That Eclipse Ltd is/was gorgeous! Is this one you've sold on?
No I still own all 3. (When I said 'previous owner' I meant I only have photos taken by the previous owner to me). However the Eclipse Ltd is a bit of an odd one in my collection ... if someone was to make me an offer I couldn't refuse , I'd probably part with it. Currently gassing for an F-bass BN5 fretless so the funds would help

I'm considering buying a Roland GR-20 synth, combined with a Yamaha BB-604 bass (I think) already fitted with a GK-3B pickup. I've tried this combo in the shop and it seems fine. It surprised me that there were no tracking issues. Single notes and fifths worked fine as did major triads, though minor triads got a bit iffy (lowest note was pitched a fret too high). Also didn't notice any latency which was where I expected it might really fall down. Has to be said though, I was not playing along with any other instruments. Seems that the unit both has plenty of sounds of its own, and will let me drive other midi units through the midi out. What are your experiences with the GR-20 and/or GK-3B ? Andy

I have a bass or two that needs adding here May have to wait till I get home. In the mean time, I think you guys would probably want to take a peek at the Hollowbody bass club over on TB. Andy

[OT] Car recommendations for URB transport ?
BigBeatNut replied to BigBeatNut's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Thanks for all the input. Haven't made a decision yet, but I'm leaning towards a small estate for ease of loading. Cheers, Andy -
I had mine in a loan Micra while my Mondeo was being repaired. No problem.
I really have problems picturing how this works ... does the neck finish up in the passenger footwell or something ? Anyway ... seems there are two votes here for estates, which is kind of where I thought I'd finish up. Love to see a picture of a DB in something as small as a micra Andy -

I feel sure my ancient escort estate will fail it's upcoming MOT, so I'm looking for ideas for a 2nd hand car that's big enough (just) to transport a 3/4 upright plus small amp (markbass 1x12). I'm thinking Ford Focus hatch, but don't know if the length is there so I might be looking at an estate again. The escort estate takes the bass fairly easily, with the neck popping out between the two front seats ... I'm guessing with a hatch I might even need to fold the passenger seat forward to give the bass enough room. How small can i go ? Or, how small do YOU go ? Cheers, Andy
All the love for this amp seems to be from people who play rock. How would it cope with a Motown sound for a functions band, do you think? And are you due north anytime soon? Cheers, Martin
Sorry for slow reply, I've had a busy few days. I think the rock players have been talking particularly about the 'boost' control, which is designed to add more 'growl'. I leave that fairly low or off, and I've used the amp both for function bands (blues brothers, soul, pop) and for blues bands. I'm pretty sure you'd be able dial in a sound you'd be happy with. The amp has three other controls (besides the boost and 4-band eq) for tone shaping: The voicing button (extra depth e.g. for 5-string bass), a presence control, and a contour control, which progressively dials in a 'scooped' contour, e.g. for slap. I think we could work something out re travel. Will PM you. Andy
