  3. Purchased from Thomann about 5 months ago and on my bass for a handful of gigs. Easy to fit but you need bridge adjusters. Sounded great but a little too dark for me. My bass didn’t like the standard realist either boxed and as new price includes postage of around £5 tracked

  5. I should point out that the metal part of the string has been wound around the peg. Fitted to a 3/4 bass I have never thought it could be an issue as the spiro E I use does it too
  6. Velvet Blue G A E at least I assume they are 😀 No idea where the other string is I got them of this forum about 3 years ago and loved them for a short while but never gigged as I didn’t want to get my nut and bridge setup. Been in storage all this time Please note These strings have been discontinued but maybe worth a look if you want a gut sound they are in good shape price includes postage offers?
  7. Pirastro Oliv G been on my bass for around 6 months and then stored for about 12 months. Still has life Good for someone wanting to try with the big outlay for a new on. great sound I found it to have a little more tension than Evah light G and is a little thicker so I am sticking with Evah also worth knowing you will need to keep retuning until it settles down price includes postage
  8. Are these light (weich) Spirocore strings?
  9. I use one of these. Great tone and a really great price. I swapped from using a shadow a few years back and wished I’d done it sooner.
  10. Purchased an EA cab from Chris. He drove it to my door from Canterbury to Somerset, on route to Bristol. Just a shame there was no time for cuppa Great communication and super reliable guy. this is what basschat is all about
  11. I can confirm that the Beedster special ‘deliver to your door’ service is top class. Highly recommended
  12. DM sent re afro cuban book and charlie parker omni book
  13. Sounds like you have a similar experience to me. I am more convinced to use two cabs stacked but only having the top one switched on. Kinda like an expensive beer crate (remember those? every venue with a stage had beer crates 🙂 Then again, I haven't played in a 'proper' music venue/pub for ages. They don't tend to like jazz) Do those Berg cabs have a tilt back option?
  14. I have had similar things happen over the years. Another issue is that the louder you amplify the bass, the less of the bass you will hear. People spend days, weeks, years experimenting with pickups, strings and amps. It is all very subjective and a lot goes out the window when playing loud, which is why I tend to avoid doing that where possible. Best gigs are when I can hear my bass acoustically. I think the additional volume from stacking cabs may be one of the reasons I don't like the sound. There is a lot to be said for using a preamp with HPF. The times when I haven't used one and then had to plug into a PA have been terrible. Imagine trying to play subtle jazz bass when all you can hear is Sub Bass - I generally take a Fishman Preamp to PA gigs and use as a DI box, as I don't trust sound engineers with DB, and this is coming from an ex sound engineer (although the good ones are amazing) 🙂 For the record I use a Revolution Solo pu and EA micro with an EA 11 cab A great setup for low volume gigs
  15. Do you have a photo of this thing in action? I am intrigued
  16. You are right. I just checked on another site and consensus is to place as close as possible. I don’t like the sound though when stacked. Maybe it is too much volume as that messes with the bass a lot. The best result I have had is when stacking but with only the top cab in use.
  17. Thanks for the shout I am considering this cab as I am only down the road and know how good they are. Trouble is I have a very nice EA 110 so would need to sell that and the. Still want a 112 for louder gigs if I had a spare 250 I would go for it though
