the logo is in front of one of the ports. Will that not interfere with the airflow?
You would be astounded at how many variations of size and position of the logo I looked at before going for what I did.

I am in a fortunate position to have a number of cabs to carry out trials on.
cabs with no logo, just a perforated grill, and I literally covered the areas that I wanted to place the logo on to hear the effect it has.....Its certainly not done with no consideration to the effects :)

Keep this in mind. The grill is set away from the port by about 35mm. The logo solid area is about 20mm wide.....

The port at exit diameter is roughly 120mm
I ran low freq level test tones and obviously played cabs side by side.
Try it yourself on a cab at some point - remember you are not shoving something right at the exit of the port, but placing something over the grill that is set well away from the port exit.

The logo over the port location made no audible difference to the cab.
The foundation 112's are shaping up nicely but until I have tried a few more options on drivers and crossovers, then I am not going to rush into production with them. The grills on these have Logo badges for the time being, but final production runs will be CNC punched as the Foundation 212.
I try and carry out trials with a realistic approach, and concentrate on live testing where possible.
These are going to be at the UK bass day and London Bass show for anybody who wants to come along for a chat :)

    Yamaha TX81Z :-
Fully working order, obviously it has a few marks and scratches, but nothing significant.
I used this with a set of Midi keyboard synth pedals but replaced it a couple of years ago. Its now simply surplus to my needs. Comes with the original manual and power lead.
Here some blurb about the unit.

"Yet another FM synthesizer from Yamaha, this one comes in a compact, multitimbral, 1-unit rackmount module and is basically a key-less version of the DX-11. it's an inexpensive source of those sounds with lots of programmability. Eight voice polyphony, 128 preset sounds, 32 user and lots of functions hidden behind 11 push buttons.
The TX81Z features the ability to use waveforms other than just a sine wave. There are eight voices that can be split, layered and detuned. Also onboard are pseudo-effects including delay and reverb. These features can be stored as performance setups. The effects are simply envelope and re-triggering effects. The TX81Z works great as a sound-module for any live or studio production. It's got a wider range of sounds than the DX-7 and with the excellent MIDI implementation it makes a great alternative or backup synth for percussive, punchy FM synth sounds"

The Other Yamaha Sound Expander half rack module is in full working order. It came with my pedals but I never used it. It does not have a power supply. Its offered free with the TX81Z……
Payment by paypal, cash or direct bank transfer of funds

  3. These are your mid range drivers not HF drivers, although lots of players are happy with how high these go and don't feel the need for a HF driver as well.

The LA6 CBMR is a closed back (ie its completely sealed) The Alpha 6 is not. So you would need to build a sealed enclosure for the Alpha if you buy that one, and you would be taking away cab volume. Both would work well but I would opt for the LA6 CBMR out of those two.

  4. Good stuff You may find that the mid range overtakes the 10" in relative output so an attenuator would be a must if you do go down the mid range driver option.

John at Audio components UK is a good source for crossover parts

I noticed the image above had an logo stitch in - is that a new service they offer?!?
Its a printed on logo, not stitched. Fantastically well done. I sent over the image to Bryn and the first sample arrived within the week.

I decided to include a Roqsolid cover with every cab. They have a great proven track record, and I have used them myself for years for previous cabs.

Its a great unit, very well built (I was expecting it to be plastic, but its all metal construction). Very handy built in drum machine and headphone out. I bought it as a back up for my main effect unit but have simply never used it.

It has a USB connection, and loads of great editable effects

    £65 plus £5 postage
(or local pickup - I am near Preston in the North West)

  7.
Yeah pretty sure I'm not doing anything dumb :) , FYI according to the schematic in the manual the preset level is right before the power section. No matter how low I take the gain I still get a slight "fizz" on the bottom end ...
Check the batteries on your bass if its active.....??

I have had low level distortion when the batteries are about to die......worth checking out ???

  8.
CHEERS Jim! I feel a bit ambivalent about the ACG, love the looks and it plays well. But the EQ really is not what I am looking for after recording some and gigging it.
You could retro fit a john east pre amp......

My ACG Harlot has one of those fitted, same number of knobs and twiddly bits yer honer.....Alan fitted it in my last Harlot and my new Harlot is having the same.

The East pre amps are very good and more 'traditional' in terms of what we are used to (ie active bass treble and sweepable mid)

Alans EQ's are an amazing bit of kit, it just does not suit all.....my brain is far to simple to gain the benefits of the filter based EQ's in the ACG's so the more standard John east circuit fitted the bill for me.

Best of luck with the sale - Sure it wont take long

  9.
there you are then EA claim that both sets of ideas are true at the same time and their cabs have all the advantages.

    http://www.eaamps.com/index.php?p=translines&m=tech

Mind you, there is no way this is a transmission line
Indeed....i had a pair of EA CXL112 transmission line cabs, great little cabs, but I had problems with one of the drivers. when I took the driver out and checked out the inside it was very apparant this is not a true transmision line cab (it was just a long shelf port), but more importantly, the '8ohm' cab is loaded with a 4ohm driver.......MY mark bass head kept shutting down with the pair of them and suddently it became obvious why.......it did explain why they are loud '8ohm' cabs.... :)

EA do make good cabs, but they are just not as described......

  10. Any body want to buy a neck...one careful owner....

Mike (Tauzero) on guitar duty for a few tunes and Tony (Shaun's Lad) having a bash on drums.

My Pal Stuart on bass with Mike and Bertie....

    And one of Bertie....

I had a bloody great time.....:)

I enjoyed Stevie Williams...if ever you meet somebody more laid back....well I genuinely dont think that's possible. He provided an interesting and amusing session, mainly talking about the Music business, his experiences and did some very tasty little bits of playing....very nice.

I had a great time testing out a few bits of kit, road testing the three way fecker again. Lots of great sounding cabs. I dont think there was a single cab that I tried that I didn't think sounded great (you would have to be a bit of Muppet to make something that you cant get a great sound out of nowadays)

The Hartke and Tech cabs sounded very nice.....

Peters 2x12 sounded great and is stupid light

I have always loved Rich's Mark bass 4x10, great cab...

I have just realised I didn't get to try out the Mark bass combo or the TC combo....great big fat hairy arse's....:) - next time then...:D

Owain brought along a Phil Jones little combo, I tried it out at low level and it was very, very nice indeed....

All in all...a bloody top day and a really great Saturday night !!!
