  1. I still have my Rack bass POD XT and my 500x, but I’m truth I haven’t used them in a long while.
When I do dig them out, they seem a bit awkward by today’s standards. We are lucky these days to have more blocks to play with than these older units. The ability to run parallel paths is also much easier these days. That said, they both sound decent which is why I’ve kept them.

After much toing and froing Ive settled on the Boss GT1K which is overkill for my needs really but sounds great and is so flexible.

  2. I’m a big fan of Boss compact pedal and have been on a mission to try to do what you’ve done above 👆🏻. I always end up reverting to some sort of multi-Fx to try and cram everything into one board:

This is what I was using until I recently got a GT1000, which I hated at first. I’ve stuck with it though and now after quite a lot of experimenting and gigging I’ve got it setup just how I like it.

The most difficult things have been finding really good compression and drives in the unit, but I got there in the end.

I’m just using the GT1k for all my gigs now and leaving all the separate pedals at home.

I love being able to edit the unit on my iPad via Bluetooth on gigs.

  3. Mackie DL1608 digital mixer. Good condition with all the original packaging so can post at the buyers risk.

16 x XLR ins, 4 x combi inputs, 6 x 1/4' aux outputs. In built compression, Eq, gates, delay and reverb, plus other effects.

If you've not used on of these before you will need a wireless router and an iPad to use it. However, once connected it is a breeze to use

We used it to supply all our front of house mix allowing 4 of us to haver independent IEM mixes.

Include the iPads lock, allen key and original PSU

*note - The box says it the ‘lightning’ version - it isn’t, it’s the ‘30 pin’. I’ve had a few of these mixers and I must have swapped the boxes over at some stage before selling.

Priced to sell at £350 inc UK mainland postage.

I also have the 19" rackmount adapter should any prospective buyers be interested for a few extra quid.

I will also knock off a few quid for collection form North London N21

The Platinum Stage and Pro are two different units, the Stage is more compact and lightweight (with a belt/strap clip) whereas the Pro is a floor unit with a nice screen for the inbuilt tuner and footswitches for mute and signal boost. The Stage has all the features you mention so the only difference for you would be the 3 position HPF on the Stage (40hz, 80hz & 160hz) vs the potentiometer on the Pro.

They both sound great, I have both and use the Pro live at every gig. The Stage is used at home but I'd have no qualms about using it live if it had a mute and tuner function.

Quite correct, I’m talking about the Pro.

  5. In response to the above. I used to put together a ‘catch all’ board but it ended up being huge and cumbersome. As I play various different styles with different acts, each have different requirements (even depending on venue). I’ve ended up with a few smaller boards that I can rearrange when needed.

Sometimes I just need a tuner, sometimes I need the kitchen sink so I’ll take a Helix stomp/other multi fx. Often there is no backline or I’ll be on IEM’s so I’ll have to take a DI/Preamp. It’s all horses for courses.

Last night I had backline provided and had a few points in the set where Octave, filter and a bit of OD would be enhance things, Hence cobbling together the above for the night.

That rig sounded awesome, the Mini Q is seriously underrated!

As to if it’s the new ‘norm’ I can only speak personally and say it is for me. I’d imagine though if I just played in a single band I could setup one board and be done with it.

Recently got hold of a BB-1X and it really does it for me. I couldn't tell you why exactly, it's just one of those gig-volume 'special sauce' jobs. I hope whoever pulls the trigger on this feels the same way!

I totally agree. At first playing at home I didn’t like it at all. In the context of a band it’s great! Boss really got it right with the BB-1x.
I’m seriously tempted to buy this one to have a spare.

  7. I finally gave in and signed up 3 years ago to the Sibelius licence having used it for all my transcriptions for about 15-20 odd years. Whilst the latest version is ‘better’ it’s fundamentally the same a Sibelius 6. The one thing I really like though is that I can now manipulate all my .sib files on my iPad which has been a life saver on gigs. - not sure that feature is worth the expense though.

I’d also be interested to hear what alternatives there are for transcribing simple bass lines that can be saved out as pdf’s

  8. I’m the same, I want to like them. I’ve tried every mod in the book and still it doesn’t quite float the proverbial boat.

Lots of people do really like them and I assume that I don’t play ‘that’ sort of music?

  9. I bought an EHX Mono Synth from Stephen.  As above very good comms with prompt replies. The pedal was exactly as described (basically new) with the original box and candy. It was also beautifully packaged - ready to survive any manhandling en route.

Highly recommended seller, super smooth purchase. I would not hesitate to buy from Stephen again.

  10. Ok,

So you need to find ‘target’ in the assign menu. There you can select the Octave for example and then you can choose the settings you need the assign to alter.

The Flanger effect is identical for FX1 and FX2 so I’m not sure quite what’s going on there? Again in the ‘target’ section of the assign you should be able to deal with individual parameters for each effect.

    Hope that helps.
