1. I've got some string sets I'm not likely to use so looking to sell or possibly swap. 3 x GHS Bass Boomers 4 String, Light Gauge (40 55 75 95) - really liked the tone of these but just a bit too light for my taste. 2 x EBS Northern Light Titanium Nickel 5 String, Classic Medium Gauge (45 65 85 105 128) - these cut through the mix really well but a little too bright for me Looking for £17.50 £15.00 each posted in the UK. Could potentially swap for other strings as I'm still in search of a new string of choice since they changed the coating on the DR Extras a few years back. Quite like the Lakland nickels which, I believe are GHS boomers repackaged, also had a bass a few years back with great but unidentified strings that had silver/grey silks on them. I like a medium or medium/light gauge so 40/45 for the G to 100/105 for the E. Cash always good though too. I'm in Chepstow, S. Wales if you're thinking of collection. PM me or send me a txt to 07515 929935. Pete
2. Withdrawn,
3. On the whole 1024/5 versus 2024/5 thing... I questioned the price difference, though I have to say I can recall the 2024/5 being available, new, at around the £1200 mark with the 1024/5 at the £650/700 range. Anyway, I went back and fore a few times buying/selling 1024x basses and always loved the tone but also always felt something intangible was missing. As much as I really wanted a 2024, I couldn't justify the new price and the rare occasions they came up as second hand, were always priced using the "These originally retailed at £250,000,000 so my secondhand price of £50 less than you can buy a new one for..." method stayed my hand. Fast forward to a few months back where I picked up yet another 1024x and I finally was convinced enough that I really liked the PJ combination, the neck and body shape etc. so I decided to take the plunge on a BB P34 I know it's not like for like, but it is the replacement for the 2024 series with the same refinements. Worth every penny. The hardware is flawless, the finish spot on, great weight, smashing set up and the bass absolutely sings, before even being plugged in. It is unbelievably resonant. My one and only criticism would be lack of colour choice. Otherwise, better than any Fender, Lakland, FBass, Warwick, Status I have owned and I've had numerous of each!
4. Any idea what these weigh? I had some DB112s previously and they seemed a lot heavier than the advertised 45lbs (I think), but sounded fantastic. Wonder how these compare.

CassGer bought a bass from me recently and was a deal which all went smoothly considering the distance and that Gerard was a first time buyer on here. Pete
6. David bought my MarkBass NY121 Cab, Very easy deal, good guy to deal with,
7. I've had both Italian made and Indonesian made and can't say I noticed any difference in quality or tone.
8.
Hey, I'd be interested in this, but I'd need it posted to NI (still part of the UK but some places like DPD charge highlands and islands). Would you be ok with that?
I've sent you a personal message.
9. Marc bought one of my MarkBass NY121 cabs. top chap and very easy deal.
10. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:247254] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:247256] Excellent condition and super light, this little fella packs a real punch. More than capable of holding its own, on its own, in most pubs and smaller clubs, you really can't go wrong. Pair it with a twin or under a cmd121P combo for a massive sounding mini stack. Comes with a roqsolid cover in black with yellow piping. Can send in UK for £15 insured but prefer collection from Chepstow if possible, Not particularly after anything in trade except maybe a Line 6 G30 receiver or complete G50 system. 11. Have a pair of heavy duty speaker cab covers that came with my TRV121H cabs. They're a bit too big and I think they were made to fit the TRV151 cab stood on its side, the newer one rather than the squarer original. Either that or there's room for substantial padding to be added. Internal dimensions are 60cm x 48cm x 45cm. I daresay there are other cabs they'd fit too. Looking for £25 each posted in U.K. OR £40 for the pair. PM me or tx/call me on 07515929935 Pete
12. Bump for lower price and added pics
13. Sooo, having picked up a couple of TRV121H cabs and then being frustrated at not being able to get the car packed as neatly as I can with the NY121P cabs, Sunday brought some clarity and I've figured the packing out. So putting these up for sale. All in very good condition, cabs come with covers, one roqsolid type one similar to the MarkBass covers but no brand on there. Superb uber-portable rig and I've done plenty of gigs just using one cab. Can't really go wrong. Asking £300 for each cab, with cover. £325 for the LMIII Would sell full rig for £875 cash. Would consider posting but prefer collection or meet. Possibly trade for pair of Aguilar SL112 or an SL410. Might say yes to a nice bass as part-ex, always love a Lakland and Fender, Yamaha Bb1024/5x or TRB6 if light. Status maybe. PM me or txt/call 07515929935. Worst that happens is we can't agree a deal.
14. Pics here https://www.icloud.c...#B0Q5M7GFPCAH3B Recent acquisition as convinced myself I wanted bigger cabs than my NY121 but after an hour of trying to pack the car, just not gonna happen and there's really nothing at all I dislike about the NY121 cabs so but daft really. All in excellent and rarely gigged by previous owner. Asking £350 for each cab, with cover. £325 for the LMIII Would sell full rig for £950 cash. Would consider posting but prefer collection or meet. Possibly trade for pair of Aguilar SL112 or an SL410. Might say yes to a nice bass as part-ex, always love a Lakland and Fender, Yamaha Bb1024/5x or TRB6 if light. Status maybe. 16. This is an early, made in Korea model in pearl white with maple board, pearl blocks and white binding. It has the orginal Aero pick-ups still installed and a Bartolini NTBT pre-amp fitted. This was my main gig bass for about 7 years or so but for some reason I never truly loved it and was always looking for something else (which I've finally found in the shape of a Lakland J-Sonic-5 and a JO5). Loads of pics here https://www.icloud.c...#B0Q5ejO17lG5Mq It's the loudest bass I've ever heard with an incredibly beefy tone. It is nicely set-up and plays beautifully. Does literally everything really well fingerstyle, slap and sits beautifully in a band mix. I just never quite got comfortable playing it for some reason, though up to about a year or so ago, it was always the best bass I owned and my "go to" weapon of choice. It has one mark worthy of mentioning which I couldn't get in the pics which is a scratch about 3cm long above the neck pick-up. It hasn't gone through to the wood, but it is more than a surface scratch. It's not visible unless you look for it. The bass is wearing a brown tortoiseshell pickguard at the moment but I also have the original white one. I'm looking for £950, collected from Chepstow. Can talk about P&P, but insured it will cost about £40 and there'd need to be a case involved I think. Would consider travelling to meet up and complete a deal. Not really looking for any trades, sale much preferred, but might consider a deal if there's a big chunk of cash coming my way. PM or call/txt me on 07515 929935 Cheers, Pete
17.
Bit wierd, sounds like a phase issue but then I'd expect that to also show up with both pups full on ...
Am wondering if the pick-ups aren't matched, with one overwound compared to the other causing phase cancellation. There's a significant chunk of output comes in between 8 and 10 on the pots so maybe at that point there's enough from bridge to hold its own versus the neck but not at lower settings.
I'd be tempted to check the ground connections on the back of the pots, in fact that all ground points have a good connection to the jack sleeve and to each other.
Checked and all good. Thanks both.
18. Can anyone post a pic of the wiring on their passive Lakland JO4/JO5/44-60/55-60? Ideally one with Lakand pick-ups (red and black wire and green and black wire). Recently picked up a 55-60 which had replacement pick-ups and pre-amp installed. Have put the originals back in along with the original controls that came with the bass but having a weird issue with output. I've fitted passive jazz electronics before. I'm no expert with the soldering iron but get the job done okay. It's wired as per this diagram https://www.talkbass.com/attachments/image-jpg.682224/ Best if I describe states and what I'm hearing... Neck Vol Full Up - Sound as expected, tone behaves fine Bridge Vol Full Up - Sound as expected, tone behaves fine Both Vol Full Up - Sound pretty much as expected, tone behaves fine. Slight volume dip (normal for single coils when both on) Neck Vol Half Way, Brige Vol Off - As expected. Turning up bridge volume brings in gradually more top end to the point where bridge volume is greater than neck volume Then the weird one... Bridge Vol Half Way, Neck Vol Off - Starts as expected, but as soon as neck volume added in, huge drop in bottom end in particular, but overall just very gnarly, trebly tone, gets better as neck volume comes up to level of bridge. So far, only thing I've discovered is that lowering the height of the neck pick-up significantly, shifts the point at which this drop occurs from when the volume is first engaged to when it's almost fully on. Lowering the neck pick-up to that extent does make the bridge pick-up dominant.
