1. All about style, no way I'd even manage band practise with an average 200w rms amp regardless of how amazing the cab it was going into was. But for quieter stuff that'd give you pretty much unlimited head room. How much bottom end you use you use effects how much you can get out an amp massively too. Do get a bit confused about the existance of big 50w practise amps and the like, but if I lived somewhere where I could get away with practising with an amp that big I certainly would. Other then very quiet acoustic gigs it seems like it's overkill for practising and nowhere near enough for a gig, but I'm sure there are people that have some use for them.
2. If I can sell enough to buy it I'd love it, after something that I can distort to f*** and have some nice clean percussive top end on the top of, with all those controls it looks perfect for making some really disgustingly heavy sounds. It looks about as versatile as you could possibly need for anything more sensible then that too. If anyone takes my albeit awesome but nowhere near as flexible VBA400 off me I'm in.
3. Got this back a few days ago and got some pictures up at last!
4. Where you based? Interested in the head if you can ship it.
5. If you were up for a trade with a VBA400 with flightcase plus cash and I didn't live a few hundred miles away I'd be all over it...
6. Sorry didn't realise I hadn't posted what needed fixing. took some better photos of what needs doing to illustrate. It's the black and white wires which need to connect the bottom coil, and a uncoated wire which connects as what I assume is the earthing to the copper lining of the bottom of the pickup. Turns out the wire doesn't really need pulling back that much anyway.
7. Have this lovely Jazz pickup lying around totally unused, bought the set cos there was no single neck ones for me to drop into my ATK. Very well respected pickups, not sure what the bridge one sounds like but the neck one has a nice big open warm tone, with a nice amount of subtle top end. As it's split coil it's alot less noisy then a single coil so might make a nice upgrade for a PJ or if you like the sound of a soloed J neck pickup. It also has alan key adjustable pole pieces so you can fine tune the balance the output between strings. As far as I can see you can't get them as singles anywhere only a pair, only minor thing is the lack of screws which I've lost but other then that it's totally solid and used. I'm based in Ilkley around Leeds and Bradford. Happy to post or could also arrange a pickup from near my work in Guiseley.
8. Nice warm sounding Jazz pickup, cheap since it needs a easy fix solder which I don't have an iron to myself and some screws. Was £55 New and got it for my ATK when I had a neck cavity put in, but the output wasn't high enough to keep up with the bassculture.de that was in it. Based in Ilkley near Leeds and Bradford, happy to post. Work in Guiseley so could also arrange a pickup during work hours.
9. Proper pictures and everything! Will get more of the back panel and everything this evening.
10. The link not working either? I'll find somewhere to host them that isn't dropbox this evening as it didn't like me using it for the proper picture link either.
11. Improvisation Acoustic Bass Solo - Crafter GAB24 - Bruno Tauzin - YouTube This is a clip of the very similar GAB24, albeit laden with reverb, that has identical electronics. Not the best clip but shows how nice and open it sounds plugged in.
