My CC never has anything decent in, I always check on Mondays which is the day many will be selling off gear (and I mean electrical) although I guess both meanings are true!

Do you mean the Head or the Cab? There have been a number of threads on here about some of the Heads emiting hi frequency noise:you could try doing a Search for it either here or on a well known US 'talkbass' site.

Had a Crafter 5 string, could not get the intonation right on the bottom B, and it fed back badly with my GK so I got rid. I think the 4 string version is around £250 now but mine was very well built and finished .

I've just had a long conversation with the importer of SX bass guitars into this country. I pointed out there were a large number of UK bassists personally importing from the USA because they could not get the SX Basses they wanted over here. He says they do bring 8000 over a year, many under the Jim Deacon brand and there are a network of Dealers in this country who stock them. I made a plea for the more Vintage type ones, both P & J types and the 5 stringers too. I am speaking to one of the Jim Deacon Dealers tomorrow around this subject so watch this space. It would be good to be able to order an SX from this country, get a guarantee and support a local music shop.

Ah, I feel a major reminisce coming on... I saw Back Door twice in the early 70's ( pre 73) when I was still at school up in Newcastle. The first time was around the re-release of their first album called "Back Door" by Warners, as I think they had done a private white label pressing first. After the gig at the Mayfair?? I wandered into the dressing room ( the innocence of youth) and got the sleeve signed by CH himself: he was busy wiping off his strings! The second time I saw them was at Biddle? Arts centre near Washington and they augmented the band with Alexis Corner, who really just sat in with them rather than being integral to the band. Seeing Back Door was one of the reasons I took up playing the bass... as I did not play it at the time. Not long after I went to Leeds Poly, got an EB2, a Truvoice 50 watt amp, and 15" cab the size of a Smeg fridge. It still took me 15 more years before I actually played in bands!
