Holy sh*t.... I got a reply from Billy Sheehan saying he would like to be at the show. Does anyone know anyone involved in organising that I can pass this email on to???
Yay!! I imagine, in the first instance, that you could simply ask them exactly who you should contact, through their website, here: http://www.londonbas...com/contact-us/ Plenty of time, since it would not be for 2014 anyway. If you draw a blank, another possible solution could be for me to have a word with Lars Mullen, the journalist/PR who is helping us immensely with publicity and rockstars contacts for the BC Bass Relay. He seems to work a lot with Blaze Publishing (sponsors of the show, as well as publisher of Bass Guitar Mag and others), so he might be willing and able to help. But before we pester him, I'd try the website. Edit: come to think of it, it might even work for 2014 if we're lucky. Worth a try.

LOL In other news, I tweeted Music Industry News (as myself, not as BC) and got them to send me a PDF of the pages where our Relay article appears. So, if someone would like a copy, just ask me and I'll forward it to you.
Low B or a high C, personally I'd rather have the high C.
I think that what we were talking about here was the C extension that can be added to a (4-string) double bass, to reach the low C, not about a high C string. Or did I get the wrong end of the stick?
-
And we suddenly have lots of reading guests! Remember that not everyone is on FB, so please post updates on here too.
-
Tweeted! And with this reply I'm in the loop for updates, which will be duly tweeted in turn.
-
I've just spoken to Lars, and he's fine with the bass being with James on 24th, and he'll let us know about Dave and Guy when he's been able to talk to both of them (Guy being in Australia at the moment). We were also talking about writing another press release while all this is happening or just afterwards - we both had the same idea at the same time So for the moment, we rock on as planned! \m/ \m/
-
Milton, thanks. As for the relay's schedule, I know as much as you guys and no more, because Lars is still negotiating with Guy and Dave. I have emailed Lars letting him know of James' meeting on Aug 24th, but for the moment I have no reply. I will obviously let you all know as soon as something moves. As for the press contacts, I would still wait. It will/would look better if we could have a newly re-written press release including names and photos of the stars with James, as opposed to jumping the gun and getting in touch now.
-
I would love all this to work out in such a way that James can make not just his meetup with Mark King and Andrew Levy (obviously), but also the one with Dave Swift and Guy Pratt in London. At the latter, you bet I'll be taking my usual billion photos and GBs of footage!

LOL @ Peter! Yes, let's not forget that, while the stars do bring in glamour and recognition and good publicity, there are many not so well known bassists who have taken part in the relay and are no less talented or less deserving of praise than those who've hit the big time.
-
Yep, big thanks to Lars too. Ok, I'm going to need the bass on the 24th
I'll make sure to mention that to Lars when he comes back with possible dates for the London meetup.
-
Also, don't forget that Lars Mullen is also working to make sure that the bass is played by Guy Pratt and Dave Swift some time in the next few weeks somewhere in London - let's keep that in mind too.
-
Brilliant. Thank you James for your hard work, and also huge thanks to Donald, who got us in touch with Rhino in the first place, and was instrumental in creating this latest opportunity too. Edit: just seen the addition of Mark King to the list of Relay stars! Excellent. Time to write another press release?

South East Bass Bash No.7, Surrey, Saturday 21st September 2013
Silvia Bluejay replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
It was Walman who thought about having a vintage corner, not Kiwi -
Click on the photo, it will open in an enlarged view - the bass definitely has 5 strings and 5 tuners, so I imagine it's a low B that's needed here, not a low C PS Welcome, defcom!
-
Excellent, thanks - tweeted
-
We'll tweet the blog then! Could I ask you to repost those pics on here in the meantime, please?
-
If anyone has any photos of the bash, please post them here and I'll tweet the thread again for us and our followers. Steve, you posted a couple on Twitter yesterday, were they from the bash? I didn't retweet as I wasn't sure.
