1. Chuffed... now the proud owner of: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sandberg_PM4.html
2. Yeah still got the ashdown kit and will hang onto that. You're right about what feels good... I plugged in my Vintage fretless tonight that I bought off eBay for £120 used. It's absolutely bloody amazing. It just works for me and I love playing it. Crazy eh?
3. I've sold all my kit in the last couple of weeks and now have enough to get a US P bass, stingray, G&L or similar for about £600-700. I'm going over to bass direct in Warwick on sat to try a few out. After my last gig I came off and told the guys I was selling it all and have finally managed to do that. So anyone who knows of a good US P shout me up!
4. What do these basses sound like? Are they any good to play??
5. Bloody confusing isn't it. Guess that's why a lot of people play it safe and go for the P-Bass. I'm going over to Warwick to Bass Direct to try a couple out. He's got a couple of Stingrays, P-Bass and the Sandberg. I quite like the look of the blue P-bass advertised on here, but am put off that its in Czech.
6. Look at this beauty. If I sell my combo I could afford it http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sandberg_PM4.html That's the one I want
7. I'll have a look at G&L but have to admit don't know much about them. TRBboy - I'm interested
8. Hi all Looking for thoughts and advice here... I've sold my 3 basses and now have £600 ish to spend on a new bass. I play in a rock covers band so want something that makes a fair bit of noise. I'd love a rick but can't afford it, have tried a Sandberg and really liked that but they are out of range. Do you think a fender p is the best option or should I be a bit more creative? What does £600 get you?
9. Dudes, what do you think about this on Ebay, I'm considering buying. Would this knock out much sound in a gig? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251028388205&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123#ht_500wt_1053 Its a peavey bass mark VIII series. Any good or not? Cheers people x
10. Lol, good coz that's what colour mine is.
11.
more attack and sizzle.
That's the sound I want dude... bang on.
12. So from experience how much difference in tone/sound do you get between Seymour Duncan SPB-1 Lindy Fralin DiMarzio There is quite a large price difference and would most listeners or players come to that notice the difference? Much difference between Seymour Duncan and Wilkinson?
13. Hi again, thanks for all the info. Great to be part of such an active forum. I'm near Bromsgrove, just south of Birmingham. It's definitely a Mex. I don't know what it is about the Ashdown, but so many people seem to be against them. It's really difficult isn't it trying to aspire to get a good thumping/lovely bass tone, but not having the money to get the best kit, that would ultimately give you that. So you just have to use what you have/can afford. The band that played before us - whist being a bunch of youngsters - had amazing kit. The bassist had a lovely 600 watt TE stack, with a few pedals and it sounded awesome. Don't get me wrong I play fairly well for the type of music we play (classic Rock, not too hard), but just can't help feeling my kit isn't doing me justice. However I'm sure in the hands of an expert it would sound better. I want to get that sound of really tight, driving bass lines. Surely a P Bass can achieve that? Pedals maybe? The pups I added were Wilkinson.
14. Leo Quan Badass III bass bridge in A-class condition - immaculate, will fit any bass that is or is like fenders (jazz, precision etc) It is not in the original packaging, but is as good as new. Lovely addition to the Fender/Squire bass £70 + £5 postage
15. Thanks all. I'll keep it and just get it improved. It does *feel* like a good bass, maybe it's just me anyone want to buy a Bad Ass going cheap?
16.
What pick-up do you have in there at the moment ? Also what Amp / Cab are you using ?
Using Ashdown Mag 300 4x10 + Ashdown 1 x 15 ABM cab. Also line out to PA. I played Friday night, and the sound just didn't do it for me
17. Mmmm... I bought the bad ass as everyone seemed to be raving about them. I was trying to get a bit more sustain and depth to the sound. Do you think the standard bridge is OK? I guess the ultimate question is how good can a MIM be? Better/similar/worse than Squires etc?
18. Hi all. Would anyone like to share thoughts on whether you think it is worth keeping my P Bass that I've had for a couple of years? It plays quite well, but just doesn't seem to sound 'right'. I've had it into my local guitar shop a few months ago and had pups upgraded, added a Bad Ass bridge, but it just doesn't sound like I would expect it to. Friend of mine recommended a superb guitar technician to take it to, but this is likely to cost another £150 or so. Should I sell it and put towards another bass (although I don't really have enough money) or get it looked at and re-set up for improvement? ta
19. Bumping this one... I was in pmt in Birmingham today trying an 15inch abm cab hooked up to a mag 410 combo (same as mine). It sounded really really good. I'd like to buy one. It is £350. But I notice on eBay there is another ashdown 15inch cab going for £140. I think it must be mag. Now the question is this: How much difference is there between abm and mag, and would I notice the benefits playing a few gigs using my mex p bass?? Is it worth the extra money? Also do they both have the same driver in them?. Thanks for your advice
20. would you be able to meet somewhere north midlands to handover? I'm south midlands
