  1. After doing some research it seems Overwater pickups have a 'flat response' and are not everyones cup of tea.

I'm trying to decide whether to go with them or maybe have some Barts installed on my custom Overwater Jazz?

I know that if I go with the Overwaters I won't be able to swap them out further down the line as they're drilled differently.

I'm wanting the sound to have some bark to it and wondered everyone's opinions who have owned Overwater Basses?

Just as a side note the bass will have the Overwater Preamp installed.

  2. Not to be confused with the Chinese/Indonesian models!

This is an American 🇺🇸 made bass and shares the same electronics as a 2 band Stingray...Superb Stingray tone and excellent craftsmanship.

If you have an American made SUB, you already have a Stingray Classic with a slightly different finish.

Bass is in very good condition with only a few very minor marks (see photos). I'll include the Ernie Ball hardcase which is in used condition however the interior is near perfect and works great.

Price includes postage to UK mainland and will be packed professionally.

    Any questions just ask.

Yes, the weight thing can be an issue (most of the ones I’ve played - lots! - have been very heavy), so if weight is an issue for you make sure you’ve specified that.

Ive got a very heavy Warwick and prefer a bit of weight so all good I think. Thanks for the heads up though 🙃

For me, a good top REALLY makes the bass truly unique and yours. Woods such as these are like finger prints and snow flakes... pretty much no two are the same!

These are a few of the tops on some of my basses/guitars. You can easily get lost in the figuring of the woods.

Those tops looks very tempting. 🤤

  5. Today I ordered my very first Overwater Bass. I've never played one but after extensive research I don't think I'll be disappointed.

I had a good lengthy chat with the owner Chris and went through my requirements - super nice guy and very knowledgeable.

I went for the standard J5 contemporary model - 35' ccale with swamp ash body (satin finish) rosewood fretboard, overwater electronics & pups.

Now for the hard part... Deciding on colour! I'm torn between sunburst & toitoise pickguard or red wine burst with black pickguard. Perhaps black hardware 🤔

I'd really like to hear from any other Overwater players out there..Particularly the J's!  Show me what you got 👊

  6. One of the best Class D heads on the market... 800w of pure clean power.

The head is in very good condition and comes with the official Genzler case and high quality speaker cable. The case has a minor tear but still works fine and keeps the amp secure.

Only selling as I'm switching to IEM and Preamp pedal for live shows.

Price includes postage to UK mainland.

    No trades

    Thanks

  7. So I'm kind of in a dilemma with my live sound...

We're running IEM now and I'm strongly considering ditching head & cab.

Ive been looking to add a nice preamp pedal to my chain and run direct to FOH... Mesa Subway di, Trickfish Minnow, Nordstrand Starlifter etc.

Ive recently also stumbled across the HX Stomp which looks like it could solve all of my problems in one simple solution. My only reservation is that I'll be disappointed with the effects and amp sims for bass.

I don't use tons effects - Octave, Chrorus, Envelope and some compression. Definitely no fuzz or overdrive.

Does anyone else go direct to FOH? If so, do you prefer one of the above options?

    Thanks
  8. Been looking at Bacchus Woodline AC and Dragonfly Fat J basses in particular recently. They look very well made and

I recently played an Xotic XJ-1T which I loved also so it's out of the three!

Anyone have experience with these basses and know best place to order being based in UK? 😁

    Thanks

  9. Does anyone have experience with this bass?

I tried out the XJ-1T 5 String recently which was incredible to play but out of my budget at the moment.

I see the XJPRO is almost half the price 🤔

Yes, I think they are made of cheese, the cheapest of the cheap - replace those as soon as you can. I didn't actually have an question as to whether I would upgrade mine as I went to put strap locks on the bass, but trying to undo the screw to get the old one off it broke and left half the screw in the body. Luckily I had a friend who managed to get the old bit out and redo the hole, so while I was there I updated the rest of the screws.

Thanks. He has the options to upgrade to security locks for £30. Might be worth me doing it.

Obviously there is that to-the-point thing, which is a bit jarring to start with, but beyond that, I didn't find him that helpful when trying to work out what I wanted back in the day, and not really clear what he was suggesting, and then when it came to aftersales, actively unhelpful.

I do love the bass though, especially once i have replaced the cheap strap screws..

Was it the standard strap screws you replaced? Think it's worth me upgrading these to one if the lock systems options?

If you're not sure about spec my inclination would be to email Adrien and Co. Since they've now made 100s of Elwoods they must have seen nearly every combo they have available and know how it sounds.

I'll order my own custom one day but like you, just not sure which bits makes a difference when ordering! 😅

I did drop Adrian an email but his English isn't great and he wasn't able to help much other than refer me to his videos which is fair enough I suppose.
