1. It just gets better and better - http://markpercy.co.uk/musician_attacked.htm This guy appears to have some seriously bad Karma going on!
 2.
So... the most important aspects are 1) driving licence, 2) car and 3) huge rig.
Not forgetting 4) Hard of hearing (to avoid any further aural damage from that massive backline) And since when has an 8 by 10 cab constituted an 'easy get-in, get-out'??
 3. Blimey, speechless - thought I was reading a Scientology ad for a minute then
 4. This looks like it could be the solution to my home practicing problems. Anyone with the Zoom B9 know if you can record into Logic with it?
 5.
It is your duty to play in every Blues Brothers band you can. "No pharmaceutical product could ever equal the rush you get when the band hits that groove, the people are dancing, shouting, and swaying, and the house is rocking!"
I've seen the light - they're emailing me a set list, audition early in the new year. We're getting the band back together!
 6.
Some great duck dunn lines, the music generally means it will be a fun crowd booking you, great gig IMO
Thanks Lojo, that's what I thought. Waiting for a call back from them - they still haven't found anyone. I might still be donning the tie and trilby - watch this space. (well it's the closest to a Blues brother!)
 7.
The Royal Mail stands to do rather well out of Mr Pratt's book!
Too right - nearly cost me as much to send it as it would have to buy. And that was second-class. Must be a cheaper way?
 8.
Playing with a kicking horn section is great. You'll have a blast - go for it!
Well they certainly have a full-on horn section so that could indeed be fun as you suggest.
 9. Anyone played in any type of Blues Brothers band in the past or presently. May be such an opportunity down my way but not sure if the over-familiar set would quickly become tedious for a bassist, or indeed it might be a blast?
 10. I think this is my favourite ever genre description! http://www.gumtree.com/p/community/bass-player-wanted/1004686026
 11. I've finished this and can't say I'll be sorry to see the back of it. Furnish me with a UK address and it's yours for the reading.
 12. A 'blimey I can't believe how much stuff is for sale on here' monday morning bump
 13. I'm selling my Peavey Tour 700 and Hartke VX410 Cab as I'm no longer in a band and I need the money more than the clutter. The Tour is housed in a Warwick Rockbag and both are in very good condition. All the tech stuff can be found here http://www.peavey.co...3B%26nbsp%3B700 I've only used it for a handful of gigs so it's barely run in, and as with all Peavey gear it'll probably go on forever and a day. I'm looking for £280 for the head, which is a bargain considering the Rockbags retail at around £60. Similarly, the Hartke VX410 is in very good condition with few signs of wear. I guess people know all about these cabs so I won't bore you with details. Needless to say the sound is punchy and warm, and would be great paired with a 1 by 15" speaker. I'm looking for £80 for the cab. I'd be prepared to deliver in the Plymouth/Exeter area for a contribution to fuel. I will be travelling up to Bristol/South Wales, probably before Xmas and so could also deliver in that area. Pics to follow...
 14.
A preamp or DI box will help you. Logic is definitely NOT the issue; between the included amp simulators, EQs, compressors and the impulse response reverb (not for use as a reverb, but to load impulse responses of speaker cabinets - plenty of free IRs around which give great speaker simualtion results) you can get GREAT sounds from Logic. Do you have any effects pedals? Using one a makeshift DI box may help, too.
Thanks Seb, I was discussing this just last night with a sound engineer friend. I'm going to look out for a cheap DI box and try that out. I wish I'd kept my KRK Rokits now but there you go. We both agreed that you should NEVER sell an item of musical equipment, unless you're really up against the wall - you always come to regret it (as I do with several items I've sold recently). I WILL find those decent bass sounds in Logic!
 15. Thanks all, looks like I should have kept the Hartke Bass attack (and my KRK monitors ) . At the price they're going for the Behringer BDI 21 now looks my best bet for what I want to do.
 16.
For me, Selling England by The Pound is the greatest prog album ever. Firth of Fith - just wow.
If anyone likes decent drumming (and Genesis) then this guy is well worth a look. He started out just putting a few vids of himself jamming along to Genesis tracks and it just grew from there. He now plays in iGenesis - a 'virtual' tribute band with the other two members being based in the US and Canada. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZfDFrfLQ9E&feature=share&list=PL884491E976B9CAE9
 17.
It would be useful to know what is wrong with your sound at present. Not enough body?Distortion? What speakers are you using with your Mac?
I don't have any speakers, or monitors, at this time so I'm using Audio Technika ATH-M50 headphones. Sound-wise, just generally a very thin, unsatisfying sound which sometimes veers towards distortion
 18.
What is the impedance of the input you are using?
According to the bumph here http://www.presonus.com/products/AudioBox-USB it's 1200 ohms (balanced)
 19. Since my services were dispensed by my last band I have become a bedroom bass guitarist. I don't have a practise amp so all my playing is through Logic on my Mac, via a Presonus audio interface. I'm having real trouble getting a decent bass sound, even through the various bass instruments in Logic - which is surprising considering the cost of the software. I'm just wondering what other BC'ers use for home practise/recording etc, whether I'd be better off using some sort of preamp rather than leaving it to the software?
