1.
Thanks for that. Nice to have it confirmed. How do Cort guitars rate compared to other factories? I've noodled around on a couple of Squier strats and this is the best one, but I imagine there are a lot of frogs out there.
I've owned a couple of corts and a currently have a 1989 samick silver series & to be honest their isn't really much diffference. The Samick has a ply body but apart from it being heavier and a bit denser it doesn't really affect the sound much at all compared to present day squires they are great (apart from the classic vibes which I am extremely impressed with) they are much better built and have better hardware to the present standard squires though
 2.
Now surplus to requirements, I bought this in May last year. To save me taking any extra pics I've included those sent to me by the guy I bought it from. He said it was based on an early 90's Korean (Cort factory) model s/n CN 432959. This one is the original neck and body, in similarly good overall condition (the neck is not new but there was almost no fret wear and that has been polished out. The Gilmour mods include plain black scratch plate, stubby whammy bar, 'Gilmour switch' that activates both neck and bridge pups, higher output pots, rewire and extra shielding as per picture. The pictures say it all, really. Sexy beast, isn't it! There was a slight issue with one of the higher frets catching, I had them dressed and now it plays beautifully and sounds, well, like a strat. I have a soft Fender gig bag, the not very padded ones, that it lives in. I took it to one rehearsal, played it at home for a while and then it went back in the bag. Could be yours for £200 including the bag and postage, £185 collected from SE Essex.
Definetly cort, its a 1994 model the N being for nineties and the first number the year
 3.
Not necessarily The OP's bro probably bought it as a CS / 60th in good faith. (As may have been the case with whoever sold it to them). Even so, the serial dates it to 2005/6 out of Corona which puts it in the ballpark for a 60th designation. Some 60th Highways came out with standard size H/S's (2005-2006 production) and large headstocks were intro'd later during 2006. If it were a CS, however, it would probably also have a CS logo on the headstock rear apart from any other indicators. The '60' badge on the H/S rear looks like the one that went on the MIM 60 rather than the all-engraved badge used on the USA standard, though these may have been applied to H'Way 1's. There were various Anni models floating around in 2006 - MIM, H'Way 1, USA Standard, CS. The USA Standard carried a diamond logo on the H/S front. The CS was a single finish option, IIRC - sort of winey red trans over flame, standard size H/S. And even if it is a Highway they're very nice guitars - way better than MIM's and IMO more characterful than the US Standard.
yeah might not be a highway indeed but its definetly not a custom shop model. can't agree with your last comment though some of the ones I have played are planks of wood
 4. This isn't a custom shop model as I am sure you are aware. It looks like a Highway model, do you have any more information about it?
 5. My brother has a couple of Variaxes, a 500 in sunburst and a black 700 with trem if any of those float your boat

 7. I no longer own any bass gear but have been asked by our ex drummer to play at his mums birthday party. He has managed to get hold of a bass and has offered to hire me some gear. Does anyone know where I could hire a small rig or even better a half decent combo from for about £30 in the Manchester Area? Ian
 8. I am thinking of buying a fender strat plus. I was just wondering what people thought of them as opposed to buying a standard strat which would roughly cost about the same??
 9. Gone now along witht he rest of my bass gear, I am going back to thin strings and anoying bass players by playing screaming solos incredibly loud :-)
 10.
Is this reliable? Have you any pictures of it. Cheers Andy
PM'd and yes it's very reliable :-) Ian

 19. I have given up gigging and decided to get rid of my bass gear I have a Fender Jazz in sunburst with maple neck The bad bits: It's Been routed for a pre amp and has a battery compartment fitted in the back. It also has a Jack socket on the side. These were all professionally done before I bought it. It had Seymour Duncan Quarter poulnders and preamp in when I got it. I removed it all and fitted a pair of Wizzard 64s (I am sure you don't need me to tell you how good these are) I have fitted a new control plate (fender) new pots CTS 250K, Sprague orange drop 0.22 cap, new cloth wiring etc, new All Parts tort pick guard. it has a few nasty chips which you will be able to see in the photos, Good bits The maple neck is superb, the action is low and it plays and sounds absolutely fantastic It comes with a moulded Fender Case and is fitted with straplocks The best bit is the price
