I can see a way of doing DI on it, if DI was the only output you wanted and you didn't mind losing one effect slot. The Left/Mono output is also a headphone output, so if the final effect inverted the left output and sent it to the right side (and applied gain of about 4x to bring the signal from 150-200mV P-P to 600-1000mV P-P), you'd just need a stereo jack to XLR lead.
Wouldn't this result in an unbalanced signal? I think you'd want DI to be balanced.

  2. I love flats and play them exclusively on whatever bass I currently have.

I owned a Sire V7 for a while and tried a couple of sets: TI Jazz, and D'Addario Chromes.

Here is a clip of Sire V7 with TI Jazz:

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByytttLU9OSvZlYxWDBfN3pOSnM

I didn't really like this combination, as it seems to lack any personality.

TI Jazz were too low tension for me, and I ended up selling them.

The Chromes were a bit better; but, as much as I wanted to love the Sire V7, ultimately I don't seem to get on with jazz basses in general, and it also ended up being sold.

Chromes were my go-to flats for many years, until I discovered Fender 9050s. It goes slightly off-topic, but as a comparison here is the same song with the same band, this time using a G&L L2500 Tribute with Fender 9050 flats:

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByytttLU9OSvaGtjVWRVY1BMaVE

I prefer that combination a lot.

  3. Zoom R24 multitrack recorder + official soft case

[s]£220 including postage [/s] Edit: NOW SOLD

Very good condition, as only used a handful of times.

Comes with official Zoom soft case, instructions, and power supply (it can also run off batteries). Memory card not included.

I used it for recording rehearsals and gigs. I haven't any expertise/training in recording, but I found it very easy to use.

For mixing, you can do it all within the Zoom R24, or transfer the WAV files onto a computer.

    Official description:

"The Zoom R24 is the ultimate solution for creators looking to make their mark on the world. It provides everything you need to make professional studio-quality recordings: a 24-track recorder, a pad sampler, a rhythm machine, a DAW control surface and a computer audio interface, all in one portable unit. It even has its own built-in stereo condenser microphones as well as 8 mic/line/instrument level inputs and a chromatic tuner. In addition, the R24 offers a hundred different ways to polish your recordings, including compression, reverb, delay, amp models and mastering effects."

  6. I just bought an Ampeg SCR-DI from Daryl.
It was in great condition, just as he described it (basically brand new).
    Great communication at all stages.
He even went out of his way to deliver it to me personally.
    Thanks Daryl!

I've learned some of the more clichéd lines and have taken to inventing some lines of my own with more of an unpredictable bent to them.

wouldn't a Made in China neck mean it is a squier?

The Fender 'Modern Player' series ran from about 2011-2014. They were made in China.

    My idea is this:
Bridge wing pickup (doesn't require preamp)
Fingerboard pickup that goes into an eq pedal mounted under the fingerboard for volume and eq control.
Both of these then go into a fender micro aby pedal mounted in the tailpiece. From the pedal to amp input.
Perhaps this then:

  10. My setup when I played rockabilly was two completely separate systems:
    - a normal bass amp for the bass;
    - a small guitar amp for the click.

It was really nice if I needed to adjust anything mid-gig to have that independence. E.g. click too loud/harsh? Just adjust its volume/eq without messing with the bass sound.

So in terms of neatness, it was just the two jack leads coming out of the bass.

  11. There are bots (automated computer programs) which examine the competitor's price and then sell higher.

Sometimes they spiral out of control; e.g. this book on sale for $23.7 million!

    http://www.michaeleisen.org/blog/?p=358

"Why though would bordeebook want to make sure theirs is always more expensive? Since the prices of all the sellers are posted, this would seem to guarantee they would get no sales. But maybe this isn’t right – they have a huge volume of positive feedback – far more than most others. And some buyers might choose to pay a few extra dollars for the level of confidence in the transaction this might impart.

"[...] they do not actually possess the book. Rather, they noticed that someone else listed a copy for sale, and so they put it up as well – relying on their better feedback record to attract buyers. But, of course, if someone actually orders the book, they have to get it – so they have to set their price significantly higher"

  12. For sale: Sparrow "Dr.J" driver/DI pedal

Pre-amp with overdrive, in the style of a Behringer BDI21 or Tech 21 VT Bass DI.

[s]£45 including UK postage.[/s] edit: Now sold

About two months old and in excellent condition.

    http://www.joyoaudio...ve-effect-pedal

"This small box captures all the sound of a mic'd classic tube bass amp. Has Drive, High and Low Frequency, HF Harmonics, and Mix controls and boasts analog cabinet emulation circuitry. Includes an XLR out for DI (perfect for live shows and pro recording) and parallel 1/4" to connect those pure, beautiful lows your stage amp."

  13. I bought this Aria fretless acoustic last week. It was a b-stock item due to a small dent at the top of the headstock; I paid £189. Credit to gear4music: I paid them on Monday morning and it arrived on Tuesday morning.

The setup was good out of the box and I didn't feel the need to fiddle with anything in that respect.

I tried some La Bella Deep Talkin' flats, but prefer the stock bronze wounds, which give a nice, gentle, organic sound.

Larger than I thought it would be (not a problem though, just an observation). For comparison, here it is next to a normal-sized bass:

  14. For sale (no trades, thanks): [s]£450[/s] EDIT: now sold

Price includes official gig bag and UK postage

    Make: Sterling by Music Man
    Model: Ray34CA
    Colour: 3 Tone Sunburst

This is basically a two-band StingRay, made in Indonesia, with a narrower neck than a standard StingRay, and a slab body (no belly or forearm contours).

    Manufacturer's description:

"Delivering old school looks for the vintage enthusiast, the finish is a hard glossy coat that exudes the vibe of an older instrument. Glossy amber tinted neck, a narrow 38mm nut width, 34” scale and 2-Band active preamp satisfy the original appeal of the StingRay Bass."

    Manufacturer's website: http://www.sterlingb...-basses/ray34ca

I purchased this bass new in December 2014 from GAK. They currently retail new for £759.

Full set of photos here: http://imgur.com/a/yIqFO

Unless noted below, anything which looks like it might be a scratch or ding in the photos is either a reflection of the light or it is wood grain. Please ask if any clarification is needed - happy to take more photos if needed.

    Please note these cosmetic flaws:

    1. There is a small amount of very light buckle rash - it was impossible to photograph, and only visible if you hold the bass up to the light and move it around slowly.

    2. One tuner had a slight rattle, so I dabbed some superglue around the edge. The rattle stopped. It looks worse in this photo than in real life, as for the photo I have positioned the tuner so it is reflecting a dark surface; the superglue is not as reflective.

    3. Upper horn has a small scratch.

    4. Headstock has a very small ding.

    Strings are D'Addario Chromes.

Digital bathroom scales show weight as 4.6 kg (10 lb 2 oz).

This is the cheapest entry point for a classic two-band StingRay bass with sunburst body, black pickguard, and maple fingerboard!

  15. [s]£105 including postage.[/s]
    EDIT: NOW SOLD

    For sale (no trades, thanks):

    Zoom B3 - multi-effects and amp simulator.

This one is just three weeks old, and so it's in very good condition.

Includes original box, manual, and power supply.

it's 120W struggled to be heard at a pub gig. The new ones are 500W

Doubling the power is going to help
Since it is the same product from the same company, is it fair to reason that if their "500W" is more like what you and I would call 250W, then the original "120W" was more like 60W? So the power in the new version has quadrupled. I'm also quite curious about these, and perhaps I am trying to convince myself to get one!

  17. I have one of these:

    http://www.thomann.de/gb/rockboard_power_lt_xl.htm

It can supply power while it's recharging - so at gigs I tend to plug it in if there happens to be a convenient socket; but if there isn't, I don't.

It has lights on it which indicate how much charge is left.

No need to ever remove it from pedal board or open it up to extract batteries.
