Hello all... I need some serious help... Basically ive done a big upgrade to my Squier VM Jazz this week and installed a new bridge (Gotoh 201) Pickups (SD SJB1n and STK2b) and new wiring kit (ki_ogons solderless control plate)... Being the man I am I decided to have a go at fitting the pickups myself, all went fine with the neck pickup due to only 2 wires, had a bit of trouble with the STK but got there in the end... Everything works fine BUT... There is a hell of alot of noise and when I hit my ODB3 there is a high pitched squeal from the amp I took it to my local guitar shop but the engineer is away until tues and I have a gig on sat in Liverpool... Can anybody help me PLEASE!! Is it a grounding issue? The wire from the bridge is connected up with the STKs black wire as says the schematic. I'm baffled. Cheers, Dave

I'm thinking of trying the Wizard 84s - will these give me a similar sort of high output growl? only £70 for a set, looking at £120 for the SD

I have a Hartke HA3500 and custom Emminence Beta 4x12 - not quite the same league as an Ampeg but it does me fine. Was thinking of having a MM style pup put in the bridge area, would this be a stupid thing to try and do? Expensive?

Hey all bass brethren... I have a Squier VM Jazz as my main bass at the moment (im a poor student) and have just come into a bit of dollar from the sale of another bass and thinking about upgrading this bad boy. I'm happy with it as it is playability wise (the neck is the sex) but i reckon I could get alot more out of the sound of it. Im willing to gut out the controls and get some new pups in there, was thinking of trying Wizard Thumpers or SD Quarter Pounders but no idea where to go for wiring etc. I play in a 4 piece alt-rock originals band who play quite hard and I use a pick and also as a session bassist for a couple of acoustic acts around here which i play fingerstyle if that helps any factors.
