  1. Large holdall - speaker leads rolled on plastic drums (usually four)
All my speaker leads are 10m, so no confusion...
sound connection stuff in Bag for Life inside above
    mic ditto.
Mains leads either inside amp hard-case, or yet another Bag for Life.
Small tools, spare jacks etc in a little ali hard case from B&Q.
Did this for years, the key (imo) is 'separation' (& making sure you repack properly).

  2. I used to work in an industry where it was the usual form to ask 'x' if I might have contact with 'y'.
'x' would phone 'y' and they would (usually) phone me or give 'x; consent to part with the contact detail.
There was the very rare occasion where 'y' said no, and 'x' would polity inform me of that outcome.
That was in the early 1980's....seemed to work fairly well without ruffled feathers.......

  3. I said earlier that I'm running KT120s, but I've two all Partridge Matamps and one Sowter heavy prototype chassis. The 120s draw more power, and it may be that some amps struggle with this, which might cause the 'unreliable' tag?
Certainly mine seem very good so far, one set is twelve months down the line, and all is well.
For 'modern' amplifiers, KT88s would probably be about as high as I would go........

  4. ....Which brings me on to Horn wattage....a long time back I bought two Vitavox 3cell horns (direct from the factory) and a couple of S2 pressure drivers (you can still buy them, currently around 3k a driver) - the man told me that the drivers would take about 45watts, which worried me, because I was using 200 Ormats....he grinned and assured me that through the Vitavox crossovers, the horns would last forever....twenty years later, I sold them on.............

Before I forget - the 'approved' factory muting was a pair of rolled-up socks placed in the unwanted cell aperture......I only ever had the centre cells unmuted..........

  5. It took the Beeb years to start to get it almost right.
When it first started it was a rehash of the Light programme with
insufficient needle time (no-one had considered this...!),
programming running twinned with the 'new' radio 2, and generally abysmal.
I was sure that the whole thing was thrown together at the behest of
Harold Wilson (PM) who was frightened witless by the prospect of a
yoof uprising in protest at the outlawing of the (far more professional) Pirates....

  6. I recall (with a grin) that he played Peter Sarstedts 'take off your clothes' in error
(I was there, I did hear it).
Thus propelling said artist off the airwaves almost indefinitely.........

Terry will be greatly missed, he was an icon.

  7. I'm using KT120.on all my Matamp kit.......they're very fast and should last longer than 88s, as they are intrinsically more (design) powerful.
As always, valve amp output rms is dictated by the output transformer.

  8. Shame the OP took the original down.........
I think the gist of this is a bit like internet dating....
you never get what (you think) you want...
'oldies' have a lifetime of mistakes (sorry, experience)
    to impart...........

    :)
