next Sunday. But that bass would've needed a new bridge, pre-amp and neck pocket work or a real wood shim to work to my preferences and that's some 300-400 pounds worth of luthiery we're talking about, and I'm in the process of buying back my Skjold fretted 6 despite it having a natural maple top + singlecut body which is a combo that doesn't work for me - I'll just have to wear my sunglasses. So I can be cool. Coz that the law. Thanks for the appreciation of the sig Anyways, about this bass: like I said, it's a terrific traditional sort of bass. *I* think it's easily better than the metro I traded locally. If I were still a working bassist who does cover gigs for 90% of my income, this would be a strong contender: it's light, it's versatile, it can come reasonably close to the J, P and MM tones in the hits we used to cover at the flick of a switch, the single coil and humbucking modes don't have wildly different output levels, it doesn't cost several thousands to replace if it's stolen, it doesn't look like a hippie sandwich etc... For ex, my BN6 couldn't be used in both single coil and humbucking modes without a pedal to adjust for differing output levels. And it didn't do a P tone at all. And it looks really wild when the guitarist has a white strat, the drummer has blue sparkly Gretsch or a white Pearl set and the bassist has a natural enhanced grain spikey thing. Jarring, to put it mildly! edit: I think it should be said that the Noguera was not a crap bass or anything - I'd not have said it was good if it weren't! My preferences are somewhat particular, since I have VERY light technique and I prefer a WIDE tone, like a Spector, Skjold or Roscoe has. I aspire to sound like Melvin Davis on Lee Ritenour's Live in LA record. (not that I succeed!!! haha)
7. formely cgordonfreeman's. thread I got this in trade but since I'm going all 6-string... There's a really slick jazz tone in this bass, and in humbucking mode does P-tones well enough, I think. Should be great for someone who needs traditional tones with extra oomph available (not mandatory by any means!) from the Aguilar pre-amp, which is known for it's transparency. Fit and finish are incredible. Let me say that again. Godlessness. /alanmoore Here are some people discussing Nino's work: TalkBass thread on Valenti basses Anyways, this thing can do many conventional tones, is VERY easy to play and is light and balances well and and and - oh it's made in USA. I personally think it combines many of the best features of a jazz with those of P or StingRay. For my personal use I'd add a mid with sweep for the ultimate in Leo-land coverage. Comes with a hard case. It's in the same condition as in cgordonfreeman's thread, BUT it now also has a small ding on top of the headstock, shown in pic. This is now on sale for 1000 pounds, shipped to Europe. Or a partial trade for a Stingray? (5 preferred) As you can see below, the former owners have regarded the bass highly.
8. A trade offer has been made which I'm likely to take. If you're thinking this would be a nice bass to have (and it is!) this would be the time to send in your offers.
9. Toasted sold me his Compulator and everything went as smooth as you could hope. yay!
10. Got the George L plugs quickly and without any fuss. Nice!
11. Top drawer! Too fair for his own good, really. (he opted for a quick delivery service because of the strikes, which I didn't even request... I think could have pocket a good 5 quid with a slower service!)
12. checked ebay fees - NOT going to list there! No way. 'So this will stay listed at various forums then' -bump
13. Well, since I've decided to go 6 strings... The best five-string bass I've ever had, so I'm selling this and keeping my SKB3006. The bass is in really good condition, but there is a bump in the back from a previous owner, as shown in the pics. The neck and the frets are in great shape and the top is flawless. From what I know, Roscoe doesn't really do solid finishes so it's a bit of a rarity to boot. Neck is really sleek, really quick maple-purpleheart-maple with walnut stringers. Fretboard is morado I think? Ash body. 35" scale, but this is one of those basses where the extra inch doesn't feel like it makes for an extra stretch. 18,3 mm spacing at bridge doesn't weight much at all. will weigh this later on. Excellent balance on strap and on lap. Bartolini classic barts: kinda bart jazz thing. No hum! Open, detailed. Glockenklang pre: probably the best pre for Roscoes: deep, clear lows, full mids, glassy highs. This is a very punchy bass! Plays effortlessly, has a ton of tones and a really thunderous B-string. So far, only Dingwall has been able to provide similar feel and clarity in the low notes. Can do a P-like thumpy bark or a J-like bridge pup if you want it to. The bad: it doesn't look like a Fender? Lacks a c-string (that's really subjective though) This is one of those basses that sounds a little 'rough' on it's own, it's in the mix where it shines. So it isn't a lyrical soloist bass by any means, but for that other 99.5% of my playing it was just spot on. But I've got the sixer which does more or less what this does and has the c-string. Think about something like GBP1350 which is, I think a fair price. Would welcome trade offers but would really prefer to trade down unless it was for a sweet shuker, sei or skjold six-string. Trade up to an MTD 635? Possibly. So, either something that would complement the Roscoe six well or something bog standard I can re-sell in Finland. edited for clarity, thanks for Molan for pointing out the obfuscatory nature or my previous communique. Stingray owners: I can't trade straight for a stingray, obviously, but I would consider a GOOD stingray worth about 900 pounds if we were to trade. If a versatile, more ergonomic albeit more idiosyncratic fiver is something you seek to possess, let me know eh?
14. It's a really nice bass, but I'm moving to 6 strings only. Serial # 6415 so it's not pre-Gibson, but it's a great bass nonetheless. Guess even Gibson can produce a quality instrument! Has growl and sustains like a mofo and has the punchiest attack of any neck-through bass I've ever had or heard. Has some scuffing in the back, but the top and the neck are in flawless condition. The stuff on the electronics cavity cover is from a sticker a previous owner put on the bass. Would come off with no problem but I never seem to have the time... The solid flame maple body wings are apparently an ungettable feature at this time, and I'd bet they are the reason this bass has such enormous punch that cuts through a mix like few neck-throughs do. Comes with the Tobias hard case, in good condition. Asking EUR1400 or nearest offer, or something interesting in trade or just any old bass with cash my way really, I'll just sell it on. Like, maybe a Stingray and 400 quid?
15. Bought Toasted's compulator. Was as fine a transaction as one could hope for. Time to s q u eeze them notes!
16. jaysis am I hung over or what. sat down for a pint with some friends yesterday and at about 11 o'clock we were right pissed. didn't stop for 3 more hours though. Maybe if you could persuade Espie to tie her hair into a pony tail? Besides, I think I won: someone seriously took the comparison of a lady in her sixties (has to be?) to a woman not 30. I mean... That should be a no contest, really. AND IT ISN'T!
17. inebriated addendum: I have known, albeit not carnally, shrews and dormice more attractive than ms. Spalding. Thankfully, the capacity to connect via a musical performance relies on factors not related to sexual attractiveness between functional members of homo sapiens and therefore the music of ms. Spalding may live on even should members of genus homo sapiens decline her advances come mating season.
18.
Shallow answer, put their pictures up side by side on your screen and choose the obvious. Sorry, but she is seriously fit.

I would go with ToP, but I'd be thinking of Esperanza
Erm... Man what? There are some very good looking women musicians around, but Esperanza? Are you guys blind? Esperanza plays mean bass, but as she is belabouring under the misapprehension of her vocal work being comparable, my ticket money goes elsewhere.
19.
Excellent books for those getting into playing & reading: topics covered include: Scales, Fingering, Chord Theory, All Rock Styles, Bass Duets and Exercises, Sight reading & Famous recorded basslines. £10 posted
I've misplaced my copies of these, I'll take them of course there shipping will be a few quid more with the Royal Mail, but we can sort that out I think.
20.
Waiting for Ebay!!!
Oh yeah. There are some BCers interested in the partial trade for a stingray, so I might as well hold on to this and see if someone wants this hard enough. now I'm off to enjoy my swine flu. hurts like f***.
