1. More photos.....

David (mottlefeeder) and Mike (Tauzero) with the EUB's

Owain looking very much the part on Alpha Dave's Warwick....

    And Alpha Dave...

    Enter the Spartan warriors......:)

Mark (7 string) playing his ACG 9 string monster through that lovely TC 2x10 combo....

Ewan, Shaun and Bertie funking it out (how Ewan kept his sh*t together after Sat is beyond me.....)

Ewan possibly looks like he was about to hurl here......:)

  2. Finally got a few minutes to post some stuff...!!

First thing I have to say is a massive thanks to Alan for putting this on. I dont want to be taking any credit for messing with a few emails and putting a few lists together. Alan does all the real work :) I am also sending a massive cyber hug to Lynnie for the cakes and biscuits...Mmmmmmm ....thanks Darlin

    Ok dokey.....

    On with the show...

Here is the interesting stuff straight from the start....Everybody, and I do mean everybody who comes down, feels to me like guys who I have known for a long time. I am pretty sure that I could say that everybody who comes along for the Sat night stay over has a good laugh...I dont think I stopped laughing from the moment I get there till I got home....

I got there for about 4pm, and unfortunately had to start drinking in the bar....

Much drinking and laughing was the order of the day at the Balmoral until around 9pm when we headed off to the curry....

Bloody great meal. I think we pretty much took over the entire restaurant.#

After the Cobra had been ordered, poppadoms arrived....followed by a full Indian banquet of mixed starters, and mains.....Wonderful. I think it worked really well as we all had a fair bit of choice. I for one was nicely stuffed with food and beer...

(Dave P now swiftly moves on as he does not want any more mention of this part of the evening....Alan...your numbers up soon....)

After the curry, back to the Balmoral for a swift Whisky / beer...and then off for a bit of cottaging.....and drinking until 3ish (I think).....

Special attention must be made of Ewan at this point.....he was mullered, shitfaced...very drunk, a we bit over the edge....It was great watching him trying to plug a lead into his combo...... You Sir are a star....I believe they kept playing bass until 4 in the morning.....

Steven (munkonthill) provided us all with great entertainment as he brought along a Rick (KAY) 4001 copy that (he thinks) is original....poor misguided fool... (actually, it was one of the nicest looking Ricks I had seen - but dont tell him I think that.... )

Breakfast in the Balmoral was Ace...full dirt fry up....and then it was off to the hall to help Alan set a few things up...

I think the layout worked out really well this time. We had a good sized room upstairs for most of the basses that people brought along.

These photos show a clear central bit of floor....It disappeared and got covered in more bass exotica after I took these shots....

The entrance lobby seating area was put aside for Chris May from Overwater, and Haden williams.

John Shuker didn't make it down unfortunately, but in all honesty I would have no idea where he could have gone as the place was pretty full (and I would be dammed if we would move the cakes and biscuits to allow a few more basses..... :D )

The Main hall was once again set up for the amps and cabs, and we had a great mixture of stuff to try out.

I will bang some more photos up in the next post but I would like to mention this first:-

Shaun, was the guitar hero from last year, and was going to be doing the same this year..... He is such a top guy, an enormously funny chap, and a great player. Unfortunately (massive understatement ...) He has just had to start a series of Chemotherapy.....he had his first session last week....He still wanted to come down to the Curry night.....:P

Shaun had arranged for his Son, Tony to come down and play guitar at the last minute for him on the Sunday (and he did a great Job, cheers pal  ). But The highlight for me personally was walking in after lunch and finding Shaun stood on stage Jamming along with Ewan, kicking out a funky version of some Hendrix tune....It was awesome, and just great to see and hear him again....My heart felt best wishes - get well soon pal :)

Will post some more photos of the rest of the motley crue next....

  7.
Ok, you've convinced me to show some solidarity for my homeland!
Just purchased a ticket and I'll email the gear list I can bring...

Now, where is that map and compass...

    :)
Nice one Euan...list updated pal !

Tha balance is starting to tip..... :)

  8. I have just updated the gear list with Tinyvikings gear....nice one pal :)

A fantastic range of equipment is going to be there for people to check out...!!

Basses upstairs, amps and cabs downstairs in the noisy room.

We are going to set up a table with 'stuff for sale'. This is for anything bass / music related that you want to bring along and sell on the day.

Its upto the individual bringing something along to put a figure on it and name.....

  9.
Might be because some of us Scots have had the advantage of having been to Moffat before, and already know that there's not a lot of reason to go back.
:)

Its got a great sandwich shop and curry house......

I do keep going over to Manchester for the UK bass day...and I am off to Harrogate again....funnily enough I don't go for the local views.. :)

  10.
I thought this was sold out a few weeks back so didn't bother making arrangements and I'm 30mins from Moffat.
Pretty sure it was on the website too that i read it being sold out. ?
Is it still on and is there any more info about it ?

    Cheers
    Dave
Check out the web link
    www.moffatbassbash.co.uk

Nope....It was only the overnight B&B tickets that had sold out...

Tickets still available for the Sunday Bash...bring along that nice overwater of yours.... :)

As you are only 30mins away it would be a crime not to come down.....

  11.
I plead a special dispensation. I`m doing a gig on the saturday night and it will be a late one otherwise I would be there.

Question. What to do - play a gig, get paid and mabye have some fun with the ladies afterwards :) or drive for 1.5 hours to spend time with some hairy ars*d blokes and bass guitars?

    Sorry folks!!

    Jez
Its on the Sunday....you can do both... :)

  12. Not sure how many of you guys are in Scotland, but there is a bass bash organised for this weekend (Sun 6th Feb)

...so far there are way more people coming from over the Border (and many from way down south) than guys from Scotland....

    Moffat Bass Bash

Come on chaps...help support this event and tip the balance back your way :)

  13. Only 1 week to go for this now. Its shaping up to be a great do

Dont forget, if you dont have a ticket on the sunday you wont get in.

More people coming from down south than Scotland to this so far...!!

  14. Room places now added so you can all check out which B&B you are staying at
    http://www.moffatbassbash.co.uk/

Sadly our guitar hero for the day can't be with us at the bash now due to ill health... :)

He has organised his son to take his place on guitar for the day, and he has stepped upto the mark to learn the tunes.....Take it easy Shaun...

  15. Just read the new Overwater reviews in the latest Bass Mag.

They look very good. Chris May is going to be at Moffat on the Sunday so this would be a damn good opportunity for anybody to check them out in the flesh !!

  16. Quick bump to keep this on the horizon....get your daytime tickets on the web site

And another quick photo of the lesser spotted bearded Scot...

  17.
Hoping to get there on Sunday band permitting.
Nice one Al....great if you could get up there for a catch up !

Now all we need to do is get a few more of you Scots to come to this Scottish Bass bash..... :)

    Dave

  18.
This is a relaxed bash with a good laugh being important to everyone and if you are in Scotland one of the few opportunities to see a lot of very nice gear without to far to travel.

All of this for a tenner which I think is a pretty good deal.

Tickets can be bought on the website.

    Spot on Alan

I am really looking forward to seeing Stevie Williams again (caught him a couple of times at UK bass day). Great guy who make a massive contribution to the UK bass scene as a whole.

Here is a link to Stevie's Web site

Its always great to catch up with loads of familiar faces at these sort of gatherings, but would be great to meet a load of new ones as well....

Its also going to be a great opportunity to chat with some other stunning UK bass builders on the day

As Alan said, we have sorted out a set list of tunes for people to get up with to jam along with gear to try out (its on the web site)
The songs are fairly obvious and typical rock tracks that most people will know. The idea of the set list is simply so that people can try out gear in a band environment.

Shaun (the resident guitar man), is also more than happy to sit back and jam along with some improvised stuff if that's what you fancy doing....

Get your tickets booked chaps !!

    Dave
